$H^\infty$ Functional Calculus for a Commuting Pair of $\text{Ritt}_{\text{E}}$ Operators

In this article, we develop a framework for the joint functional calculus of commuting pair of $\text{Ritt}_{\text{E}}$ operators on Banach spaces. We establish a transfer principle that relates the bounded holomorphic functional calculus for pair of $\text{Ritt}_{\text{E}}$ operators to that of their associated sectorial counterparts. In addition, we prove a joint dilation theorem for commuting tuples of $\text{Ritt}_{\text{E}}$ operators on a broad class of Banach spaces. As a key application, we obtain an equivalent set of criteria on $L^p$-spaces for $1<p< \infty$ that determine when a commuting pair of $\text{Ritt}_{\text{E}}$ operators admits a joint bounded functional calculus.

Hybrid quantum-classical matrix-product state and Lanczos methods for electron-phonon systems with strong electronic correlations: Application to disordered systems coupled to Einstein phonons

We present two quantum-classical hybrid methods for simulating the time-dependence of electron-phonon systems that treat electronic correlations numerically exactly and optical-phonon degrees of freedom classically. These are a time-dependent Lanczos and a matrix-product state method, each combined with the multi-trajectory Ehrenfest approach. Due to the approximations, reliable results are expected for the adiabatic regime of small phonon frequencies. We discuss the convergence properties of both methods for a system of interacting spinless fermions in one dimension and provide a benchmark for the Holstein chain. As a first application, we study the decay of charge density wave order in a system of interacting spinless fermions coupled to Einstein oscillators and in the presence of quenched disorder. We investigate the dependence of the relaxation dynamics on the electron-phonon coupling strength and provide numerical evidence that the coupling of strongly disordered systems to classical oscillators leads to delocalization, thus destabilizing the (finite-size) many-body localization in this system.

Gated-SwinRMT: Unifying Swin Windowed Attention with Retentive Manhattan Decay via Input-Dependent Gating

We introduce Gated-SwinRMT, a family of hybrid vision transformers that combine the shifted-window attention of the Swin Transformer with the Manhattan-distance spatial decay of Retentive Networks (RMT), augmented by input-dependent gating. Self-attention is decomposed into consecutive width-wise and height-wise retention passes within each shifted window, where per-head exponential decay masks provide a two-dimensional locality prior without learned positional biases. Two variants are proposed.Gated-SwinRMT-SWAT substitutes softmax with sigmoid activation, implements balanced ALiBi slopes with multiplicative post-activation spatial decay, and gates the value projection via SwiGLU; the Normalized output implicitly suppresses uninformative attention scores. \textbf{Gated-SwinRMT-Retention} retains softmax-normalized retention with an additive log-space decay bias and incorporates an explicit G1 sigmoid gate -- projected from the block input and applied after local context enhancement (LCE) but prior to the output projection~$W_O$ -- to alleviate the low-rank $W_V \!\cdot\! W_O$ bottleneck and enable input-dependent suppression of attended outputs. We assess both variants on Mini-ImageNet ($224{\times}224$, 100 classes) and CIFAR-10 ($32{\times}32$, 10 classes) under identical training protocols, utilizing a single GPU due to resource limitations. At ${\approx}77$--$79$\,M parameters, Gated-SwinRMT-SWAT achieves $80.22\%$ and Gated-SwinRMT-Retention $78.20\%$ top-1 test accuracy on Mini-ImageNet, compared with $73.74\%$ for the RMT baseline. On CIFAR-10 -- where small feature maps cause the adaptive windowing mechanism to collapse attention to global scope -- the accuracy advantage compresses from $+6.48$\,pp to $+0.56$\,pp.

Breakdown of bosonic Thouless pump due to interaction in a quasiperiodic lattice

We investigate the effect of inter-particle interaction on the quantized Thouless pump in the bosonic quasiperiodic Aubry-Andr{é} model and find that the quantization of the pumped charge breaks down already for weak interactions. Furthermore, the pumped charge undergoes sharp changes as a function of interaction strength that we can attribute to the closing of specific doublon channels. As expected, the quantization revives in the hard-core limit at very large interaction strengths where the bosons are subject to a hardcore constraint. Interestingly, the stability of isolated doublons under the pump depends on the band they are in. For repulsive interactions and a suitably fixed pump period, doublons in the lowest band are pumped stably while doublons in higher bands dissociate during the pump with one particle decaying into a lower band. This asymmetry leads to the decay of the total energy over time, in stark contrast to the typical Floquet heating expected for a driven many-body system.

