General Formulation for Proton Decay Rate in Minimal Supersymmetric SO(10) GUT

We make an explicit formulation for the proton decay rate in the minimal renormalizable supersymmetric (SUSY) SO(10) model. In this model, the Higgs fields consist of ${\bf 10}$ and ${\bf \bar{126}}$ SO(10) representations in the Yukawa interactions with matter and of ${\bf 10}$, ${\bf \bar{126}}$, ${\bf 126}$, and ${\bf 210}$ representations in the Higgs potential. We present all the mass matrices for the Higgs fields contained in this minimal SUSY SO(10) model. Finally, we discuss the threshold effects of these Higgs fields on the gauge coupling unification.

Study of Gram Matrices in Fock Representation of Multiparametric Canonical Commutation Relations, Extended Zagier's Conjecture, Hyperplane Arrangements and Quantum Groups

In this Colloqium Lecture (by one of the authors (D.S)) a thorough presentation of the authors' research on the subjects, stated in the title, is given. By quite laborious mathematics it is explained how one can handle systems in which each Heisenberg commutation relation is deformed separately. For Hilbert space realizability a detailed determinant computations (extending Zagier's one-parameter formulas) are carried out. The inversion problem of the associated Gram matrices on Fock weight spaces is completely solved (Extended Zagier's conjecture) and a counterexample (for $n=8$) to the original Zagier's conjecture is presented in detail.

Determinants and Inversion of Gram Matrices in Fock Representation of $\{q_{kl}\}$- Canonical Commutation Relations and Applications to Hyperplane Arrangements and Quantum Groups. Proof of an Extension of Zagier's Conjecture

In this paper we study a collections of operators $a(k)$ satisfying the "$q_{kl} $-canonical commutation relations" $a(k)a^{+}(l)-q_{kl}a^{+}(l)a(k) =δ_{kl} $ (corresponding for $q_{kl}=q$ to Greenberg (infinite) statistics, for $q=\pm 1$ to classical Bose and Fermi statistics). We show that $n!\times n!$ matrices $A_{n}(\{q_{kl}\})$ of scalar products of n-particle states is positive definite for all n if $|q_{kl}|<1$, all k,l, so that the above commutation relations have a Hilbert space realization. This is achieved by explicit factorizations of $A_{n}(\{q_{kl}\})$ as a product of matrices of the form $(1-QT)^{\pm 1}$, where Q is a diagonal matrix and T is a regular represen- tation of a cyclic matrix. From such factorizations we obtain in Th. 1.9.2 explicit formulas for the determinant of $A_{n}(\{q_{kl}\})$ in the generic case (which generalizes Zagier's 1-parametric formula). For inversion of $A_{n} (\{q_{kl}\})$ we use ideas of Božejko and Speicher, and Th.2.2.6 gives a definite answer in terms of maximal chains in subdivision lattices. Our algorithm in Proposition 2.2.18 for computing the entries of $A_{n}(\{q_{kl}\} )$ is very efficient. In particular for $n=8$, when all $q_{kl}=q$, we found a counterexample to Zagier's conjecture concerning the form of the denominators of the entries in the inverse of $A_{n}(q)$. In Cor.2.2.8 we extend Zagier's Conjecture to multiparameter case. By applying a faster algorithm in Prop.2.2.19 we obtain in Th.2.2.20 explicit formulas for the inverse of the matrices $A_n(\{q_{kl}\})$ in the generic case. There are applications of these results to discriminant arrangements of hyperplanes and to contravariant forms of certain quantum groups.

The Energy Operator for a Model with a Multiparametric Infinite Statistics

In this paper we consider energy operator (a free Hamiltonian), in the second-quantized approach, for the multiparameter quon algebras: $a_{i}a_{j}^{\dagger}-q_{ij}a_{j}^{\dagger}a_{i} = δ_{ij}, i,j\in I$ with $(q_{ij})_{i,j\in I}$ any hermitian matrix of deformation parameters. We obtain an elegant formula for normally ordered (sometimes called Wick-ordered) series expansions of number operators (which determine a free Hamiltonian). As a main result (see Theorem 1) we prove that the number operators are given, with respect to a basis formed by "generalized Lie elements", by certain normally ordered quadratic expressions with coefficients given precisely by the entries of the inverses of Gram matrices of multiparticle weight spaces. (This settles a conjecture of two of the authors (S.M and A.P), stated in [8]). These Gram matrices are hermitian generalizations of the Varchenko's matrices, associated to a quantum (symmetric) bilinear form of diagonal arrangements of hyperplanes (see [12]). The solution of the inversion problem of such matrices in [9] (Theorem 2.2.17), leads to an effective formula for the number operators studied in this paper. The one parameter case, in the monomial basis, was studied by Zagier [15], Stanciu [11] and Møller [6].

Representations of noncommutative quantum mechanics and symmetries

We present a unified approach to representations of quantum mechanics on noncommutative spaces with general constant commutators of phase-space variables. We find two phases and duality relations among them in arbitrary dimensions. Conditions for physical equivalence of different representations of a given system are analysed. Symmetries and classification of phase spaces are discussed. Specially, the dynamical symmetry of a physical system is investigated. Finally, we apply our analyses to the two-dimesional harmonic oscillator and the Landau problem.

