Images of elliptic operators on Hilbert bundles on compact manifolds are closed

We prove that the image of an elliptic operator on a smooth separable Hilbert fibre bundle on compact manifolds is closed with respect to the natural pre-Hilbert topology. We consider a tensor product of the operator, which is invariant with respect to an action of the C*-algebra of compact operators, and compare the image of this tensor product with the image of the original operator. This establishes a ground for the Hodge theory for these structures.

Hodge theory for elliptic complexes over unital $C^*$-algebras

We introduce a notion of ellipticity of complexes of linear pseudodifferential operators acting on sections of $A$-Hilbert bundles over smooth manifolds, $A$ being a $C^*$-algebra. We prove that the cohomology groups of an $A$-elliptic pseudodifferential complex in finitely generated projective $A$-Hilbert bundles over a compact manifold are norm complete finitely generated $A$-modules if the images of the associated Laplacians are closed. This establishes a Hodge theory for these structures.

Separation and symmetry on two dimensional manifolds

We introduce notions of a separated solution and of a simple symmetry that generates a differential operator on a smooth manifold. We prove that a differential operator on a two dimensional manifold has a separated solution if it has a homogeneous simple symmetry of degree one which does not generate the operator.

Induced $C^*$-complexes in metaplectic geometry

For a symplectic manifold admitting a metaplectic structure and for a Kuiper map, we construct a complex of differential operators acting on exterior differential forms with values in the dual of the Kostant's symplectic spinor bundle. Defining a Hilbert $C^*$-structure on this bundle for a suitable $C^*$-algebra, we obtain an elliptic $C^*$-complex in the sense of Mishchenko--Fomenko. Its cohomology groups appear to be finitely generated projective Hilbert $C^*$-modules. The paper can serve as a guide for handling of differential complexes and PDEs on Hilbert bundles

Symplectic spinors and Hodge theory

Results on symplectic spinors and their higher spin versions, concerning representation theory and cohomology properties are presented. Exterior forms with values in the symplectic spinors are decomposed into irreducible modules including finding the hidden symmetry (Schur--Weyl--Howe type duality) given by a representation of the Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{osp}(1|2)$ in this case. We also determine ranges of the induced exterior symplectic spinor derivatives when they are restricted to bundles induced by the irreducible submodules mentioned. This duality is used to decompose curvature tensors of covariant derivatives induced by a Fedosov connection to a symplectic spinor bundle, for characterizing a subcomplex of the de Rham complex twisted by the spinors and for proving that the complex is of elliptic type. Part of the dual is used to characterize Fedosov manifolds admitting symplectic Killing spinors and for relating the spectra of the symplectic Rarita--Schwinger and the symplectic Dirac operator of Habermann. Further, we use the Fomenko--Mishchenko generalization of the Atiyah--Singer index theorem to prove a kind of Hodge theory is valid for elliptic complexes with differentials on projective and finitely generated bundles over the algebra of compact operators and certain further ones.

Elliptic complexes over $C^*$-algebras of compact operators

For a $C^*$-algebra $A$ of compact operators and a compact manifold $M,$ we prove that the Hodge theory holds for $A$-elliptic complexes of pseudodifferential operators acting on smooth sections of finitely generated projective $A$-Hilbert bundles over $M.$ For these $C^*$-algebras, we get also a topological isomorphism between the cohomology groups of an $A$-elliptic complex and the space of harmonic elements. Consequently, the cohomology groups appear to be Banach spaces. We prove as well, that if the Hodge theory holds for a complex in the category of Hilbert $A$-modules and continuous adjointable Hilbert $A$-module homomorphisms, the complex is self-adjoint parametrix possessing.

Hodge decomposition for elliptic complexes over unital $C^*$-algebras

For a certain class of complexes of pre-Hilbert $A$-modules, we prove that their cohomology groups equipped with a canonical quotient structure are again pre-Hilbert $A$-modules and derive the Hodge decomposition for them. We call these complexes self-adjoint parametrix possessing. We show that $A$-elliptic complexes of differential operator acting on sections of finitely generated projective $A$-Hilbert bundles over compact manifolds have this property if the images of certain extensions of their Laplacians are closed.

Cohomology of the de Rham complex twisted by the oscillatory representation

We introduce a Hilbert $A$-module structure on the higher oscillatory module, where $A$ denotes the $C^*$-algebra of bounded endomorphisms of the basic oscillatory module. We also define the notion of an exterior covariant derivative in an $A$-Hilbert bundle and use it for a construction of an $A$-elliptic complex of differential operators for certain symplectic manifolds equipped with a symplectic connection.

Symplectic spinor valued forms and invariant operators acting between them

Exterior differential forms with values in the (Kostant's) symplectic spinor bundle on a manifold with a given metaplectic structure are decomposed into invariant subspaces. Projections to these invariant subspaces of a covariant derivative associated to a torsion-free symplectic connection are described.