Scattered Behavior Using Modified Cyclotomic Mapping Over Finite Fields Of Odd Characteristic

Introduced by Sheekey in 2016, the study of scattered polynomials over a finite field $\mathbb{F}_{q^n}$ has been increasing regarding the classification of those that are exceptional, i.e., polynomials which are scattered over infinite field extensions, are limited to the cases where their index $t$ is small, or a prime number larger than the q-degree k of the polynomial, or an integer smaller than k in the case where k is a prime. In this paper, we focus on the scattered behavior of $S(x)=\sum_{i=1}^k a_ix^{q^{r_i}} \in \mathbb{F}_{q^n}[x]$, where $q$ is a power of an odd prime, $0<r_1<r_2< \cdots<r_k<n$ and $a_1, \cdots,a_k \in \mathbb{F}_{q^n}^*$ such that the order of $a_i$'s divide $(q^{r_1}-1)$, $\forall i=2,3,\cdots,k $. We explore a connection between $S(x)$ and the cyclotomic mapping polynomial. As an application, in three parts, we discuss the scattered behavior of $S(x)$ of index $t$ where $t=r_1$, or $0<t<r_1$, or $r_1<t<n$. Starting with the pseudoregulus type of index $t \geq 0$, we present conditions to verify scattered behavior of $S(x)$ of index $r_1$. With some additional conditions, we do the same in case $0<t<r_1$ or $r_1<t<n$. In particular, for $S(x)=a_1x^{q^{r_1}}+a_2x^{q^{r_2}} \in \mathbb{F}_{q^n}[x]$ with $a_1,a_2 \in \mathbb{F}_{q^n}^*$ such that $|a_2| \mid q^{r_1}-1$, we present a necessary and sufficient condition to verify its scattered behavior of index $t \in \{r_1,r_2\}$. We also connect such scattered binomials with the well known Lunardon-Polverino polynomial. With conditions on $δ, q,n$, and $r$; we present a new family of exceptional scattered polynomial $S(x)=x^q+δx^{q^{(2r+1)}} \in \mathbb{F}_{q^n}[x]$ of index $\{r+1\}$.

Further Investigation on Cyclotomic Mapping Permutation Polynomials over Finite Fields

We explore the connection between cyclotomic mapping permutation polynomials and permutation polynomials of the form $x^rf(x^{\frac{q-1}{l}})$ over finite fields. We present a new necessary and a new sufficient condition to verify permutation behavior of such polynomials over finite field. As its application, for particular values of $r$, we point out some permutation trinomials of the form $P(x)=2x^{r+8}+x^{r+4}+2x^r \in \mathbb{F}_{13}[x]$, and work on few classes of permutation binomials.

Anomalous slow-down of the bound state dynamics in a non-locally coupled quantum circuit

Additional hopping channels in a tight-binding lattice is known to introduce faster dynamics of a quantum mechanical particle. However, we show that in the case of a repulsively bound state, the dynamics becomes abnormally slow when next-nearest neighbor (NNN) hopping is allowed for the particles. We show that such slowing down occurs for some magic strength of the NNN hopping at which the bound state band exhibits a quasi-flatband feature. We reveal this anomalous dynamical behavior by analyzing the quench dynamics of two nearest neighbor (NN) spin excitations (magnons) on a ferromagnetic chain by allowing both NN and NNN couplings. By implementing digital quantum computing simulations on a NISQ device, we obtain such non-trivial signatures and complement the results with exact numerical calculations. Moreover, through perturbative arguments, we reveal that the slowing down is due to the destructive interference between different paths associated to the bound state dynamics.

Weak Itinerant Ferromagnetism (WIFM) in MAX phase compound Cr$_{1.9}$Fe$_{0.1}$GeC

Magnetic MAX phase compounds are important materials for studying the two-dimensional magnetism because of their layered crystallographic structure. The hexagonal MAX phase compound Cr$_2$GeC is a Pauli paramagnet, and here we report the induction of an ordered magnetic state by doping Fe at the Cr site. Induced magnetism for small doping concentrations (indicated as 5% and 2.5%) is found to have a weak itinerant ferromagnetic character. The Rhodes-Wolhfarth ratio is found to be 13.29, while the coefficient of electronic heat capacity ($Γ$) is 27 mJ-mol$^{-1}$K$^{-2}$ for Cr$_{1.9}$Fe$_{0.1}$GeC. Our x-ray magnetic circular dichorism measurement confirms that the magnetic moment arises from the Fe atom only, and Cr has negligible contribution towards the ordered moment. Our critical analysis indicates that the magnetic phase transition in Cr$_{1.9}$Fe$_{0.1}$GeC follows mean field theory.

