Exploring the Role of Gamification in Enhancing Academic Library Services: A Survey of Library Leaders in India

This study explores the role of gamification in enhancing academic library services in India by surveying library leaders across various institutions. Using game-like elements in non-game contexts, gamification can boost user engagement and improve services such as information literacy and research consultations. Findings reveal moderate awareness and generally positive perceptions of gamification's effectiveness. However, challenges like insufficient staff expertise, infrastructure, and limited funding hinder implementation. The study emphasises the need for additional resources, including staff training and technological upgrades, to unlock the full potential of gamification in academic libraries.

Netizens, Academicians, and Information Professionals' Opinions About AI With Special Reference To ChatGPT

This study aims to understand the perceptions and opinions of academicians towards ChatGPT-3 by collecting and analyzing social media comments, and a survey was conducted with library and information science professionals. The research uses a content analysis method and finds that while ChatGPT-3 can be a valuable tool for research and writing, it is not 100% accurate and should be cross-checked. The study also finds that while some academicians may not accept ChatGPT-3, most are starting to accept it. The study is beneficial for academicians, content developers, and librarians.

Digital Literacy and Reading Habits of The DMI-St. Eugene University Students

Digital literacy is the skill of finding, evaluating, consuming, and generating information using digital technologies. The study attempted to comprehend university students' digital reading habits and skills. It also provides a glimpse of the pupils' favorite reading materials, including physical and digital sources. We examined BSc and BE Computer Science students of DMI-St. Eugene University, Zambia. The tool was a structured questionnaire that was distributed through WhatsApp. The study's findings revealed that most students thoroughly understand digital tools and how to use them but lack the skills to build their websites and portfolio. Out of 115 students, all agreed they used computers for learning purposes. Usage of digital environments, generally, they used the World Wide Web for searching for information. Additionally, most students have medium digital application skills, despite their preference for reading electronic books. The results indicate that students' gender and level of education had a statistically significant link with their digital literacy, whereas age wasn't shown to be a statistically relevant predictor. The findings show that, in terms of education, especially reading, students' or readers' top priorities are electronic resources; print book preferences are reduced.

A Study of Obstacles in Plagiarism Software Subscribing by Colleges in Tamil Nadu

This article attempts to comprehend the current issues and hurdles that Indian colleges affiliated with Tamil Nadu State Universities encounter when trying to subscribe to a software that detects plagiarism. The study goals are to determine whether colleges employ anti-plagiarism software, whether they ensure that their student-given assignments are free of copyright infringement, whether tutors teach about academic misconduct, and what people seem to think of anti-plagiarism software. We surveyed for this study and distributed the questionnaires among college administrators, principals, and librarians.

Virtual learning environment is pleasure or pressure

The primary aim of this study intends the perception of students towards online learning in the covid-19 pandemic period. The pandemic has changed the traditional concepts of the education system and broken the functions of the educational institutions. But, they give it an opportunity to change pedagogy. The research paper discussed the students opinions on online learning and virtual classroom learning. This study applied a qualitative approach and prepared a systematic questionnaire for data collection. The researcher collected the data from 258 students from different places in India and also, the disproportionate sampling used for data collection. The research mainly focused on the students perception, the comfort and discomfort of e-learning, using electronic devices for communication, the virtual learning is a pleasure or pressure to the students, the digital skills of the students and their active performance. The study revealed that over 50 percent of the students are having excellent knowledge of digital skills. The students are attending online classes through their personal computers or laptops and phones. The teachers are allowing the students to ask questions and clear the doubt of the students. The study found that the students are losing social interaction with teachers, friends and cannot access the library because of online classes. Finally, the students felt that online learning is a pressure instead of pleasure.

E-Resource Management and Management Issues and Challenges

E-resources are inevitable, technology has grown and libraries are also adopting the technologies although adopting have many challenges to the library professionals. Whenever something new comes they need to update themselves. A study investigated E-Resources management and management issues of Indian library professional perspectives. For this study, data was collected from various academic institutes/university libraries in India. It includes institutes of national importance, central, state, deemed and private universities. The study finds that the majority of the libraries subscribed to E-journals and E-books, administration related challenges faced by LIS professionals. The t-test results revealed a lack of professional skills is the reason for issues and challenges of Library management.

