Green synthesis of eco-friendly silver nanoparticles using Coffee arabica leaf extract and development of a cost-effective biosensor for cysteine

The thirst for fabricating environment friendly silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) as biosensors via the green route is highly demanded among researchers due to their free of cost and less impact on creating pollution compared to other methods involving risk interference from toxic chemicals as reducing, stabilizing and capping agents. Here, for the first time, Coffee arabica leaf extracts (CAE) were used for the production of highly stable AgNPs in an easy and eco-friendly manner. Within ten minutes, we can visually confirm the reduction of Ag+ to Ag0 from a change of yellow color to dark brown by the addition of silver nitrate (AgNO3) solution with CAE. The structural, optical, stability, morphological and elemental characteristics of CAE-reduced AgNPs (CAE-AgNPs) were investigated using ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy, Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy in ATR mode (FTIR-ATR), Raman spectroscopy, Zeta potential analyzer and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The prepared CAE-AgNPs show good sensing performance for the amino acid L-cysteine (Cys) with high sensitivity, a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.1 nM, selectivity and good stability. Hence, the proposed novel method is highly promoted among other nanoengineered green AgNPs in the medical field as a valuable biosensor.

Trapping the carrier in the spin-locked MoS2 atomic valley by absorption of chiral L-cysteine

This work, demonstrate enhanced valley contrasting spin-momentum locked chiral states at van der Waal interface of chiral L-cysteine and mono-atomically thin MoS2 placed at Si/SiO2 substrate at ambient condition. Helicity dependent photoluminescence and resonance Raman measurement highlights spin-locked transitions for chiral L-cysteine modified SL MoS2 at ambient condition. Selective adsorption of chiral L-cysteine dimer /cystine on monolayer MoS2, stabilizes the in-plane effective magnetic field due to Si/SiO2 substrate and blocks the intervalley spin relaxation. The observed polarisation efficiency will be useful for improving the functionality of valley-based light emitting diode (LEDs) and encoding information in logical devices.

A microstructural analysis of 2D halide perovskites: Stability and functionality

Recent observations indicated that the photoelectric conversion properties of perovskite materials are intimately related to the presence of superlattice structures and other unusual nanoscale features in them. The low dimensional or mixed dimensional halide perovskite family are found to be more efficient materials for device application compared to 3-dimensional halide perovskites. The emergence of perovskite solar cell has revolutionized the solar cell industry because of their flexible architecture and rapidly increased efficiency. Tuning the dielectric constant, charge separation are the main objective in designing a photovoltaic device that can be explored using 2-dimensional perovskite family. Thus, revisiting the fundamental properties of perovskite crystals could reveal further possibilities for recognizing these improvements towards device functionality. In this context, this review discusses the material properties of 2-dimensional halide perovskite and related optoelectronic devices aiming particularly for solar cell application.
