Creating two-qudit maximally entangled quantum link through bulk

We design a setup for creating almost maximally entangled two-qudit link between distant nodes which are weakly coupled with the interacting spin-s bulk (processor). We exhibit that such a quantum link between spins of arbitrary spin quantum number can be formed when the system is prepared at sufficiently low temperature. We find that the Heisenberg and the bilinear-biquadratic (BBQ) spin-1 models are the potential candidates to obtain long-distance near-maximal entanglement in equilibrium. Beyond the static regime, we further show that initializing the bulk in a fully polarized state and the link in an appropriate qudit state allows the system to dynamically evolve into a highly entangled state under both Heisenberg and BBQ Hamiltonians. Our findings reveal that both the static and the dynamical protocols presented here remain efficient towards creating highly entangled two-qudit states even if the spin quantum numbers of the bulk is lower than that of the link.

Quantum Correlations in the Decay of $B^0$ meson and Entanglement Entropy

We present a phenomenological study of quantum correlations in the decay of $B^0$ mesons into a system of two vector mesons. The decay of the $B^0$ meson into two vector mesons constitutes a bipartite system of two qutrits. The entanglement entropy is used as a measure of quantum correlations in the system of decaying particles. We study the variation of the Rényi entropy with Rényi order ($α$) for the decay channels $B_s^0 \rightarrow ϕ\, ϕ$, $B_d^0 \rightarrow J/ψ\, K^{*}(892)^0$, $B_d^0 \rightarrow ϕ\, K^{*}(892)^0$ and $B_s^0 \rightarrow J/ψ\, ϕ$ and discuss the significance of entanglement entropy at different Rényi order regimes. The LHCb, ATLAS and Belle collaborations experimental measurements of complex polarization amplitudes and relative phases are used as input for our analysis. A comparison of entanglement entropy for all the $B^0$ meson decay processes, with both vanishing and non-vanishing phases, reveals a strong phase dependence of the entropy. We further present the results of Hartley entropy (Max-Entropy), von Neumann entropy, collision entropy, and min-entropy, each corresponding to different values and limits of the Rényi order. The comparison between the branching fractions of the decay processes and the von Neumann entropy shows a connection between entanglement and decay dynamics, indicating the role of weak and strong interaction in generating quantum entanglement. In addition, we evaluate several other entanglement measures, including linear entropy, I-concurrence, tangle, negativity, logarithmic negativity, Schmidt coefficients, and Schmidt rank for different $B^0$ meson decay processes. Our study demonstrates that entanglement measures provide useful insights into the underlying decay dynamics and may serve as important tools for understanding quantum correlations in high-energy particle physics processes.

Interplay of asymmetry and fragmentation in the many-body tunneling dynamics of two-dimensional bosonic Josephson junctions

It is well known that the many-body tunneling of a bosonic condensate leads to (longitudinal) fragmentation along the tunneling direction. In this work, we prepare the initial ground state as a (transversely) fragmented system by introducing a barrier oriented orthogonally to the tunneling direction and allow it to tunnel through a two-dimensional longitudinally and transversely-asymmetric bosonic Josephson junctions. For a fixed barrier height, we find that the initial transversal fragmentation is essentially independent of the asymmetry along the tunneling direction but reduces when the asymmetry is oriented orthogonally to the junction. We investigate the interplay between the interference of fragmentations and asymmetry in the junction by analyzing the rate of density collapse in the survival probability, the uncertainty product, and the nontrivial dynamics of the occupation of the first excited orbital. The interference of fragmentations is quantified by the ratio between the reduction of transverse fragmentation and the development of longitudinal fragmentation. We show that asymmetry along the junction (orthogonal to the junction) delays (accelerates), compared to the symmetric potential, in obtaining the maximal interference of fragmentations. Notably, self-trapping opposes the interference, whereas a resonant tunneling condition enhances it. Overall, we demonstrate that the influence of asymmetry on the competition between longitudinal and transversal fragmentations, which together govern the macroscopic tunneling dynamics of interacting bosons, arises purely from the many-body effects and has no counterpart in the mean-field theory.

