A Study of Berry Connection and Complex Analysis for Topological Characterization

We study and present the results of Berry connection for the topological states in quantum matter. The Berry connection plays a central role in the geometric phase and topological phenomenon in quantum many-body system. We present the necessary and sufficient conditions to characterize the topological nature of the system through the complex analysis. We also present the different topological aspects of the system in the momentum space.

Characterization of Majorana-Ising phase transition in a helical liquid system

We map an interacting helical liquid system, coupled to an external magnetic field and s-wave superconductor, to an XYZ spin system, and it undergoes Majorana-Ising transition by tuning of parameters. In the Majorana state, lowest excitation gap decays exponentially with system size, and the system has degenerate ground state in the thermodynamic limit. On the contrary, the gap opens in the Ising phase even in the thermodynamic limit. We also study other criteria to characterize the transition, such as edge spin correlation with its neighbor $C(r=1)$, local susceptibility $χ_i$, superconducting order parameter of edge spin $P(r=1)$, and longitudinal structure factor $S(k)$. The ground state degeneracy and three other criteria lead to the same critical value of parameters for Majorana-Ising phase transition in the thermodynamic limit. We study, for the first time, the entanglement spectrum of the reduced density matrix of the helical liquid system. The system shows finite Schmidt gap and non-degeneracy of the entanglement spectrum in the Ising limit. The Schmidt gap closes in the Majorana state, and all the eigenvalues are either doubly or multiply degenerate.

A Study of Topological Quantum Phase Transition and Majorana Localization Length for the Interacting Helical Liquid System

We consider a helical spin liquid system which shows majorana fermion modes at the edge. The interaction between the quasiparticles in this system induces phase transition, Majorana-Ising transition. We comply the density matrix renormalization group method to study this phase transition for the entire regime of the parameter space. We observe the presence of topological quantum phase transition for repulsive interaction, however this phase is more stable for the attractive interaction. The length scale dependent study shows many new and important results and we show explicitly that the major contribution to the excitation comes from the edge of the system when the system is in the topological state. We also show the dependence of Majorana localization length for various values of chemical potential.

Topological quantum phase transition of light

We study theoretically the topological quantum phase transition in Cavity QED lattice. We predict the condition for non-topological phase to the topological phase transition conditions for three different model Hamiltonians in cavity QED lattice. We study these topological quantum phase transition through winding number, which is a topological invariant quantity. We argue that the appearance of topological phase in these systems where the discrete Z 2 symmetry broken. We show that the non-topological state is the vacuum state of the system where each cavity contains fermionic type excitations from light-matter interaction whereas the topological state of system contains Majorana modes of excitations at the end cavity of the lattice.

A Renormalization Group Study of Interacting Helical Liquid : Physics of Majorana Fermion

The physics of Majorana fermion occurs at the edge and interface of many one-dimensional quantum many body system with gapped excitation spectrum. We present the renormalization group equations for strongly interacting helical liquid. We present the results of both Majorana- Ising topological quantum phase transition and also Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless topological phase transition. We show that the Majorana-Ising topological quantum phase transition for non-interacting case is an exactly solvable line but in presence of interaction the system has no exactly solvable line. We study the effect of umklapp scattering on the renormalization group flow diagrams and also the condition for the appearence of Majorana fermion modes.

Quantum simulation of Dirac fermion mode, Majorana fermion mode and Majorana-Weyl fermion mode in cavity QED lattice

Quantum simulation aims to simulate a quantum system using a controble laboratory system that underline the same mathematical model. Cavity QED lattice system is that prescribe system to simulate the relativistic quantum effect. We quantum simulate the Dirac fermion mode, Majorana fermion mode and Majorana-Weyl fermion mode and a crossover between them in cavity QED lattice. We also present the different analytical relations between the field operators for different mode excitations.

Emergent of Majorana Fermion mode and Dirac Equation in Cavity Quantum Electrodynamics

We present the results of low lying excitation of coupled optical cavity arrays. We derive the Dirac equation for this system and explain the existence of Majorana fermion mode in the system. We present quite a few analytical relations between the Rabi frequency oscillation and the atom-photon coupling strength to achieve the different physical situation of our study and also the condition for massless excitation in the system. We present several analytical relations between the Dirac spinor field, order and disorder operators for our systems. We also show that the Luttinger liquid physics is one of the intrinsic concept in our system.

Quantum phase transition of light in coupled optical cavity arrays: A renormalization group study

We study the quantum phase transition of light of a system when atom trapped in microcavities and interacting through the exchange of virtual photons. We predict the quantum phase transition between the photonic Coulomb blocked induce insulating phase and anisotropic exchange induced photonic superfluid phase in the system due to the existence of two Rabi frequency oscillations. The renormalization group equation shows explicitly that for this system there is no self-duality. The system also shows two Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless (BKT) transitions for the different physical situation of the system. The presence of single Rabi frequency oscillation in the system leads to the BKT transition where system shows the quantum phase transition from photonic metallic state to the Coulomb blocked induced insulating phase. For the other BKT transition when the z-component of exchange interaction is absent, the system shows the transition from the photonic metallic state to the photonic superfluid phase. We also predict the commensurate to incommensurate transition under the laser field detuning.

Quantum criticality of geometric phase in coupled optical cavity arrays under linear quench

The atoms trapped in microcavities and interacting through the exchange of virtual photons can be modeled as an anisotropic Heisenberg spin-1/2 lattice. We study the dynamics of the geometric phase of this system under the linear quenching process of laser field detuning which shows the XX criticality of the geometric phase in presence of single Rabi frequency oscillation. We also study the quantum criticality for different quenching rate in the presence of single or two Rabi frequencies oscillation in the system.

