On primitive Pythagorean triples of special forms

We explore primitive Pythagorean triples of special forms $(a,b,b+g)$ and $(a,a+f,c)$, with $g,f\in\mathbb{Z}^+$. For each $g$ and $f$, we provide a method to generate infinitely many such primitive triples. Lastly, for each $g$, we describe the asymptotic density of primitive $(a,b,b+g)$ triples within all primitive triples of the same parity.

Arithmetic local constants for abelian varieties with extra endomorphisms

This work generalizes the theory of arithmetic local constants, introduced by Mazur and Rubin, to better address abelian varieties with a larger endomorphism ring than $\mathbb{Z}$. We then study the growth of the $p^\infty$-Selmer rank of our abelian variety, and we address the problem of extending the results of Mazur and Rubin to dihedral towers $k\subset K\subset F$ in which $[F:K]$ is not a $p$-power extension.

Computing local constants for CM elliptic curves

For E/k an elliptic curve with CM by O, we determine a formula for (a generalization of) the arithmetic local constant of [4] at almost all primes of good reduction. We apply this formula to the CM curves defined over Q and are able to describe extensions F/Q over which the O-rank of E grows.

Comparing local constants of elliptic curves in dihedral extensions

In this paper, we study the theories of analytic and arithmetic local constants of elliptic curves, with the work of Rohrlich, for the former, and the work of Mazur and Rubin, for the latter, as a basis. With the Parity Conjecture as motivation, one expects that the arithmetic local constants should be the algebraic additive counterparts to ratios of local analytic root numbers. We calculate the constants on both sides in various cases, establishing this connection for a substantial class of elliptic curves. By calculating the arithmetic constants in some new cases, we also extend the class of elliptic curves for which one can determine lower bounds for the growth of p-Selmer rank in dihedral extensions of number fields.

On the Dimension of AG Trace Codes

We shall derive conditions in which a general formula for the dimension of q-ary trace codes induced by algebraic-geometric codes. Significant to this result are several dimension reducing methods for the underlying functions spaces associated to q-ary trace codes.
