On the Lipschitz continuity of certain quasiregular mappings between smooth Jordan domains

We first investigate the Lipschitz continuity of $(K, K')$-quasiregular $C^2$ mappings between two Jordan domains with smooth boundaries, satisfying certain partial differential inequalities concerning Laplacian. Then two applications of the obtained result are given: As a direct consequence, we get the Lipschitz continuity of $ρ$-harmonic $(K, K')$-quasiregular mappings, and as the other application, we study the Lipschitz continuity of $(K,K')$-quasiconformal self-mappings of the unit disk, which are the solutions of the Poisson equation $Δw=g$. These results generalize and extend several recently obtained results by Kalaj, Mateljević and Pavlović.

Geometric properties of the Cassinian metric

In this paper we prove a sharp distortion property of the Cassinian metric under Möbius transformations of a punctured ball onto another punctured ball. The paper also deals with discussion on local convexity properties of the Cassinian metric balls in some specific subdomains of $\mathbb{R}^n$. Inclusion properties of the Cassinian metric balls with other hyperbolic-type metric balls are also investigated. In particular, several conjectures are also stated in response to sharpness of the inclusion relations.

Geometry of the Cassinian metric and its inner metric

The Cassinian metric and its inner metric have been studied for subdomains of the $n$-dimensional Euclidean space $\mathbb{R}^n$ ($n\ge 2$) by the first named author. In this paper we obtain various inequalities between the Cassinian metric and other related metrics in some specific subdomains of $\mathbb{R}^n$. Also, a sharp distortion property of the Cassinian metric under Möbius transformations of the unit ball is obtained.

Estimates for the hyperbolic and quasihyperbolic metrics in hyperbolic regions

In this paper we consider ordinary derivative of universal covering mappings $f$ of hyperbolic regions $D$ in the complex plane. We obtain sharp bounds for the ratio $|f'(z)|/{\rm dist}(f(z),\partial f(D))$ in terms of the hyperbolic density in simply connection domains. In arbitrary domains, we find a necessary and sufficient condition for an upper bound for the quantity $|f'(z)|/{\rm dist}(f(z),\partial f(D))$ to hold in terms of the hyperbolic density. As an application of the above results, it is observed that the bounds for the quantity of the above type are closely connected with similar bounds for $|f''(z)/f'(z)|$.

Maximal area integral problem for certain class of univalent analytic functions

One of the classical problems concerns the class of analytic functions $f$ on the open unit disk $|z|<1$ which have finite Dirichlet integral $Δ(1,f)$, where $$Δ(r,f)=\iint_{|z|<r}|f'(z)|^2 \, dxdy \quad (0<r\leq 1). $$ The class ${\mathcal S}^*(A,B)$ of normalized functions $f$ analytic in $|z|<1$ and satisfies the subordination condition $zf'(z)/f(z)\prec (1+Az)/(1+Bz)$ in $|z|<1$ and for some $-1\leq B\leq 0$, $A\in {\mathbb C}$ with $A\neq B$, has been studied extensively. In this paper, we solve the extremal problem of determining the value of $$\max_{f\in {\mathcal S}^*(A,B)}Δ(r,z/f)$$ as a function of $r$. This settles the question raised by Ponnusamy and Wirths in [11]. One of the particular cases includes solution to a conjecture of Yamashita which was settled recently by Obradović et. al [9].

Inequalities and geometry of hyperbolic-type metrics, radius problems and norm estimates

We consider certain inequalities among the Apollonian metric, the Apollonian inner metric, the $j$ metric and the quasihyperbolic metric. We verify that whether these inequalities can occur in simply connected planar domains and in proper subdomains of $\mathbb{R}^n~(n\ge 2)$. We have seen from our verification that most of the cases cannot occur. This means that there are many restrictions on domains in which these inequalities can occur. We also consider two metrics $j$ and $d$, and investigate whether a plane domain $D\varsubsetneq\mathbb{C}$, for which there exists a constant $c>0$ with $j(z,w) \le c\, d(z,w)$ for all $z,w \in D$, is a uniform domain. In particular, we study the case when $d$ is the $λ$-Apollonian metric. We also investigate the question, whether simply connected quasi-isotropic domains are John disks and conversely. Isometries of the quasihyperbolic metric, the Ferrand metric and the K--P metric are also obtained in several specific domains in the complex plane. In addition to the above, some problems on univalent functions theory are also solved. We denote by $\mathcal{S}$, the class of normalized univalent analytic functions defined in the unit disk. We consider some geometrically motivated subclasses, say $\mathcal{F}$, of $\mathcal{S}$. We obtain the largest disk $|z|<r$ for which $\frac{1}{r}f(rz)\in \mathcal{F}$ whenever $f\in \mathcal{S}$. We also obtain necessary and sufficient coefficient conditions for $f$ to be in $\mathcal{F}$. Finally, we present the pre-Schwarzian norm estimates of functions from $\mathcal{F}$ and that of certain convolution or integral transforms of functions from $\mathcal{F}$.
