The propagation of intense laser pulses and the generation of high energy electrons from the underdense plasmas are investigated using two dimensional particle-in-cell simulations. When the ratio of the laser power and a critical power of relativistic self-focusing is the optimal value, it propagates stably and electrons have maximum energies.
The magnetic field generation by a relativistic laser light irradiated on a thin target at the oblique incidence is investigated using a two dimensional particle-in-cell simulation. The surface magnetic field inhibits the electron transport towards the inside plasma, when an incident angle exceeds the critical angle, which depends on the laser and plasma parameters.
Hot electron temperatures and electron energy spectra in the course of interaction between intense laser pulse and overdense plasmas are reexamined from a viewpoint of the difference in laser wavelength. The hot electron temperature measured by a particle-in-cell simulation is scaled by $I$ rather than $I λ^2$ at the interaction with overdense plasmas with fixed ions, where $I$ and $λ$ are the laser intensity and wavelength, respectively.
