Composite operators of stochastic model A

By means of the field-theoretic renormalization group, we study the damping of the viscosity coefficient near the superfluid phase transition. We utilize the fact that in the infrared region, the complex model used to describe the phase transition belongs to the same universality class as the well-known stochastic model A. This allows us a determination of the critical behavior of viscosity using composite operators for model A. Our analysis is based on the $\varepsilon$-expansion near the upper critical dimension $d_c = 4$ of model A. The critical exponent of viscosity is then calculated from the critical dimensions of composite operators of massless two-component model A. In particular, we present results for critical dimensions of a selected class of composite operators with the canonical dimension $8$ to the leading order.

Magnetism of the diluted Ising antiferromagnet in a magnetic field on the Kagome lattice: single-spin cluster approximation

An effective-field theory based on the single-spin cluster has been used to study of a diluted spin-$1/2$ Ising antiferromagnet on the Kagome lattice with nearest-neighbor interactions. We observe five plateaus in the magnetization curve of the diluted antiferromagnet when a magnetic field is applied which is in agreement with Monte Carlo calculation. The effect of the site-dilution on the magnetic susceptibility is also investigated and discussed. In particular, we have found that the frustrated Kagome lattice inverse susceptibility fall to zero at $0$K.

Passive advection of percolation process: Two-loop approximation

The paradigmatic model of the directed percolation process is studied near its second order phase transition between an absorbing and an active state. The model is first expressed in a form of Langevin equation and later rewritten into a field-theoretic formulation. The ensuing response functional is then analyzed employing Feynman diagrammatic technique and perturbative renormalization group method. Percolation process is assumed to occur in external velocity field, which has an additional effect on spreading properties. Kraichnan rapid change ensemble is used for generation of velocity fluctuations. The structure of the fixed points structure is obtained within the two-loop approximation.

Advection by Compressible Turbulent Flows: Renormalization Group Study of Vector and Tracer Admixture

Advection-diffusion problems of magnetic field and tracer field are analyzed using the field theoretic perturbative renormalization group. Both advected fields are considered to be passive, i.e., without any influence on the turbulent environment, and advecting velocity field is generated by compressible version of stochastic Navier-Stokes equation. The model is considered in the vicinity of space dimension $d=4$ and is a continuation of previous work [N.V. Antonov et al., Phys. Rev. E 95, 033120 (2017)]. The perturbation theory near the special dimension $d=4$ is constructed within a double expansion scheme in $y$ (which describes scaling behavior of the random force that enters a stochastic equation for the velocity field) and $ε=4-d$. We show that up to one-loop approximation both types of advected fields exhibit similar universal scaling behavior. In particular, we demonstrate this statement on the inertial range asymptotic behavior of the correlation functions of advected fields. The critical dimensions of tensor composite operators are calculated in the leading order of $(y,ε)$ expansion.

Stochastic Navier-Stokes equation for a compressible fluid: two-loop approximation

A model of fully developed turbulence of a compressible fluid is briefly reviewed. It is assumed that fluid dynamics is governed by a stochastic version of Navier-Stokes equation. We show how corresponding field theoretic-model can be obtained and further analyzed by means of the perturbative renormalization group. Two fixed points of the RG equations are found. The perturbation theory is constructed within formal expansion scheme in parameter $y$, which describes scaling behavior of random force fluctuations. Actual calculations for fixed points' coordinates are performed to two-loop order.

Scaling behavior in interacting systems: joint effect of anisotropy and compressibility

Motivated by the ubiquity of turbulent flows in realistic conditions, effects of turbulent advection on two models of classical non-linear systems are investigated. In particular, we analyze model A (according to the Hohenberg-Halperin classification [1]) of a non-conserved order parameter and a model of the direct bond percolation process. Having two paradigmatic representatives of distinct stochastic dynamics, our aim is to elucidate to what extent velocity fluctuations affect their scaling behavior. The main emphasis is put on an interplay between anisotropy and compressibility of the velocity flow on their respective scaling regimes. Velocity fluctuations are generated by means of the Kraichnan rapid-change model, in which the anisotropy is due to a distinguished spatial direction n and a correlator of the velocity field obeys the Gaussian distribution law with prescribed statistical properties. As the main theoretical tool, the field-theoretic perturbative renormalization group is adopted. Actual calculations are performed in the leading (one-loop) approximation. Having obtained infra-red stable asymptotic regimes, we have found four possible candidates for macroscopically observable behavior for each model. In contrast to the isotropic case, anisotropy brings about enhancement of non-linearities and non-trivial regimes are proved to be more stable.

