Resource Allocation for STAR-RIS-enhanced Metaverse Systems with Augmented Reality

Augmented reality (AR)-enabled Metaverse is a promising technique to provide immersive service experience for mobile users. However, the limited network resources and unpredictable wireless propagation environments are key design bottlenecks of AR-enabled Metaverse systems. Therefore, this paper presents a resource management framework for simultaneously transmitting and reflecting RIS (STAR-RIS)-assisted AR-enabled Metaverse, where the STAR-RIS is configured to improve the communication efficiency between AR users and the Metaverse server located at the base station (BS). Moreover, we formulate a service latency minimization problem via jointly optimizing the computation resource allocation of the BS, coefficient matrix of the STAR-RIS, central processing unit (CPU) frequency and transmit power of the AR users. To tackle the non-convex problem, we utilize an approximate method to transform it to a tractable form, and decouple the multi-dimensional variables via the alternating optimization method. Particularly, the optimal coefficient matrix is obtained by a penalty function-based method with proved convergence, the CPU frequencies of AR users are derived as the closed-form solution, and the transmit power of AR users and computation resource allocation of the BS are obtained by the Lagrange duality method and convex optimization theory. Finally, simulation results demonstrates that the proposed method achieves remarkable latency reduction than several benchmark methods.

DocReward: A Document Reward Model for Structuring and Stylizing

Recent agentic workflows automate professional document generation but focus narrowly on textual quality, overlooking structural and stylistic professionalism, which is equally critical for readability. This gap stems mainly from a lack of effective reward models capable of guiding agents toward producing documents with high structural and stylistic professionalism. We introduce DocReward, a document reward model that evaluates documents based on their structure and style. To achieve this, we propose a textual-quality-agnostic framework that ensures assessments are not confounded by content quality, and construct DocPair, a dataset of 117K paired documents covering 32 domains and 267 types. Each pair shares identical content but differs in structural and stylistic professionalism. DocReward is trained using the Bradley-Terry loss. On a manually annotated benchmark, DocReward outperforms GPT-5 by 14.6 percentage points in the same setting. Reinforcement learning experiments further show that DocReward effectively guides agents toward generating documents with consistently higher structural and stylistic professionalism, highlighting its practical utility.

Intelligent Reflecting Surface Enhanced D2D Cooperative Computing

This paper investigates a device-to-device (D2D) cooperative computing system, where an user can offload part of its computation task to nearby idle users with the aid of an intelligent reflecting surface (IRS). We propose to minimize the total computing delay via jointly optimizing the computation task assignment, transmit power, bandwidth allocation, and phase beamforming of the IRS. To solve the formulated problem, we devise an alternating optimization algorithm with guaranteed convergence. In particular, the task assignment strategy is derived in closed-form expression, while the phase beamforming is optimized by exploiting the semi-definite relaxation (SDR) method. Numerical results demonstrate that the IRS enhanced D2D cooperative computing scheme can achieve a much lower computing delay as compared to the conventional D2D cooperative computing strategy.
