Update of beam coupling impedance evaluation by the stretched-wire method

In many cases beam coupling impedances or wake fields are calculated with computer simulator such as CST Studio Suite, GdfidL Electromagnetic Field Simulator and so on. But evaluation with the stretched-wire method is still very useful by its flexibility to the change of the device-under-test configuration, speed to get results and, more than anything, its accessibility on the real devices. One of the drawbacks in the practical procedure, difficulty of Thru-Reflect-Line calibration, is overcome using the calibration method recently introduced in high frequency vector network analyzers, "2-X THRU de-embedding". Here the procedure is explained in detail. The method has been successfully applied to RF cavity and FX kicker measurement in the J-PARC MR.

Pressure-Temperature-Magnetic Field Phase Diagram of Ferromagnetic Kondo Lattice CeRuPO

We report the temperature-pressure-magnetic field phase diagram made from electrical resistivity measurements for the ferromagnetic (FM) Kondo lattice CeRuPO. The ground state at zero field changes from the FM state to another state, which is suggested to be an antiferromagnetic (AFM) state, above ~0.7 GPa, and the magnetically ordered state is completely suppressed at ~2.8 GPa. In addition to the collapse of the AFM state under pressure and a magnetic field, a metamagnetic (MM) transition from a paramagnetic state to a polarized paramagnetic state appears. CeRuPO will give us a rich playground for understanding the mechanism of the MM transition under comparable FM and AFM correlations in the Kondo lattice.

Searches for very high energy gamma rays from blazars with CANGAROO-III telescope in 2005-2009

We have searched for very high energy (VHE) gamma rays from four blazars using the CANGAROO-III imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescope. We report the results of the observations of H 2356-309, PKS 2155-304, PKS 0537-441, and 3C 279, performed from 2005 to 2009, applying a new analysis to suppress the effects of the position dependence of Cherenkov images in the field of view. No significant VHE gamma ray emission was detected from any of the four blazars. The GeV gamma-ray spectra of these objects were obtained by analyzing Fermi/LAT archival data. Non-simultaneous wide range (radio to VHE gamma-ray bands) spectral energy distributions (SEDs) including CANGAROO-III upper limits, GeV gamma-ray spectra, and archival data are discussed using a one-zone synchrotron self-Compton (SSC) model in combination with a external Compton (EC) radiation. The HBLs (H 2356-309 and PKS 2155-304) can be explained by a simple SSC model, and PKS 0537-441 and 3C 279 are well modeled by a combination of SSC and EC model. We find a consistency with the blazar sequence in terms of strength of magnetic field and component size.