Predicting topological quantum phase transition from dynamics via multisite entanglement

An exactly solvable Kitaev model in a two-dimensional square lattice exhibits a topological quantum phase transition which is different from the symmetry-breaking transition at zero temperature. When the ground state of a nonlinearly perturbed Kitaev model with different strengths of perturbation taken as the initial state is quenched to a pure Kitaev model, we demonstrate that various features of the dynamical state, such as the Loschmidt echo and time-averaged multipartite entanglement, can determine whether the initial state belongs to the topological phase or not. Moreover, the derivatives of the dynamical quantifiers can faithfully identify the topological quantum phase transition, which is present at equilibrium. When the individual qubits of the lattice interact with the local thermal bath repeatedly, we observe that block entanglement in dissipative dynamics can nevertheless distinguish the equilibrium phases from which the system starts evolution.

Many-body effects in a composite bosonic Josephson junction

In standard bosonic Josephson junctions (BJJs), particles tunnel between two single-well potentials linked by a finite barrier. The dynamics of standard BJJs have been extensively studied, both at the many-body and mean-field levels of theory. In the present work, we introduce the concept of a composite BJJ. In a composite BJJ, particles tunnel between two double-well potentials linked by a finite potential barrier between them. We focus on many-body facets of quantum dynamics and investigate how the complex structure of the junction influences tunneling. Employing the multiconfigurational time-dependent Hartree for bosons method, highly-accurate many-boson wave-functions are obtained from which properties are computed. We analyze the dynamics using the survival probability, the degree of fragmentation of the junction, and the fluctuations of observables, and discuss how many-boson tunneling behaves, and how it may be controlled, using the composite nature of the junction. A central result of this work relates to the degree of fragmentation of composite BJJs with different numbers of bosons. We provide strong evidence that a universal degree of fragmentation into multiple time-dependent modes takes place. Further applications are briefly discussed.

Many-body quantum dynamics of an asymmetric bosonic Josephson junction

The out-of-equilibrium quantum dynamics of an interacting Bose gas trapped in a 1D asymmetric double-well potential is studied by solving the many-body Schrödinger equation numerically accurately. We examine how the loss of symmetry of the confining trap affects the macroscopic quantum tunneling dynamics of the system between the two wells. In an asymmetric DW, the two wells are not equivalent anymore -the left well is deeper than the right one. Accordingly, we analyze the dynamics by initially preparing the condensate in both the left and the right well. We examined the frequencies and amplitudes of the oscillations of the survival probabilities, the time scale for the development of fragmentation and its degree, and the growth and oscillatory behavior of the many-body position and momentum variances. There is an overall suppression of the oscillations of the survival probabilities in an asymmetric double well. However, depending on whether the condensate is initially prepared in the left or right well, the repulsive inter-atomic interactions affect the survival probabilities differently. The degree of fragmentation depends both on the asymmetry of the trap and the initial well in which the condensate is prepared in a non-trivial manner. Overall, the many-body position and momentum variances bear the prominent signatures of the density oscillations of the system in the asymmetric double well as well as a breathing-mode oscillation. Finally, a universality of fragmentation for systems made of different numbers of particles but the same interaction parameter is also found. The phenomenon is robust despite the asymmetry of the junction and admits a macroscopically-large fragmented condensate characterized by a diverging many-body position variance.