Influence of turbulent mixing on critical behavior of directed percolation process : effect of compressibility

Universal behavior is a typical emergent feature of critical systems. A paramount model of the non-equilibrium critical behavior is the directed bond percolation process that exhibits an active- to-absorbing state phase transition in the vicinity of a percolation threshold. Fluctuations of the ambient environment might affect or destroy the universality properties completely. In this work we assume that the random environment can be described by means of compressible velocity fluctu- ations. Using field-theoretic models and renormalization group methods we investigate large-scale and long-time behavior. Altogether eleven universality classes are found, out of which four are stable in the infrared limit and thus macroscopically accessible. In contrast to the model without veloc- ity fluctuations a possible candidate for a realistic three-dimensional case, a regime with relevant short-range noise, is identified. Depending on the dimensionality of space and the structure of the turbulent flow we calculate critical exponents of the directed percolation process. In the limit of the purely transversal velocity field random force critical exponents comply with the incompressible results obtained by previous authors. We have found intriguing non-universal behavior related to the mutual effect of compressibility and advection.

Stochastic Navier-Stokes equation and advection of a tracer field: One-loop renormalization near $d=4$

The renormalization group approach and the operator product expansion technique are applied to the model of a tracer field advected by the Navier-Stokes velocity ensemble for a compressible fluid. The model is considered in the vicinity of the specific space dimension $d=4$. The properties of the equal-time structure functions are investigated. The multifractal behaviour of various correlation functions is established. All calculations are performed in the leading one-loop approximation.

Turbulent compressible fluid: renormalization group analysis, scaling regimes, and anomalous scaling of advected scalar fields

We study a model of fully developed turbulence of a compressible fluid, based on the stochastic Navier-Stokes equation, by means of the field theoretic renormalization group. In this approach, scaling properties are related to the fixed points of the renormalization group equations. Previous analysis of this model near the real-world space dimension 3 identified some scaling regime [Theor. Math. Phys., 110, 3 (1997)]. The aim of the present paper is to explore the existence of additional regimes, that could not be found using the direct perturbative approach of the previous work, and to analyze the crossover between different regimes. It seems possible to determine them near the special value of space dimension $4$ in the framework of double $y$ and $\varepsilon$ expansion, where $y$ is the exponent associated with the random force and $\varepsilon=4-d$ is the deviation from the space dimension $4$. Our calculations show that there exists an additional fixed point that governs scaling behavior. Turbulent advection of a passive scalar (density) field by this velocity ensemble is considered as well. We demonstrate that various correlation functions of the scalar field exhibit anomalous scaling behavior in the inertial-convective range. The corresponding anomalous exponents, identified as scaling dimensions of certain composite fields, can be systematically calculated as a series in $y$ and $\varepsilon$. All calculations are performed in the leading one-loop approximation.

Advection of a passive scalar field by turbulent compressible fluid: renormalization group analysis near $d = 4$

The field theoretic renormalization group (RG) and the operator product expansion (OPE) are applied to the model of a density field advected by a random turbulent velocity field. The latter is governed by the stochastic Navier-Stokes equation for a compressible fluid. The model is considered near the special space dimension $d = 4$. It is shown that various correlation functions of the scalar field exhibit anomalous scaling behaviour in the inertial-convective range. The scaling properties in the RG+OPE approach are related to fixed points of the renormalization group equations. In comparison with physically interesting case $d = 3$, at $d = 4$ additional Green function has divergences which affect the existence and stability of fixed points. From calculations it follows that a new regime arises there and then by continuity moves into $d = 3$. The corresponding anomalous exponents are identified with scaling dimensions of certain composite fields and can be systematically calculated as series in $y$ (the exponent, connected with random force) and $ε=4-d$. All calculations are performed in the leading one-loop approximation.

