Flux Density Variations at 3.6 cm in the Massive Star-Forming Region W49A

A number of ultracompact H II regions in Galactic star forming environments have been observed to vary significantly in radio flux density on timescales of 10-20 years. Theory predicted that such variations should occur when the accretion flow that feeds a young massive star becomes unstable and clumpy. We have targeted the massive star-forming region W49A with the Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array (VLA) for observations at 3.6 cm with the B-configuration at 0.8'' resolution, to compare to nearly identical observations taken almost 21 years earlier (February 2015 and August 1994). Most of the sources in the crowded field of ultracompact and hypercompact H II regions exhibit no significant changes over this time period. However, one source, W49A/G2, decreased by 20% in peak intensity (from 71+/-4 mJy/beam to 57+/-3 mJy/beam), and 40% in integrated flux (from 0.109+/-0.011 Jy to 0.067+/-0.007 Jy), where we cite 5 sigma errors in peak intensity, and 10% errors in integrated flux. We present the radio images of the W49A region at the two epochs, the difference image that indicates the location of the flux density decrease, and discuss explanations for the flux density decrease near the position of W49A/G2.

Some results on extension of maps and applications

This paper concerns extension of maps using obstruction theory under a non classical viewpoint. It is given a classification of homotopy classes of maps and as an application it is presented a simple proof of a theorem by Adachi about equivalence of vector bundles. Also it is proved that, under certain conditions, two embeddings are homotopic up to surgery if and only if the respective normal bundles are $SO$-equivalent.

Neutrino Masses and Absence of Flavor Changing Interactions in the 2HDM from Gauge Principles

We propose several Two Higgs Doublet Models with the addition of an Abelian gauge group which free the usual framework from flavor changing neutral interactions and explain neutrino masses through the seesaw mechanism. We discuss the kinetic and mass-mixing gripping phenomenology which encompass several constraints coming from atomic parity violation, the muon anomalous magnetic moment, rare meson decays, Higgs physics, LEP precision data, neutrino-electron scattering, low energy accelerators and LHC probes.

The Latin American Giant Observatory: Contributions to the 34th International Cosmic Ray Conference (ICRC 2015)

The Latin American Giant Observatory (LAGO) is an extended cosmic ray observatory composed by a network of water-Cherenkov detectors spanning over different sites located at significantly different altitudes (from sea level up to more than $5000$\,m a.s.l.) and latitudes across Latin America, covering a huge range of geomagnetic rigidity cut-offs and atmospheric absorption/reaction levels. This detection network is designed to measure the temporal evolution of the radiation flux at ground level with extreme detail. The LAGO project is mainly oriented to perform basic research in three branches: high energy phenomena, space weather and atmospheric radiation at ground level. LAGO is built and operated by the LAGO Collaboration, a non-centralized collaborative union of more than 30 institutions from ten countries.