Many-Body Quantum Dynamics of a Bosonic Josephson Junction with a Finite-Range Interaction

The out-of-equilibrium quantum dynamics of a Bose gas trapped in an asymmetric double well and interacting with a finite-range interaction has been studied in real space by solving the time-dependent many-body Schrödinger equation numerically accurately using the multiconfigurational time-dependent Hartree method for bosons (MCTDHB). We have focused on the weakly interacting limit where the system is essentially condensed. We have examined the impact of the range of the interaction on the dynamics of the system, both at the mean-field and many-body levels. Explicitly, we have studied the maximal and the minimal values of the many-body position variance in each cycle of oscillation, and the overall pace of its growth. We find that the range of the interaction affects the dynamics of the system differently for the right well and the left well. We have also examined the infinite-particle limit and find that even there, the impact of the range of the interaction can only be described by a many-body theory such as MCTDHB.

Impact of the range of the interaction on the quantum dynamics of a bosonic Josephson junction

The out-of-equilibrium quantum dynamics of a bosonic Josephson junction (BJJ) with long-range interaction is studied in real space by solving the time-dependent many-body Schrödinger equation numerically accurately using the multiconfigurational time-dependent Hartree method for bosons. Having the many-boson wave-function at hand we can examine the impact of the range of the interaction on the properties of the BJJ dynamics, viz. density oscillations and their collapse, self trapping, depletion and fragmentation, as well as the position variance, both at the mean-field and many-body level. Explicitly, the frequency of the density oscillations and the time required for their collapse, the value of fragmentation at the plateau, the maximal and the minimal values of the position variance in each cycle of oscillation and the overall pace of its growth are key to our study. We find competitive effect between the interaction and the confining trap. The presence of the tail part of the interaction basically enhances the effective repulsion as the range of the interaction is increased starting from a short, finite range. But as the range becomes comparable with the trap size, the system approaches a situation where all the atoms feel a constant potential and the impact of the tail on the dynamics diminishes. There is an optimal range of the interaction in which physical quantities of the junction are attaining their extreme values.

Fidelity decay and entropy production in many-particle systems after random interaction quench

We analyze the effect of spin degree of freedom on fidelity decay and entropy production of a many-particle fermionic(bosonic) system in a mean-field, quenched by a random two-body interaction preserving many-particle spin $S$. The system Hamiltonian is represented by embedded Gaussian orthogonal ensemble (EGOE) of random matrices (for time-reversal and rotationally invariant systems) with one plus two-body interactions preserving $S$ for fermions/bosons. EGOE are paradigmatic models to study the dynamical transition from integrability to chaos in interacting many-body quantum systems. A simple general picture, in which the variances of the eigenvalue density play a central role, is obtained for describing the short-time dynamics of fidelity decay and entropy production. Using some approximations, an EGOE formula for the time ($t_{sat}$) for the onset of saturation of entropy, is also derived. These analytical EGOE results are in good agreement with numerical calculations. Moreover, both fermion and boson systems show significant spin dependence on the relaxation dynamics of the fidelity and entropy.

Condensate fraction and critical temperature of interacting Bose gas in anharmonic trap

By using a correlated many body method and using the realistic van der Waals potential we study several statistical measures like the specific heat, transition temperature and the condensate fraction of the interacting Bose gas trapped in an anharmonic potential. As the quadratic plus a quartic confinement makes the trap more tight, the transition temperature increases which makes more favourable condition to achieve Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) experimentally. BEC in 3D isotropic harmonic potential is also critically studied, the correction to the critical temperature due to finite number of atoms and also the correction due to inter-atomic interaction are calculated by the correlated many-body method. Comparison and discussion with the mean-field results are presented.