Awareness and usage of SWAYAM course among library and information science students a survey

The Government of India initiated SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active-learning for Young Aspiring Minds), where the objective of the programme is to take the best teaching and learning resources to all with no costs. To find out the awareness and usage of SWAYAM courses among Library and Information science students, survey method of research used. To collect data from selective Universities students a structured questionnaire was prepared. The results show that most of the responses received from Annamalai University, majority respondents are aware of SWAYAM course. Respondents are aware of these courses through their teachers. 74.73 percent of respondents replied that their University providing orientation programme on SWAYAM. Half of the respondents prefer Word file format for submitting their assignment. More than 82 percent of respondents are spending 1 to 3 hours for SWAYAM course. Half of the respondents are agreed SWAYAM courses help to gain new knowledge and supports life-long learning. Further, the result reveals that the numbers of students continue their enrolled courses and only less number were discontinued due to some reasons

Research Data Management and Services in South Asian Academic Libraries

The study examined the research data management and related services offered by South Asian countries' academic libraries. Research applied quantitative approach and survey research design method were used for this study. The survey questionnaire was distributed randomly to academic library professionals in five countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The sample population comprised 67 library professionals from various institutes of five countries. The study recommends that institutes or funding organizations support staff to attend conferences and workshops on research data management, library professionals have to join MOOC to take courses related to research data services, Institute or professionals conduct in-house staff workshops and presentations. The study also found that 64.2 per cent agreed compliance with funder requirements and preservation are major issues.

Use of Electronic Resources by Law Academics in India

This study investigated e-resources use, storage, the preferred format for reading, and difficulties faced while accessing e-resources. Electronic resources are playing a crucial role all over the world, and they are increasing widely in all age groups of the academic community. The main aim of the law academics' role is to know the effective use of electronic resources. For this study, we adopted a descriptive survey research design that was used to collect feedback from the respondents through the survey and Google form. The study samples are Progressive Education Society's Modern Law College affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University. BA LLB students are samples of the study.

Digital Media and Information Literacy: A way to Paperless Society

Purpose - The study's main objective was to find out the possibility of a paperless library and society with particular reference to Top 60 Universities from QS world University ranking 2021 and their library professionals. ICT knowledge and skills of these LIS professionals and evaluated their digital literacy skills was another aim of this study. Design/methodology/approach - The researchers used the survey method for this study using a structured questionnaire, distributed through the google form to library professionals of world-famous universities, ranked as top 60 in QS World University Ranking. 206 responses were received. The information collected from the respondents has been analyzed using an Excel sheet and SPSS software. Findings - Most professionals are interested in digital learning and adopting paperless learning to contribute to a paperless society. They go for online ways to answer reference queries of users and work in a refined atmosphere. They are learning from digital resources and have support from online platforms if they suffer. Also, they are actively engaging with the digital environment and promoting it too.

Understanding the Knowledge Sharing Behaviors of Library Professionals in South Asia

The present study aim is to know the information professionals-library professionals knowledge sharing behaviours and attitudes among the institutes. This study investigated six countries' library professionals: Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The study discussed knowledge sharing behaviour, technological equipment used for knowledge management and disseminating the sources of knowledge; academic social networking sites used for sharing the information and knowledge as well as challenges in knowledge management faced by the librarians examined in detail. The implication of the study highlighted the various areas of knowledge management such as training, budget, lack of staff and reward.

Predatory journals that pretended to resemble refereed journals but are used for money-making purposes. Predatory publishers produce less quality scientific and research papers; it is a severe academic threat in scientific publications. Digital Literacy and Reading Habits of the Central University of Tamil Nadu Students: A Survey Study

The study attempted to understand the University students' digital reading habits and their related skills. It also has a view of students' preferred sources of reading, whether physical or digital resources. For this study, we conducted a survey study with students and research scholars of the Central University of Tamil Nadu, India. The instrument was a structured questionnaire distributed with various modes. The result found that the majority of the students are well known about digital tools and usage, most of the students are excellent in digital literacy skills and other findings is however they are good in digital literacy even though they like to read print books is their most favorable preference. The results conclude that whatever technological devices are developed and students have also grown their technical knowledge. The result finds out, in education especially reading-wise, students or readers' first wish is printed resources; digital books are secondary to them.

Library and Information Science Scholarly Journals Publishing Simulation: A Study

The author's productivity is assessed based on publications, which requires a lot of motivation and time. Manuscripts get through several steps before being accepted and published. The purpose of this paper is to understand the time gap between acceptance to the publication of manuscripts in reputed journals of Library and Information Science. This paper is useful to contemporary researchers for knowing the journal publication duration. In this paper, we discussed the refereed and index journals in the field of library and information science. For this study, we collected the data from six LIS journals which were published from the 2020 January to December Asian region. The study focuses on detailed analyses of journal processing and publishing duration. The major contribution of this study gives the six LIS journal processing time they are: author manuscript submitted to accepted, accepted to published, and submitted to published period.