Renormalization group analysis of a turbulent compressible fluid near $d = 4$ : Crossover between local and non-local scaling regimes

We study scaling properties of the model of fully developed turbulence for a compressible fluid, based on the stochastic Navier-Stokes equation, by means of the field theoretic renormalization group (RG). The scaling properties in this approach are related to fixed points of the RG equation. Here we study a possible existence of other scaling regimes and an opportunity of a crossover between them. This may take place in some other space dimensions, particularly at $d = 4$. A new regime may there arise and then by continuity moves into $d = 3$. Our calculations have shown that there really exists an additional fixed point, that may govern scaling behaviour.

Renormalization group calculation of dynamic exponent in the models E and F with hydrodynamic fluctuations

The renormalization group method is applied in order to analyze models E and F of critical dynamics in the presence of velocity fluctuations generated by the stochastic Navier-Stokes equation. Results are given to the one-loop approximation for the anomalous dimension $γ_λ$ and fixed-points' structure. The dynamic exponent $z$ is calculated in the turbulent regime and stability of the fixed points for the standard model E is discussed.

Theoretical Study of the Frustrated Ising Antiferromagnet on the Honeycomb Lattice

We study effects of the next-next-nearest-neighbour antiferromagnetic ($J_3 < 0$) interaction on critical properties (or phase diagram) of the frustrated spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ $J_1-J_2-J_3$ Ising antiferromagnet on the honeycomb lattice by using the effective-field theory with correlations. Beside the ground-state energy, we find that there is a region of $J_3 < 0$ in which the frustrated honeycomb lattice antiferromagnet exhibits a tricritical point, at which the phase transition changes from the second order to the first one on the line between Néel antiferromagnetic and paramagnetic phases.

Influence of Hydrodynamic Fluctuations on the Phase Transition in Models E and F of Critical Dynamics

We use the renormalization group method to study model E of critical dynamics in the presence of velocity fluctuations arising in accordance with the stochastic Navier-Stokes equation. Using Martin-Siggia-Rose theorem, we obtain a field- theoretical model that allows a perturbative renormalization group analysis. By direct power counting and an analysis of ultraviolet divergences, we show that the model is multiplicatively renormalizable, and we use a two-parameter expansion in $\varepsilon$ and $δ$ to calculate renormalization constants. Here, $\varepsilon$ is a deviation from the critical dimension four, and $δ$ is a deviation from the Kolmogorov regime. We present the results of the one-loop approximation and part of the fixed-point structure. We briefly discuss the possible effect of velocity fluctuations on the large-scale behavior of the model.

Tricritical behaviour of the frustrated Ising antiferromagnet on the honeycomb lattice

We use the effective-field theory with correlations based on different cluster sizes to investigate phase diagrams of the frustrated Ising antiferromagnet on the honeycomb lattice with isotropic interactions of the strength $J_1 < 0$ between nearest-neighbour pairs and $J_2 < 0$ between next-nearest neighbour pairs of spins. We present results for the ground-state energy as a function of the frustration parameter $R = J_2 /|J_1|$. We find that the cluster-size has a considerable effect on the existence and location of a tricritical point in the phase diagram at which the phase transition changes from the second order to the first one.

Gribov process advected by the synthetic compressible velocity ensemble: Renormalization Group Approach

The direct bond percolation process (Gribov process) is studied in the presence of irrotational velocity fluctuations with long-range correlations. The perturbative renormalization group is employed in order to analyze the effects of finite correlation time on the long-time behavior of the phase transition between an active and an ab- sorbing state. The calculation is performed to the one-loop order. Stable fixed points of the renormalization group and their regions of stability are obtained within the three-parameter $(ε,y,η)$- expansion. Different regimes corresponding to the rapid- change limit and frozen velocity field are discussed.

Numerical Solution of a Nonlinear Integro-Differential Equation

An algorithm for the numerical solution of a nonlinear integro-differential equation arising in the single-species annihilation reaction $A + A \rightarrow\varnothing$ modeling is discussed. Finite difference method together with the linear approximation of the unknown function is considered. For divergent integrals presented in the equation for dimension $d=2$ a regularization is used. Some numerical results are presented.
