Production of Singlet dominated scalar(s) at the LHC

The leading order production of an SM singlet-like scalar has primarily been realized through the gluon fusion process by mixing with the $SU(2)_L$ scalar doublet of the model. The dominant part of the physical state, i.e., the singlet component, does not have any role in its direct production. Focusing on such a state with a mass smaller than the SM-like Higgs scalar, we calculate the dominant next-to-leading (NLO) order corrections to its production cross-section. With these improved cross-sections, the present and future LHC limits may become somewhat more stringent.

Production of Heavy neutrino in next-to-leading order QCD at the LHC and beyond

Majorana and pseudo-Dirac heavy neutrinos are introduced into the type-I and inverse seesaw models, respectively, in explaining the naturally small neutrino mass. TeV scale heavy neutrinos can also be accommodated to have a sizable mixing with the Standard Model light neutrinos, through which they can be produced and detected at the high energy colliders. In this paper we consider the Next-to-Leading Order QCD corrections to the heavy neutrino production, and study the scale variation in cross-sections as well as the kinematic distributions with different final states at $14$ TeV LHC and also in the context of $100$ TeV hadron collider. The repertoire of the Majorana neutrino is realized through the characteristic signature of the same-sign dilepton pair, whereas, due to a small lepton number violation, the pseudo-Dirac heavy neutrino can manifest the trileptons associated with missing energy in the final state. Using the $\sqrt{s}=8$ TeV, $20.3$ fb$^{-1}$ and $19.7$ fb$^{-1}$ data at the ATLAS and CMS respectively, we obtain prospective scale dependent upper bounds of the light-heavy neutrino mixing angles for the Majorana heavy neutrinos at the $14$ TeV LHC and $100$ TeV collider. Further exploiting a recent study on the anomalous multilepton search by CMS at $\sqrt{s}=8$ TeV with $19.5$ fb$^{-1}$ data, we also obtain the prospective scale dependent upper bounds on the mixing angles for the pseudo-Dirac neutrinos. We thus project a scale dependent prospective reach using the NLO processes at the $14$ TeV LHC.

NLO QCD corrections to the resonant Vector Diquark production at the LHC

With the upcoming run of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at much higher center of mass energies, the search for Beyond Standard Model (BSM) physics will again take center stage. New colored particles predicted in many BSM scenarios are expected to be produced with large cross sections thus making them interesting prospects as a doorway to hints of new physics. We consider the resonant production of such a colored particle, the diquark, a particle having the quantum number of two quarks. The diquark can be either a scalar or vector. We focus on the vector diquark which has much larger production cross section compared to the scalar ones. In this work we calculate the next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD corrections to the on-shell vector diquark production at the LHC produced through the fusion of two quarks as well as the NLO corrections to its decay width. We present full analytic results for the one-loop NLO calculation and do a numerical study to show that the NLO corrections can reduce the scale uncertainties in the cross sections which can be appreciable and therefore modify the expected search limits for such particles. We also use the dijet result from LHC to obtain current limits on the mass and coupling strengths of the vector diquarks.

NLO QCD corrections to excited lepton production at the LHC

We revisited excited leptons ($\bar{l^*}l$) production through gauge mediation only at LHC, followed by their two body decays into Standard Model (SM) particles. We include the next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD corrections to these processes. We have shown that these corrections can be substantial and significant. We also show that the scale dependence of the NLO cross section is greatly reduced as compare to leading order (LO) cross section.

QCD corrections to excited lepton (pair) production at LHC

We consider excited lepton ($\bar{l^*}l {\rm or} \bar{l^*}l^*$) production in the context of effective theories with being four-fermion contact interaction at LHC. We also consider the two body decay mode of excited lepton ($l^*$) to standard model fermion($l$) and a gauge boson $V(\equiv γ,Z,W)$. We have performed next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD corrections to this process. In spite of non-renormalizable nature of the interaction, the higher order QCD corrections are possible and meaningful. We have shown that these corrections can be substantial and significant. By considering the issue of scale dependence, it is shown that the scale dependence of the NLO cross sections are greatly reduced as compare to leading order (LO) cross section.