Level spacing statistics and spectral correlations in the diffuse van der Waals clusters

We present a statistical analysis of eigenenergies and discuss several measures of spectral fluctuations and spectral correlations for the van der Waals clusters of different sizes. We show that the clusters become more and more complex with increase in cluster size. We study nearest-neighbour level spacing distribution $P(s)$, the level number variance $Σ^2(L)$, and the Dyson-Mehta $Δ_3-$statistics for various cluster sizes. For large clusters we find that although the Bohigas-Giannoni-Schmit (BGS) conjecture seems to be valid, it does not exhibit true signatures of quantum chaos. However contrasting conjecture of Berry and Tabor is observed with smaller cluster size. For small number of bosons, we observe the existence of large number of quasi-degenerate states in low-lying excitation which exhibits the Shnirelman peak in $P(s)$ distribution. We also find a narrow region of intermediate spectrum which can be described by semi-Poisson statistics whereas the higher levels are regular and exhibit Poisson statistics. These observations are further supported by the analysis of the distribution of the ratio of consecutive level spacings $P(r)$ which is independent of unfolding procedure and thereby provides a tool for more transparent comparison with experimental findings than $P(s)$. Thus our detail numerical study clearly shows that the van der Waals clusters become more correlated with the increase in cluster size.

Correlated many-body calculation to study characteristics of Shannon information entropy for ultracold trapped interacting bosons

A correlated many-body calculation is presented to characterize the Shannon information entropy of trapped interacting bosons. We reformulate the one-body Shannon information entropy in terms of the one-body probability density. The minimum limit of the entropy uncertainty relation (EUR) is approached by making $N$ very small in our numerical work. We examine the effect of correlations in the calculation of information entropy. Comparison with the mean-field result shows that the correlated basis function is indeed required to characterize the important features of the information entropies. We also accurately calculate the point of critical instability of an attractive BEC, which is in close agreement with the experimental value. Next we calculate two-body entropies in position and momentum spaces and study quantum correlations in the attractive BEC.

Macroscopic quantum many-body tunneling of attractive Bose-Einstein condensate in anharmonic trap

We study the stability of attractive atomic Bose-Einstein condensate and the macroscopic quantum many-body tunneling (MQT) in the anharmonic trap. We utilize correlated two-body basis function which keeps all possible two-body correlations. The anharmonic parameter ($λ$) is slowly tuned from harmonic to anharmonic. For each choice of $λ$ the many-body equation is solved adiabatically. The use of the van der Waals interaction gives realistic picture which substantially differs from the mean-field results. For weak anharmonicity, we observe that the attractive condensate gains stability with larger number of bosons compared to that in the pure harmonic trap. The transition from resonances to bound states with weak anharmonicity also differs significantly from the earlier study of Moiseyev {\it et.al.}[J. Phys. B: At. Mol. Opt. Phys. {\bf{37}}, L193 (2004)]. We also study the tunneling of the metastable condensate very close to the critical number $N_{cr}$ of collapse and observe that near collapse the MQT is the dominant decay mechanism compared to the two-body and three-body loss rate. We also observe the power law behavior in MQT near the critical point. The results for pure harmonic trap are in agreement with mean-field results. However we fail to retrieve the power law behavior in anharmonic trap although MQT is still the dominant decay mechanism.

Dynamical features of Shannon information entropy of bosonic cloud in a tight trap

We calculate Shannon information entropy of trapped interacting bosons in both the position and momentum spaces, $S_r$ and $S_k$ respectively. The total entropy maintains the fuctional form $S=a + b \ln N$ for repulsive bosons. At the noninteracting limit the lower bound of entropic uncertainty relation is also satisfied whereas the diverging behavior of $S_r$ and $S_k$ at the critical point of collapse for attractive condensate accurately calculates the stability factor. Next we study the dynamics of Shannon information entropy with varying interparticle potential. We numerically solve the time-dependent Gross-Pitaevskii equation and study the influence of increasing nonlinearity in the dynamics of entropy uncertainty relation (EUR). We observe that for small nonlinearity the dynamics is regular. With increase in nonlinearity although Shannon entropy shows large variation in amplitude of the oscillation, the EUR is maintained throughout time for all cases and it confirms its generality. We also study the dynamics in a very tight trap when the condensate becomes highly correlated and strongly inhomogeneous. Time evolution of total entropy exhibits aperiodic and fluctuating nature in very tight trap. We also calculate Landsberg's order parameter for various interaction strengths which supports earlier observation that entropy and order are decoupled.

