Noncommutative inspired Schwarzschild black hole, Voros product and Komar energy

The importance of the Voros product in defining a noncommutative Schwarzschild black hole is shown. The entropy is then computed and the area law is shown to hold upto order $\frac{1}{\sqrtθ}e^{-M^2/θ}$. The leading correction to the entropy (computed in the tunneling formalism) is shown to be logarithmic. The Komar energy $E$ for these black holes is then obtained and a deformation from the conventional identity $E=2ST_H$ is found at the order $\sqrtθe^{-M^2/θ}$. This deformation leads to a nonvanishing Komar energy at the extremal point $T_{H}=0$ of these black holes. Finally, the Smarr formula is worked out. Similar features also exist for a deSitter-Schwarzschild geometry. This presentation is based on the work in references [1,2].

Analytic study of properties of holographic p-wave superconductors

In this paper, we analytically investigate the properties of p-wave holographic superconductors in $AdS_{4}$-Schwarzschild background by two approaches, one based on the Sturm-Liouville eigenvalue problem and the other based on the matching of the solutions to the field equations near the horizon and near the asymptotic $AdS$ region. The relation between the critical temperature and the charge density has been obtained and the dependence of the expectation value of the condensation operator on the temperature has been found. Our results are in very good agreement with the existing numerical results. The critical exponent of the condensation also comes out to be 1/2 which is the universal value in the mean field theory.

Analytic study of Gauss-Bonnet holographic superconductors in Born-Infeld electrodynamics

Using Sturm-Liouville (SL) eigenvalue problem, we investigate several properties of holographic s-wave superconductors in Gauss-Bonnet gravity with Born-Infeld electrodynamics in the probe limit. Our analytic scheme has been found to be in good agreement with the numerical results. From our analysis it is quite evident that the scalar hair formation at low temperatures is indeed affected by both the Gauss-Bonnet as well as the Born-Infeld coupling parameters. We also compute the critical exponent associated with the condensation near the critical temperature. The value of the critical exponent thus obtained indeed suggests a universal mean field behavior.

Quantum mechanics of a charged particle in a background magnetic field interacting with linearized gravitational waves

We consider the dynamics of a charged particle interacting with background electromagnetic field under the influence of linearized gravitational waves in the long wave-length and low-velocity limit. Following the prescription in \cite{speli}, the system is quantized and the Hamiltonian is then solved by using standard algebraic iterative methods. The solution is in conformity with the classical analysis and shows the possibility of tuning the frequency by changing the magnetic field to set up resonance.

Analytic study of properties of holographic superconductors in Born-Infeld electrodynamics

In this paper, based on the Sturm-Liouville eigenvalue problem, we analytically investigate several properties of holographic s-wave superconductors in the background of a Schwarzschild-AdS spacetime in the framework of Born-Infeld electrodynamics. Based on a perturbative approach, we explicitly find the relation between the critical temperature and the charge density and also the fact that the Born-Infeld coupling parameter indeed affects the formation of scalar hair at low temperatures. Higher value of the Born-Infeld parameter results in a harder condensation to form. We further compute the critical exponent associated with the condensation near the critical temperature. The analytical results obtained are found to be in good agreement with the existing numerical results.

Statistical interparticle potential on noncommutative space

We compute the statistical potential between two particles in the coherent state formalism on the deformed configuration space. The result obtained by using the coherent states having a further degree of freedom (proposed in \cite{rohwer}) is compatible with Pauli's exclusion principle reassuring the fact that noncommutative quantum mechanics may in some way encode the notion of physical extent and structure.

Hamiltonian analysis of symmetries in a massive theory of gravity

We construct the generator of hamiltonian gauge symmetries in a 2+1 dimensional massive theory of gravity, proposed recently, through a systematic off-shell algorithm. Using a field dependant map among gauge parameters we show that the symmetries obtained from this generator are on-shell equivalent to the Poincaré gauge symmetries. We also clarify certain subtle issues concerning the implementation of this map.

Voros product and the Pauli principle at low energies

Using the Voros star product, we investigate the status of the two particle correlation function to study the possible extent to which the previously proposed violation of the Pauli principle may impact at low energies. The results show interesting features which are not present in the computations made using the Moyal star product.

Noncommutative quantum mechanics of a harmonic oscillator under linearized gravitational waves

We consider the quantum dynamics of a harmonic oscillator in noncommutative space under the influence of linearized gravitational waves (GW) in the long wave-length and low-velocity limit. Following the prescription in \cite{ncgw1} we quantize the system. The Hamiltonian of the system is solved by using standard algebraic iterative methods. The solution shows signatures of the coordinate noncommutativity via alterations in the oscillation frequency of the harmonic oscillator system from its commutative counterpart. Moreover, it is found that the response of the harmonic oscillator to periodic GW, when their frequencies match, will oscillate with a time scale imposed by the NC parameter. We expect this noncommutative signature to show up as some noise source in the GW detection experiments since the recent phenomenological upper-bounds set on spatial noncommutative parameter implies a length-scale comparable to the length-variations due to the passage of gravitational waves, detectable in the present day GW detectors.