A Robust Machine Learned Interatomic Potential for Nb: Collision Cascade Simulations with accurate Defect Configurations

Niobium (Nb) and its alloys are extensively used in various technological applications owing to their favorable mechanical, thermal and irradiation properties. Accurately modeling Nb under irradiation is essential for predicting microstructural changes, defect evolution, and overall material performance. Traditional interatomic potentials for Nb fail to predict the correct self-interstitial atom (SIA) configuration, a critical factor in radiation damage simulations. We develop a machine learning interatomic potential (MLIP) using the Spectral Neighbor Analysis Potential (SNAP) framework, trained on ab-initio Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations, which accurately captures the relative stability of different SIA dumbbell configurations. The resulting potential reproduces DFT-level accuracy while maintaining computational efficiency for large-scale Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations. Through a series of validation tests involving elastic, thermal, and defect properties -- including collision cascade simulations -- we show that our SNAP potential resolves persistent limitations in existing Embedded Atom Method (EAM) and Finnis--Sinclair (FS) potentials and is effective for MD simulations of collision cascades. Notably, it accurately captures the ground-state SIA configuration of Nb in the primary damage of a collision cascade, offering a robust tool for predictive irradiation studies.

Idempotents of $\mathbb{Z}_n$

We know that if there are $k$ distinct prime factors of $n \in \mathbb{N}$, then the ring $\mathbb{Z}_n$ of integers modulo $n$ has exactly $2^k$ idempotent elements. In this article, we try to describe all the idempotents of $\mathbb{Z}_n$ for any given $n \in \mathbb{N}$.

Symmetry-Enriched Criticality in a Coupled Spin-Ladder

We study a one-dimensional ladder of two coupled XXZ spin chains and identify several distinct gapless symmetry-enriched critical phases. These have the same unbroken symmetries and long-wavelength description, but cannot be connected without encountering either a phase transition or other intermediate phases. Using bosonizaion, we analyze the nature of their distinction by determining how microscopic symmetries are manifested in the long-wavelength fields, the behavior of charged local and nonlocal operators, and identify the universality class of all direct continuous phase transitions between them. One of these phases is a gapless topological phase with protected edge modes. We characterize its precise nature and place it within the broader classification. We also find the occurrence of `multiversality' in the phase diagram, wherein two fixed phases are separated by continuous transitions with different universality classes in different parameter regimes. We determine the phase diagram and all its aspects, as well as verify our predictions numerically using density matrix renormalization group and a mapping onto an effective spin-1 model.

Delocalization in a partially disordered interacting many-body system

We study a partially disordered one-dimensional system with interacting particles. Concretely, we impose a disorder potential to only every other site, followed by a clean site. Our numerical analysis of eigenstate properties is based on the entanglement entropy and density distributions. Most importantly, at large disorder, there exist eigenstates with large entanglement entropies and significant correlations between the clean sites. These states have volume-law scaling, embedded into a sea of area-law states, reminiscent of inverted quantum-scar states. These eigenstate features leave fingerprints in the nonequilibrium dynamics even in the large-disorder regime, with a strong initial-state dependence. We demonstrate that certain types of initial charge-density-wave states decay significantly, while others preserve their initial inhomogeneity, the latter being the typical behavior for many-body localized systems. This initial-condition dependent dynamics may give extra control over the delocalization dynamics at large disorder strength and should be experimentally feasible with ultracold atoms in optical lattices.

Enhanced many-body localization in a kinetically constrained model

In the study of the thermalization of closed quantum systems, the role of kinetic constraints on the temporal dynamics and the eventual thermalization is attracting significant interest. Kinetic constraints typically lead to long-lived metastable states depending on initial conditions. We consider a model of interacting hardcore bosons with an additional kinetic constraint that was originally devised to capture glassy dynamics at high densities. As a main result, we demonstrate that the system is highly prone to localization in the presence of uncorrelated disorder. Adding disorder quickly triggers long-lived dynamics as evidenced in the time evolution of density autocorrelations. Moreover, the kinetic constraint favors localization also in the eigenstates, where a finite-size transition to a many-body localized phase occurs for much lower disorder strengths than for the same model without a kinetic constraint. Our work sheds light on the intricate interplay of kinetic constraints and localization and may provide additional control over many-body localized phases in the time domain.