Howe type duality for the metaplectic group acting on symplectic spinor valued forms

Let $\mathbb{S}$ denote the oscillatory module over the complex symplectic Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}= \mathfrak{sp}(\mathbb{V}^{\mathbb{C}},ω).$ Consider the $\mathfrak{g}$-module $\mathbb{W}=\bigwedge^{\bullet}(\mathbb{V}^*)^{\mathbb{C}}\otimes \mathbb{S}$ of exterior forms with values in the oscillatory module. We prove that the associative algebra $\hbox{End}_{\mathfrak{g}}(\mathbb{W})$ is generated by the image of a certain representation of the ortho-symplectic Lie super algebra $\mathfrak{osp}(1|2)$ and two distinguished projection operators. The space $\bigwedge^{\bullet}(\mathbb{V}^*)^{\mathbb{C}}\otimes \mathbb{S}$ is decomposed with respect to the joint action of $\mathfrak{g}$ and $\mathfrak{osp}(1|2).$ This establishes a Howe type duality for $\mathfrak{sp}(\mathbb{V}^{\mathbb{C}},ω)$ acting on $\mathbb{W}.$

On the ellipticity of symplectic twistor complexes

For a Fedosov manifold (symplectic manifold equipped with a symplectic torsion-free affine connection $\nabla$) admitting a metaplectic structure, we shall investigate two sequences of first order differential operators acting on sections of certain bundles over this manifold. The operators are symplectic analogues of the twistor operators known from Riemannian spin geometry. Therefore we call the mentioned sequences symplectic twistor sequences. These sequences are complexes if the connection $\nabla$ is of Ricci type. We shall prove that the so called truncated parts of these complexes are elliptic. This establishes a background for a future analytic study.

Symplectic Killing spinors

Let $(M,ω)$ be a symplectic manifold admitting a metaplectic structure (a symplectic analogue of the Riemannian spin structure) and a torsion-free symplectic connection $\nabla.$ Symplectic Killing spinor fields for this structure are sections of the symplectic spinor bundle satisfying a certain first order partial differential equation and they are the main topic of this paper. We derive a necessary condition satisfied by a symplectic Killing spinor field. The advantage of this condition consists in the fact that it is expressed by a zeroth order operator. This condition helps us substantionally to compute the symplectic Killing spinor fields for the standard symplectic vector spaces and the round sphere $S^2$ equipped with the volume form of the round metric.

Structure of the curvature tensor on symplectic spinors

We study symplectic manifolds $(M^{2l},ω)$ equipped with a symplectic torsion-free affine (also called Fedosov) connection $\nabla$ and admitting a metaplectic structure. Let $\mathcal{S}$ be the so called symplectic spinor bundle and let $R^S$ be the curvature tensor field of the symplectic spinor covariant derivative $\nabla^S$ associated to the Fedosov connection $\nabla.$ It is known that the space of symplectic spinor valued exterior differential 2-forms, $Γ(M,\bigwedge^2T^*M\otimes {\mathcal{S}}),$ decomposes into three invariant spaces with respect to the structure group, which is the metaplectic group $Mp(2l,\mathbb{R})$ in this case. For a symplectic spinor field $ϕ\in Γ(M,\mathcal{S}),$ we compute explicitly the projections of $R^Sϕ\in Γ(M,\bigwedge^2T^*M \otimes \mathcal{S})$ onto the three mentioned invariant spaces in terms of the symplectic Ricci and symplectic Weyl curvature tensor fields of the connection $\nabla.$ Using this decomposition, we derive a complex of first order differential operators provided the Weyl tensor of the Fedosov connection is trivial.

Howe type duality for metaplectic group acting on symplectic spinor valued forms

Let $λ: \tilde{G}\to G$ be the non-trivial double covering of the symplectic group $G=Sp(V,ω)$ of the symplectic vector space $(V,ω)$ by the metaplectic group $\tilde{G}=Mp(V,ω).$ In this case, $λ$ is also a representation of $\tilde{G}$ on the vector space $V$ and thus, it gives rise to the representation of $\tilde{G}$ on the space of exterior forms $\bigwedge^{\bullet}V^*$ by taking wedge products. Let $S$ be the minimal globalization of the Harish-Chandra module of the complex Segal-Shale-Weil representation of the metaplectic group $\tilde{G}.$ We prove that the associative commutant algebra $\hbox{End}_{\tilde{G}}(\bigwedge^{\bullet}V^*\otimes S)$ of the metaplectic group $\tilde{G}$ acting on the $S$-valued exterior forms is generated by certain representation of the super ortho-symplectic Lie algebra $osp(1|2)$ and two distinguished operators. This establishes a Howe type duality between the metaplectic group and the super Lie algebra $\mathfrak{osp}(1|2).$ Also the space $\bigwedge^{\bullet}V^*\otimes S$ is decomposed wr. to the joint action of $Mp(V,ω)$ and $osp(1|2).$

Classification of 1st order symplectic spinor operators over contact projective geometries

We give a classification of $1^{st}$ order invariant differential operators acting between sections of certain bundles associated to Cartan geometries of the so called metaplectic contact projective type. These bundles are associated via representations, which are derived from the so called higher symplectic, harmonic or generalized Kostant spinor modules. Higher symplectic spinor modules are arising from the Segal-Shale-Weil representation of the metaplectic group by tensoring it by finite dimensional modules. We show that for all pairs of the considered bundles, there is at most one $1^{st}$ order invariant differential operator up to a complex multiple and give an equivalence condition for the existence of such an operator. Contact projective analogues of the well known Dirac, twistor and Rarita-Schwinger operators appearing in Riemannian geometry are special examples of these operators.
