Explicit Superconic Curves

Conics and Cartesian ovals are very important curves in various fields of science. Also aspheric curves based on conics are useful in optics. Superconic curves recently suggested by A. Greynolds are extensions of both conics and Cartesian ovals and have been applied to optics while they are not extensions of aspheric curves based on conics. In this work, we investigate another kind of superconic curves that are extensions of not only conics and Cartesian ovals but also aspheric curves based on conics. Moreover, the superconic curves are represented in explicit form while Greynolds' superconic curves are in implicit form.

Quantum Mechanics on the h-deformed Quantum Plane

We find the covariant deformed Heisenberg algebra and the Laplace-Beltrami operator on the extended $h$-deformed quantum plane and solve the Schrödinger equations explicitly for some physical systems on the quantum plane. In the commutative limit the behaviour of a quantum particle on the quantum plane becomes that of the quantum particle on the Poincaré half-plane, a surface of constant negative Gaussian curvature. We show the bound state energy spectra for particles under specific potentials depend explicitly on the deformation parameter $h$. Moreover, it is shown that bound states can survive on the quantum plane in a limiting case where bound states on the Poincaré half-plane disappear.

Linear Connections on Graphs

In recent years, discrete spaces such as graphs attract much attention as models for physical spacetime or as models for testing the spirit of non-commutative geometry. In this work, we construct the differential algebras for graphs by extending the work of Dimakis et al and discuss linear connections and curvatures on graphs. Especially, we calculate connections and curvatures explicitly for the general nonzero torsion case. There is a metric, but no metric-compatible connection in general except the complete symmetric graph with two vertices.

Two-parameter quantum groups and quantum planes

Usually the generators of a quantum group are assumed to be commutative with the noncommuting coordinates of a quantum plane. We have relaxed the assumption and investigated its consequences. Not only does a two-parameter quantum group arise naturally, but also the formulation leads us to many probable quantum planes associated with a quantum group. Several examples are presented.