Voros product, noncommutative inspired Reissner-Nordstr{ö}m black hole and corrected area law

We emphasize the importance of the Voros product in defining a noncommutative inspired Reissner-Nordström black hole. The entropy of this black hole is then computed in the tunneling approach and is shown to obey the area law at the next to leading order in the noncommutative parameter $θ$. Modifications to entropy/area law is then obtained by going beyond the semi-classical approximation. The leading correction to the semiclassical entropy/area law is found to be logarithmic and its coefficient involves the noncommutative parameter $θ$.

Komar energy and Smarr formula for noncommutative Schwarzschild black hole

We calculate the Komar energy $E$ for a noncommutative Schwarzschild black hole. A deformation from the conventional identity $E=2ST_H$ is found in the next to leading order computation in the noncommutative parameter $θ$ (i.e. $\mathcal{O}(\sqrtθe^{-M^2/θ})$) which is also consistent with the fact that the area law now breaks down. This deformation yields a nonvanishing Komar energy at the extremal point $T_{H}=0$ of these black holes. We then work out the Smarr formula, clearly elaborating the differences from the standard result $M=2ST_H$, where the mass ($M$) of the black hole is identified with the asymptotic limit of the Komar energy. Similar conclusions are also shown to hold for a deSitter--Schwarzschild geometry.

Voros product, Noncommutative Schwarzschild Black Hole and Corrected Area Law

We show the importance of the Voros product in defining a noncommutative Schwarzschild black hole. The corrected entropy/area-law is then computed in the tunneling formalism. Two types of corrections are considered; one, due to the effects of noncommutativity and the other, due to the effects of going beyond the semiclassical approximation. The leading correction to the semiclassical entropy/area-law is logarithmic and its coefficient involves the noncommutative parameter.

Symmetries of topological gravity with torsion in the hamiltonian and lagrangian formalisms

A systematic analysis of the symmetries of topological 3D gravity with torsion and a cosmological term, in the first order formalism, has been performed in details - both in the hamiltonian and lagrangian formalisms. This illuminates the connection between the symmetries of curved spacetime (diffeomorphisms plus local Lorentz transformations) with the Poincare gauge transformations. The Poincare gauge symmetries of the action are shown to be inequivalent to its gauge symmetries. Finally, the complete analysis is compared with the metric formulation where the diffeomorphism symmetry is shown to be equivalent to the gauge symmetry.

Aspects of Diffeomorphism and Conformal invariance in classical Liouville theory

The interplay between the diffeomorphism and conformal symmetries (a feature common in quantum field theories) is shown to be exhibited for the case of black holes in two dimensional classical Liouville theory. We show that although the theory is conformally invariant in the near horizon limit, there is a breaking of the diffeomorphism symmetry at the classical level. On the other hand, in the region away from the horizon, the conformal symmetry of the theory gets broken with the diffeomorphism symmetry remaining intact.

Hawking radiation from black holes in de Sitter spaces via covariant anomalies

We apply the covariant anomaly cancellation method to compute the Hawking fluxes from the event and cosmic horizons of the Schwarzschild-de Sitter black hole. The derivation is new from the existing ones as we split the space in three different regions (near to and away from the event and cosmic horizons) and write down the covariant energy-momentum tensor using three step functions which covers the whole region leading elegantly to the conditions required to compute the Hawking fluxes from the event and cosmic horizons.

Noncommutative quantum mechanics of a test particle under linearized gravitational waves

We consider the quantum dynamics of a test particle in noncommutative space under the influence of linearized gravitational waves in the long wave-length and low-velocity limit. A prescription for quantizing the classical Hamiltonian for the interaction of gravitational wave with matter in noncommutative space is proposed. The Hamiltonian (and hence the system) is then exactly solved by using standard algebraic methods. The solutions show prominent signatures of the noncommutative nature of space. Computation of the expectation value of the particle's position reveals the inherent quantum nature of spacetime noncommutativity.

Path integral action of a particle in the non commutative plane

Non commutative quantum mechanics can be viewed as a quantum system represented in the space of Hilbert-Schmidt operators acting on non commutative configuration space. Taking this as departure point, we formulate a coherent state approach to the path integral representation of the transition amplitude. From this we derive an action for a particle moving in the non commutative plane and in the presence of an arbitrary potential. We find that this action is non local in time. However, this non locality can be removed by introducing an auxilary field, which leads to a second class constrained system that yields the non commutative Heisenberg algebra upon quantization. Using this action the propagator of the free particle and harmonic oscillator are computed explicitly. For the harmonic oscillator this action yields the frequencies already obtained by other means in the literature.

String non(anti)commutativity for Neveu-Schwarz boundary conditions

The appearance of non(anti)commutativity in superstring theory, satisfying the Neveu-Schwarz boundary conditions is discussed in this paper. Both an open free superstring and also one moving in a background antisymmetric tensor field are analyzed to illustrate the point that string non(anti)commutativity is a consequence of the nontrivial boundary conditions. The method used here is quite different from several other approaches where boundary conditions were treated as constraints. An interesting observation of this study is that, one requires that the bosonic sector satisfies Dirichlet boundary conditions at one end and Neumann at the other in the case of the bosonic variables $X^μ$ being antiperiodic. The non(anti)commutative structures derived in this paper also leads to the closure of the super constraint algebra which is essential for the internal consistency of our analysis.