NNLO QCD corrections to the resonant sneutrino/slepton production at Hadron Colliders

We present a complete next to next to leading order QCD corrections to the resonant sneutrino and charged slepton production cross sections at hadronic colliders such as the Tevatron and the Large Hadron Collider within the context of $R$-parity violating supersymmetric model. We have demonstrated the role of these corrections in reducing uncertainties resulting from renormalisation and factorisation scales and thereby making our predictions reliable. We have incorporated soft gluon effects at $N^3LO$ level in order to study the stability of our results under perturbation. The NNLO corrections are found to be large and significant. The results obtained in this article are also applicable to resonance production of any color-neutral scalar.

W-pair production in Unparticle Physics

We consider the $W$-pair production for both $e^+e^-$ and hadron colliders in the context of unparticle physics associated with the scale invariant sector proposed by Georgi. We have shown that the unparticle contributions are quite comparable with standard model (SM) specially for low values of non-integral scaling dimension $ (d_{\cal U}) $ and hence it is worthwhile to explore in future colliders.

Dijet production in generic contact interaction at linear colliders

We consider dijet production at a $e^+ e^-$ collider in a class of effective theories with the relevant operators being four-fermion contact interaction. Despite the nonrenormalizable nature of the interaction, we explicitly demonstrate that calculating QCD corrections is both possible and meaningful. Calculating the corrections for various differential distributions, we show that these can be substantial and significantly different from those within the SM. Furthermore, the corrections have a very distinctive flavor dependence.

NLO Corrections to lepton pair production beyond the Standard Model at hadron colliders

We consider lepton pair production at a hadron collider in a class of effective theories with the relevant operators being four-fermion contact interaction. Despite the nonrenormalizable nature of the interaction, we explicitly demonstrate that calculating QCD corrections is both possible and meaningful. Calculating the corrections for various differential distributions, we show that these can be substantial and significantly different from those within the SM. Furthermore, the corrections have a very distinctive flavour dependence. And finally, the scale dependence of the cross sections are greatly reduced once the NLO corrections are taken into account.

NLO corrections to ultra-high energy neutrino-nucleon scattering, shadowing and small x

We reconsider the Standard Model interactions of ultra-high energy neutrinos with matter. The next to leading order QCD corrections are presented for charged-current and neutral-current processes. Contrary to popular expectations, these corrections are found to be quite substantial, especially for very large (anti-) neutrino energies. Hence, they need to be taken into account in any search for new physics effects in high-energy neutrino interactions. In our extrapolation of the parton densities to kinematical regions as yet unexplored directly in terrestrial accelerators, we are guided by double asymptotic scaling in the large Q^2 and small Bjorken x region and to models of saturation in the low Q^2 and low x regime. The sizes of the consequent uncertainties are commented upon. We also briefly discuss some variables which are insensitive to higher order QCD corrections and are hence suitable in any search for new physics.

QCD Corrections to Resonant Slepton Production in Hadron Colliders

We consider resonant production of sneutrino and slepton at hadronic colliders such as the Tevatron and the LHC within the context of a R-parity violating supersymmetric model. We present next to leading order QCD corrections to total cross sections which originate from both quark- as well as gluon-initiated processes. For couplings involving only the first generation quarks, the K factor at the Tevatron can be as large as 1.5 for a 100 GeV sfermion and falls to nearly 1.1 as the sfermion mass reaches 1 TeV. At the LHC, the variation is between 1.2 and 1.45 for masses less than 2 TeV. While the dependence on the parton density parametrization is found to be mild, this ceases to be true if the strange quark plays a dominant role in the production process. We also study the renormalization and factorization-scale dependence and find it to be less pronounced for the NLO cros sections as compared to the LO. The results obtained in this article are also applicable to resonant production of any color-neutral scalar.
