Space-Time Isogeometric Method for a Nonlocal Parabolic Problem

In the present work, we focus on the space-time isogeometric discretization of a parabolic problem with a nonlocal diffusion coefficient. The existence and uniqueness of the solution for the continuous space-time variational formulation are proven. We prove the existence of the discrete solution and also establish the a priori error estimate for the space-time isogeometric scheme. The non-linear system is linearized through Picards method and a suitable preconditioner for the linearized system is provided. Finally, to confirm the theoretical findings, results of some numerical experiments are presented.

Space-time isogeometric method for a linear fourth order time dependent problem

This article focuses on the space-time isogeometric method for a linear time dependent fourth order problem. Using an auxiliary variable, first the problem is split into a system of two second order differential equations and then the system is discretized by employing the tensor product spline spaces of time and spatial variables. We use the Babuska's theorem to prove the well-posedness of the continuous variational formulation. Also, the inf-sup stability condition at discrete level is established, which we use to prove the error estimates for the proposed method. Finally, to demonstrate the convergence of the scheme, few numerical results are reported.

Mesh-free mixed finite element approximation for nonlinear time-fractional biharmonic problem using weighted b-splines

In this article, we propose a fully-discrete scheme for the numerical solution of a nonlinear time-fractional biharmonic problem. This problem is first converted into an equivalent system by introducing a new variable. Then spatial and temporal discretizations are done by the weighted $b$-spline method and $L2$-$1_σ$ approximation, respectively. The weighted $b$-spline method uses weighted $b$-splines on a tensor product grid as basis functions for the finite element space and by construction, it is a mesh-free method. This method combines the computational benefits of $b$-splines and standard mesh-based elements. We derive $α$-robust \emph{a priori} bound and convergence estimate in the $L^2(Ω)$ norm for the proposed scheme. Finally, we carry out few numerical experiments to support our theoretical findings.

Symmetric fractional order reduction method with $L1$ scheme on graded mesh for time fractional nonlocal diffusion-wave equation of Kirchhoff type

In this article, we propose a linearized fully-discrete scheme for solving a time fractional nonlocal diffusion-wave equation of Kirchhoff type. The scheme is established by using the finite element method in space and the $L1$ scheme in time. We derive the $α$-robust \textit{a priori} bound and \textit{a priori} error estimate for the fully-discrete solution in $L^{\infty}\big(H^1_0(Ω)\big)$ norm, where $α\in (1,2)$ is the order of time fractional derivative. Finally, we perform some numerical experiments to verify the theoretical results.

L1 scheme on graded mesh for subdiffusion equation with nonlocal diffusion term

The solution of time fractional partial differential equations in general exhibit a weak singularity near the initial time. In this article we propose a method for solving time fractional diffusion equation with nonlocal diffusion term. The proposed method comprises L1 scheme on graded mesh, finite element method and Newton's method. We discuss the well-posedness of the weak formulation at discrete level and derive \emph{a priori} error estimates for fully-discrete formulation in $L^2(Ω)$ and $H^1(Ω)$ norms. Finally, some numerical experiments are conducted to validate the theoretical findings.

Fractional Crank-Nicolson-Galerkin Finite Element Scheme for the Time-Fractional Nonlinear Diffusion Equation

This article presents a finite element scheme with Newton's method for solving the time-fractional nonlinear diffusion equation. For time discretization, we use the fractional Crank-Nicolson scheme based on backward Euler convolution quadrature. We discuss the existence-uniqueness results for the fully-discrete problem. Discrete fractional Gronwall type inequality for the backward Euler convolution quadrature which is used to approximate the Riemann-Liouville fractional derivative is established by using the idea of D.Li et al. given in [11]. A priori error estimate for the fully-discrete problem in $L^2(Ω)$ norm is derived. Numerical results based on finite element scheme are provided to validate the theoretical estimates.