Solitons and spin transport in an antiferromagnetic spin chain

We study the spin transport on a S=1/2 antiferromagnetic chain with external fields which provids a phase angle. The equation of motion becomes the sine-Gordon equation after Jordan-Wigner transformation and bosonization. Soliton solutions of the sine-Gordon equations for a system of finite length are found and the quantum fluctuations are calculated. The spin is transported as the soliton solutions evolves with the adiabatical variation of the phase angle in the phase space. We observe that the spin is transported by ΔS=1, as the phase angle changes by the period of 2π when the quantum fluctuation enables the system makes transition between two solutions. This quantum spin transport is not affected by disturbance of environment.

Quantum phases and dynamics of geometric phase in a quantum spin chain system under linear quench

We study the quantum phases of anisotropic XY spin chain system in presence and absence of adiabatic quench. A connection between geometric phase and criticality is established from the dynamical behaviour of the geometric phase for a quench induced quantum phase transition in a quantum spin chain. We predict XX criticality associated with a sequence of non-contractible geometric phases.

Collapse and revival of entanglement of two-qubit in superconducting quantum dot lattice with magnetic flux and inhomogeneous gate voltage

We study the entanglement of a two-qubit system in a superconducting quantum dot (SQD) lattice in the presence of magnetic flux and gate voltage inhomogeneity. We observe a universal feature for the half-integer magnetic flux quantum which completely washes out the entanglement of the system both at zero and finite temperature. We observe that the ground state is always in a maximally entangled Bell state when there is no inhomogeneity in gate voltage in the superconducting quantum dot lattice. We find an important constraint in magnetic flux for ground state entanglement. We also observe few behavior of entanglement at finite temperature is in contrast with the zero temperature behavior.

Magnetic flux induce dissipation effect on the quantum phase diagram of mesoscopic SQUID array

We present the quantum phase diagram of mesoscopic SQUID array. We predict different quan- tum phases and the phase boundaries along with several special points. We present the results of magnetic flux induced dissipation on these points and also on the phase boundaries. The Josephson couplings at these points are dependant on the system parameter in a more complicated fashion and differ from the Ambegaokar and Baratoff relation. We derive the analytical relation between the dissipation strength and Luttinger liquid parameter of the system. We observe some interesting behaviour at the half-integer magnetic flux quantum and also the importance of co-tunneling effect.

Quantum Phase Transition in Coupled Superconducting Quantum Dots Array with Charge Frustration

We present the quantum phase transition in two capacitively coupled arrays of superconducting quantum dots (SQD). We consider the presence of gate voltage in each superconducting island. We show explicitly that the co-tunneling process involves with two coupled SQD arrays, near the maximum charge frustration line is not sufficient to explain the correct quantum phases with physically consistent phase boundaries. We consider another extra co-tunneling process along each chain to explain the correct quantum phases with physically consistent phase boundaries. There is no evidence of supersolid phase in our study. We use Bethe-ansatz and Abelian bosonization method to solve the problem

Non-universal tunneling resistance at the quantum critical point of mesoscopic SQUIDs array

We calculate the tunnelling resistance at the quantum critical point of a mesoscopic SQUIDs array in the presence of magnetic flux. We find the analytical relation between the magnetic flux induced dissipation strength and the Luttinger liquid parameter of the system. While the experimental finding for the system is around 40-50 mK, we find the behavior of the system even at lower temperatures through the analysis of renormalization group. Apart from the length scale dependent superconductor-insulator transition, we also predict the evidence of length scale independent metallic state. This study also emphasizes the importance of Co-tunelling effect.

Quantum critical surface of the zigzag spin chain under magnetic field: Application to superconducting quantum dots

We analyze the exact ground state of XXZ zigzag spin chain with applied magnetic field and find the quantum critical surface. Using the theorem of positive semi-definite matrix, we can prove that the ground states for a specific region, are fully polarized state and one magnon states. With Bethe ansatz, we argue that this is the quantum critical surface in all cases. A first in the literature, we derive the analytical expression of quantum critical surface for superconducting quantum dots array in the presence of gate voltage.

Perfect Entanglement Transport in Quantum Spin Chain Systems

We propose a mechanism for perfect entanglement transport in anti-ferromagnetic (AFM) quantum spin chain systems with modulated exchange coupling along the xy plane and in the z direction. We use the principle of adiabatic quantum pumping process for entanglement transfer in the spin chain systems. In our proposed mechanism, perfect entanglement transfer can be achieved over an arbitraly long distance. We explain analytically and physically why the entanglement hops in alternate sites. We solve this problem by using the Berry phase analysis and Abelian bosonization methods. We find the condition for blocking of entanglement transport even in the perfect pumping condition. We also explain physically why entanglement transfer in AFM chain out performs the ferromagnetic chain. Our analytical solution interconnects quantum many body physics and quantum information science.

Quantum field theoretical study of an effective spin model in coupled optical cavity arrays

Atoms trapped in microcavities and interacting through the exchange of virtual photons can model an anisotropic Heisenberg spin-1/2 lattice. We do the quantum field theoretical study of such a system using the Abelian bosonization method followed by the renormalization group analysis. We present interesting physics due to the presence of exchange anisotropy. An infinite order Kosterliz-Thouless-Berezinskii transition is replaced by second order XY transition even an infinitesimal a small anisotropy in exchange coupling is introduced. We predict a quantum phase transition between Mott insulating and photonic superfluid phase due to detuning between the cavity and laser frequency, a large detuning favours the photonic superfluid phase. We also do the analysis of Jaynes and Cumming Hamiltonian to support results of quantum field theoretical study.