Calogero model, deformed oscillators and the collapse

We discuss the behavior of the Calogero model and the related model of deformed oscillators with the S_N extended Heisenberg algebra for a special value of the constant of interaction/statistical parameter nu. The problem with finite number of deformed oscillators is analyzed in the algebraic approach, while collective-field theory has been used to investigate the large-N limit. In this limit, system reduces to a large number of collapsing (free) particles, for nu=-1/N.

Finite Chern-Simons matrix model - algebraic approach

We analyze the algebra of observables and the physical Fock space of the finite Chern-Simons matrix model. We observe that the minimal algebra of observables acting on that Fock space is identical to that of the Calogero model. Our main result is the identification of the states in the l-th tower of the Chern-Simons matrix model Fock space and the states of the Calogero model with the interaction parameter nu=l+1. We describe quasiparticle and quasihole states in the both models in terms of Schur functions, and discuss some nontrivial consequences of our algebraic approach.

Bosonic realization of algebras in the Calogero model

We study an N-body Calogero model in the S_N-symmetric subspace of the positive definite Fock space. We construct a new algebra of S_N-symmetric operators represented on the symmetric Fock space, and find a natural orthogonal basis by mapping the algebra onto the Heisenberg algebra. Our main result is the bosonic realization of nonlinear symmetry algebra describing the structure of degenerate levels of Calogero model.

Dynamical symmetry algebra of the Calogero model

We study the dynamical symmetry algebra of the N-body Calogero model describing the structure of degenerate levels and demonstrate that the algebra is intrisically polynomial. We discuss some general properties of an algebra of S_N-symmetric operators acting on the S_N-symmetric subspace of the Fock space for any statistical parameter ν. In the bosonic case (ν=0) we find the algebra of generators for every N. For ν\neq 0, we explicitly reproduce the finite algebra for the 4-particle model, demonstrating some general features of our construction.

Perturbative spectrum of Trapped Weakly Interacting Bosons in Two Dimensions

We study a trapped Bose-Einstein condensate under rotation in the limit of weak, translational and rotational invariant two-particle interactions. We use the perturbation-theory approach (the large-N expansion) to calculate the ground-state energy and the excitation spectrum in the asymptotic limit where the total number of particles N goes to infinity while keeping the total angular momentum L finite. Calculating the probabilities of different configurations of angular momentum in the exact eigenstates gives us a clear view of the physical content of excitations. We briefly discuss the case of repulsive contact interaction.

Analytical Results for Trapped Weakly Interacting Bosons in Two Dimensions

We consider a model of N two-dimensional bosons in a harmonic trap with translational and rotational invariant, weak two-particle interaction. We present in configuration space a systematical recursive method for constructing all wave functions with angular momentum L and corresponding energies and apply it to L\leq 6 for all N. The lower and the upper bounds for interaction energy are estimated. We analitically confirm the conjecture of Smith et al. that elementary symmetric polynomial is the ground state for repulsive delta interaction, for all N\geq L up to L\leq 6. Additionally, we find that there exist vanishing-energy solutions for L\geq N(N-1), signalizing the exclusive statistics. Finally, we consider briefly the case of attractive power-like potential r^k, k>-2, and prove that the lowest-energy state is still the one in which all angular momentum is absorbed by the center-of-mass motion.

Deformed Heisenberg algebras, a Fock-space representation and the Calogero model

We describe generally deformed Heisenberg algebras in one dimension. The condition for a generalized Leibniz rule is obtained and solved. We analyze conditions under which deformed quantum-mechanical problems have a Fock-space representation. One solution of these conditions leads to a q-deformed oscillator already studied by Lorek et al., and reduces to the harmonic oscillator only in the infinite-momentum frame. The other solution leads to the Calogero model in ordinary quantum mechanics, but reduces to the harmonic oscillator in the absence of deformation.

Parastatistics as Examples of the Extended Haldane Statistics

We show that for every algebra of creation and annihilation operators with a Fock-like representation, one can define extended Haldane statistical parameters in a unique way. Specially for parastatistics, we calculate extended Haldane parameters and discuss the corresponding partition functions.

Unified view of multimode algebras with Fock-like representations

A unified view of general multimode oscillator algebras with Fock-like representations is presented. It extends a previous analysis of the single-mode oscillator algebras. The expansion of the $a_ia_j^{\dagger}$ operators is extended to include all normally ordered terms in creation and annihilation operators and we analyze their action on Fock-like states. We restrict ourselves to the algebras compatible with number operators. The connection between these algebras and generalized statistics is analyzed. We demonstrate our approach by considering the algebras obtainable from the generalized Jordan-Wigner transformation, the para-Bose and para-Fermi algebras, the Govorkov "paraquantization" algebra and generalized quon algebra.

Generalized Quon Statistics

Generalized quons interpolating between Bose, Fermi, para-Bose, para-Fermi, and anyonic statistics are proposed. They follow from the R-matrix approach to deformed associative algebras. It is proved that generalized quons have the same main properties as quons. A new result for the number operator is presented and some physical features of generalized quons are discussed in the limit $|q_{ij}^{2}| \rightarrow 1$.
