PBW bases and KLR algebras

We generalize Lusztig's geometric construction of the PBW bases of finite quantum groups of type $\mathsf{ADE}$ under the framework of [Varagnolo-Vasserot, J. reine angew. Math. 659 (2011)]. In particular, every PBW basis of such quantum groups is proven to yield a semi-orthogonal collection in the module category of the KLR-algebras. This enables us to prove Lusztig's conjecture on the positivity of the canonical (lower global) bases in terms of the (lower) PBW bases in the $\mathsf{ADE}$ case. In addition, we verify Kashiwara's problem on the finiteness of the global dimensions of the KLR-algebras of type $\mathsf{ADE}$.

On characters and formal degrees of discrete series of affine Hecke algebras of classical types

We address two fundamental questions in the representation theory of affine Hecke algebras of classical types. One is an inductive algorithm to compute characters of tempered modules, and the other is the determination of the constants in the formal degrees of discrete series (in the form conjectured by Reeder \cite{Re}). The former is completely different than the Lusztig-Shoji algorithm \cite{Sh, L}, and it is more effective in a number of cases. The main idea in our proof is to introduce a new family of representations which behave like tempered modules, but for which it is easier to analyze the effect of parameter specializations. Our proof also requires a comparison of the $C^{\ast}$-theoretic results of Opdam, Delorme, Slooten, Solleveld \cite{O, DO, Sl2, OSa, OS}, and the geometric construction from \cite{K1,K2,CK}.

An algebraic study of extension algebras

We present simple conditions which guarantee a geometric convolution algebra to behave like a variant of the quasi-hereditary algebra. In particular, standard modules of the affine Hecke algebras of type $\mathsf{BC}$, and the quiver Schur algebras are shown to satisfy the Brauer-Humphreys type reciprocity and the semi-orthogonality property. In addition, we present a new criterion of purity of weights in the geometric side. This yields a proof of Shoji's conjecture on limit symbols of type $\mathsf{B}$ [Shoji, Adv. Stud. Pure Math. 40 (2004)], and the purity of the exotic Springer fibers [K, Duke Math. 148 (2009)]. Using this, we describe the leading terms of the $C^{\infty}$-realization of a solution of the Lieb-McGuire system in the appendix. In [K, arXiv:1203.5254], we apply the results of this paper to the KLR algebras of type $\mathsf{ADE}$ to establish Kashwara's problem and Lusztig's conjecture.

A homological study of Green polynomials

We interpret the orthogonality relation of Kostka polynomials arising from complex reflection groups (c.f. [Shoji, Invent. Math. 74 (1983), J. Algebra 245 (2001)] and [Lusztig, Adv. Math. 61 (1986)]) in terms of homological algebra. This leads us to the notion of Kostka system, which can be seen as a categorical counter-part of Kostka polynomials. Then, we show that every generalized Springer correspondence [Lusztig, Invent. Math. 75 (1984)] (in good characteristic) gives rise to a Kostka system. This enables us to see the top-term generation property of the (twisted) homology of generalized Springer fibers, and the transition formula of Kostka polynomials between two generalized Springer correspondences of type $\mathsf{BC}$. The latter provides an inductive algorithm to compute Kostka polynomials by upgrading [Ciubotaru-Kato-K, Invent. Math. 178 (2012)] §3 to its graded version. In the appendices, we present purely algebraic proofs that Kostka systems exist for type $\mathsf{A}$ and asymptotic type $\mathsf{BC}$ cases, and therefore one can skip geometric sections §3--5 to see the key ideas and basic examples/techniques.

On the homology of exotic Springer fibers

The author decided to withdraw this paper by 1) an error in Lemma 5.11 (and 5.12) which requires some justification; 2) the main result of this paper suffers overlap with arXiv:1203.5254; 3) the author decided to split arXiv:1203.5254 into two pieces, and the main application of this paper is transferred to one of them (in order to keep strength of the applications presented in each paper); and 4) thus a "newer version" of this paper would have different story and substantially different contents, which he feels a different paper.