Energy level statistics of interacting trapped bosons

It is an well established fact that statistical properties of energy level spectra are the most efficient tool to characterize nonintegrable quantum systems. The study of statistical properties and spectral fluctuation in the interacting many boson systems have developed a new interest in this direction. Specially we are interested in the weakly interacting trapped bosons in the context of Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) as the energy spectrum shows a transition from the collective to single particle nature with the increase in the number of levels. However this has received less attention as it is believed that the system may exhibit Poisson like fluctuations due to the existence of external harmonic trap. Here we compute numerically the energy levels of the zero-temperature many-boson systems which are weakly interacting through the van der Waals potential and are in the 3D confined harmonic potential. We study the nearest neighbour spacing distribution and the spectral rigidity by unfolding the spectrum. It is found that increase in number of energy levels for repulsive BEC induces a transition from a Wigner like form displaying level repulsion to Poisson distribution for P(s). It does not follow the GOE prediction. For repulsive interaction, the lower levels are correlated and manifest level repulsion. For intermediate levels P (s) shows mixed statistic which clearly signifies the existence of two energy scales: external trap and interatomic interaction. Whereas for very high levels the trapping potential dominates, genarating Poisson distribution. Comparison with mean-field results for lower levels are also presented. For attractive BEC near the critical point we observe the Shrielman like peak near s=0 which signifies the presence of large number of quasi-degenerate states.

Supersymmetric isospectral formalism for the calculation of near-zero energy states: application to the very weakly bound ${^4}$He trimer excited state

We propose a novel mathematical approach for the calculation of near-zero energy states by solving potentials which are isospectral with the original one. For any potential, families of strictly isospectral potentials (with very different shape) having desirable and adjustable features are generated by supersymmetric isospectral formalism. The near-zero energy Efimov state in the original potential is effectively trapped in the deep well of the isospectral family and facilitates more accurate calculation of the Efimov state. Application to the first excited state in 4He trimer is presented.

Spectral fluctuation and $\frac{1}{f^α}$ noise in the energy level statistics of interacting trapped bosons

It has been recently shown numerically that the transition from integrability to chaos in quantum systems and the corresponding spectral fluctuations are characterized by $\frac{1}{f^α}$ noise with $1\leqα\leq 2$. The system of interacting trapped bosons is inhomogeneous and a complex system. The presence of external harmonic trap makes it more interesting as in the atomic trap the bosons occupy partly degenerate single-particle states. Earlier theoretical and experimental results show that at zero temperature the low-lying levels are of collective nature and high-lying excitations are of single particle nature. We observe that for few bosons, $P(s)$ distribution shows the Shnirelman peak which exhibits a large number of quasi-degenerate states. For large number of bosons the low-lying levels are strongly affected by the interatomic interaction and the corresponding level fluctuation shows a transition to Wigner with increase in particle number. It does not follow GOE (Gaussian Orthogonal Ensemble) Random Matrix predictions. For high-lying levels we observe the uncorrelated Poisson distribution. Thus it may be a very realistic system to prove that $\frac{1}{f^α}$ noise is ubiquitous in nature.

Resonance States and Quantum Tunneling of Bose Einstein condensates in a 3D shallow trap

A correlated quantum many-body method is applied to describe resonance states of atomic Bose-Einstein condensates (BEC) in a realistic shallow trap (as opposed to infinite traps commonly used). The realistic van der Waals interaction is adopted as the interatomic interaction. We calculate experimentally measurable decay rates of the lowest quasi-bound state in the shallow trap. The most striking result is the observation of a new metastable branch besides the usual one for attractive BEC in a pure harmonic trap. As the particle number increases the new metastable branch appears, then gradually disappears and finally usual metastable branch (associated with the attractive BEC in a harmonic trap) appears, eventually leading to the collapse of the condensate.