Phonon-induced breakdown of Thouless pumping in the Rice-Mele-Holstein model

Adiabatic and periodic variation of the lattice parameters can make it possible to transport charge through a system even without net external electric or magnetic fields, known as Thouless charge pumping. The amount of charge pumped in a cycle is quantized and entirely determined by the system's topology, which is robust against perturbations such as disorder and interactions. However, coupling to the environment may play a vital role in topological transport in many-body systems. We study the topological Thouless pumping, where the charge carriers interact with local optical phonons. The semi-classical multi-trajectory Ehrenfest method is employed to treat the phonon trajectories classically and charge carriers quantum mechanically. We find a breakdown of the quantized charge transport in the presence of phonons. It happens for any finite electron-phonon coupling strength at the resonance condition when the pumping frequency matches the phonon frequency, and it takes finite phonon coupling strength away from the resonance. Moreover, there exist parameter regimes with non-quantized negative and positive charge transport. The modified effective pumping path due to electron-phonon coupling accurately explains the underlying physics. In the large coupling regime where the pumping disappears, the phonons are found to eliminate the staggering of the onsite potentials, which is necessary for the pumping protocol. Finally, we present a stability diagram of quantized pumping as a function of time period of pumping and phonon coupling strength.

Interacting bosons on a Su-Schrieffer-Heeger ladder: Topological phases and Thouless pumping

We study the topological properties of hardcore bosons on a two-leg ladder consisting of two Su-Schrieffer-Heeger (SSH) chains that are coupled via hopping and interaction. We chart out the phase diagram for the system and show that based on the relative hopping dimerization pattern along the legs, distinctly different topological phases and phase transitions can occur. When the dimerization along the legs are uniform, we find that the topological nature vanishes for even the slightest rung hopping. For staggered dimerization, the system exhibits a well defined topological character and a topological phase transition as a function of rung hopping. While the topological phase shows bond order character, the trivial phase shows the behavior of a rung-Mott insulator. For this case, the topological nature is found to survive even in the presence of finite inter-leg interactions. Moreover, we find that the critical point of the topological phase transition shifts to a higher or a lower rung hopping strength depending on the attractive or repulsive nature of the interaction. To highlight the marked effects of interactions, we propose a scheme involving a Thouless charge pump that provides insights for the topological phases characterized by a quantised particle transport through a periodic modulation of appropriate system parameters. In our studies, we show an interaction induced charge pumping following specific pumping protocols in the case of staggered dimerization.

Realizing a symmetry protected topological phase through dimerized interactions

We show that in a system of one dimensional spinless fermions a topological phase and phase transition can emerge only through interaction. By allowing a dimerized or bond-alternating nearest neighbour interaction we show that the system exhibits a symmetry protected topological phase while its non-interacting limit is a gapless state. The non-trivial topological character appears due to the onset of two degenerate bond-order phases as a function of dimerized interaction which are found to be topologically distinct from each other. As a result a topological phase transition occurs between these bond order phases through a gap closing point. However, in the limit of strong interaction, the bond order phases are connected through a gapped charge density wave phase possessing local antiferromagnetic order. The topological nature is characterized by the edge states, Berry phase and non-local string order parameter. At the end we provide possible experimental signatures of the emergent symmetry protected topological phase transition in terms of Thouless charge pumping and density-density correlation.

Self organized criticality of magnetic avalanches in disordered ferrimagnetic material

We observe multiple step-like jumps in a Dy-Fe-Ga-based ferrimagnetic alloy in its magnetic hysteresis curve at 2 K. The observed jumps have a stochastic character with respect to their magnitude and the critical field of occurrence, and the jumps do not show any temporal effect. The jump size distribution follows a power law variation indicating the scale invariance nature of the jumps. We have invoked a simple two-dimensional random bond Ising-type spin system to model the dynamics. Our computational work can qualitatively reproduce the jumps and their scale invariant character. It also elucidates that the flipping of antiferromagnetically coupled Dy and Fe clusters is responsible for the observed discrete avalanche-like features in the hysteresis loop. These characteristics indicate that the present phenomenon can be well described within the realm of self-organized criticality

Signatures of non-trivial pairing in the quantum walk of two-component bosons

Nearest neighbour bosons possessing only onsite interactions do not form onsite bound pairs in their quantum walk due to fermionization. We obtain signatures of non-trivial onsite pairing in the quantum walk of strongly interacting two component bosons in a one dimensional lattice. By considering an initial state with particles from different components located at the nearest-neighbour sites in the central region of the lattice, we show that in the dynamical evolution of the system, competing intra- and inter-component onsite repulsion leads to the formation of onsite inter-component bound states. We find that when the total number of particles is three, an inter-component pair is favoured in the limit of equal intra- and inter-component interaction strengths. However, when two bosons from each species are considered, inter-component pairs and trimer are favoured depending on the ratios of the intra- and inter-component interactions. In both the cases, we find that the quantum walks exhibit a re-entrant behaviour as a function of inter-component interaction.