Tensor products and Minkowski sums of Mirkovic-Vilonen polytopes

The purpose of this paper is to prove that the Mirkovic-Vilonen (MV for short) polytope corresponding to the tensor product of two arbitrary MV polytopes is contained in the Minkowski sum of these two MV polytopes. This generalizes the result in our previous paper [KNS], which was obtained under the assumption that the first tensor factor is an extremal MV polytope.

Tempered modules in exotic Deligne-Langlands correspondence

The main purpose of this paper is to identify the tempered modules for the affine Hecke algebra of type $C_n^{(1)}$ with arbitrary, non-root of unity, unequal parameters, in the exotic Deligne-Langlands correspondence in the sense of Kato. Our classification has several applications to the Weyl group module structure of the tempered Hecke algebra modules. In particular, we provide a geometric and a combinatorial classification of discrete series which contain the sign representation of the Weyl group. This last combinatorial classification was expected from the work of Heckman-Opdam and Slooten.

Deformations of nilpotent cones and Springer correspondences

Let G = Sp (2n) be the symplectic group over Z. We present a certain kind of deformation of the nilpotent cone of G with G-action. This enables us to make direct links between the Springer correspondence of sp_{2n} over C, that over characteristic two, and our exotic Springer correspondence. As a by-product, we obtain a complete description of our exotic Springer correspondence.

Polytopal Estimate of Mirkovic-Vilonen polytopes lying in a Demazure crystal

In this paper, we give a polytopal estimate of Mirković-Vilonen polytopes lying in a Demazure crystal in terms of Minkowski sums of extremal Mirković-Vilonen polytopes. As an immediate consequence of this result, we provide a necessary (but not sufficient) polytopal condition for a Mirković-Vilonen polytope to lie in a Demazure crystal.

An exotic Deligne-Langlands correspondence for symplectic groups

Let G be a complex symplectic group. We introduce a G x (C ^x) ^{l + 1}-variety N_{l}, which we call the l-exotic nilpotent cone. Then, we realize the Hecke algebra H of type C_n ^(1) with three parameters via equivariant algebraic K-theory in terms of the geometry of N_2. This enables us to establish a Deligne-Langlands type classification of "non-critical" simple H-modules. As applications, we present a character formula and multiplicity formulas of H-modules.

An exotic Springer correspondence for symplectic groups

This paper is a sequel to math.RT/0601155. Let G be a complex symplectic group. In math.RT/0601155, we constructed a certain G-variety N = N_1, which we call the (1-) exotic nilpotent cone. In this paper, we study the set of G-orbits of the variety N. It turns out that the variety N gives a variant of the Springer correspondence for the Weyl group of type C, but shares a similar flavor with that of type A case. (I.e. there appears no non-trivial local system and the correspondence is bijective.) As an application, we present one sufficient condition for the bijectivity of our exotic Deligne-Langlands correspondence [K1].

On the combinatorics of unramified admissible modules

We construct a certain topological algebra $\Ext ^{\sharp}_{G ^{\vee}} X (χ)$ from a Deligne-Langlands parameter space $X (χ)$ attached to the group of rational points of a connected split reductive algebraic group $G$ over a non-Archimedean local field $\mathbb K$. Then we prove the equivalence between the category of continuous modules of $\Ext ^{\sharp}_{G ^{\vee}} X (χ)$ and the category of unramified admissible modules of $G (\mathbb K)$ with a generalized infinitesimal character corresponding to $χ$. This is an analogue of Soergel's conjecture which concerns the real reductive setting.

Equivariant vector bundles on group completions

In this paper, we describe the category of bi-equivariant vector bundles on a bi-equivariant smooth (partial) compactification of a reductive algebraic group with normal crossing boundary divisors. Our result is a generalization of the description of the category of equivariant vector bundles on toric varieties established by A.A. Klyachko [Math. USSR. Izvestiya, {\bf 35}, No.2 (1990)]. As an application, we prove splitting of equivariant vector bundles of low rank on the wonderful compactification of an adjoint semisimple group in the sense of C. De Concini and C. Procesi [Lecture Note in Math. {\bf 996} (1983)]. Moreover, we present an answer to a problem raised by B. Kostant in the case of complex groups.
