The electronic Casimir-Polder force in a 1D tight-binding nanowire

We study the effect of two non-interacting impurity atoms near by a one-dimensional nanowire, which is modeled as a tight-binding hopping model. The virtual single-electron hopping between two impurities will induce an additional energy depending on the distance of two impurities, which gives a electronic Casimir-Polder effect. We find that the Casimir-Polder force between the two impurities decreases with the impurity-impurity distance exponentially. And the effects of nanowire and finite temperature on the Casimir-Polder force are also discussed in detail, respectively.

Coherent control of single photons in the cross resonator arrays via the dark state mechanism

We study the single photon transfer in a hybrid system where the normal modes of two coupled resonator arrays interact with two transition arms of a ?-type atom localized in the intersectional resonator. It is found that, due to the Fano-Feshbach effect based on the dark state of the ?-type atom, the photon transfer in one array can be well controlled by the bound state of the photon in the other array. This conceptual setup could be implemented in some practical cavity QED system to realize a quantum switch for single photon.

Berry phase in a composite system

The Berry phase in a composite system with only one subsystem being driven has been studied in this Letter. We choose two spin-$\frac 1 2 $ systems with spin-spin couplings as the composite system, one of the subsystems is driven by a time-dependent magnetic field. We show how the Berry phases depend on the coupling between the two subsystems, and what is the relation between these Berry phases of the whole system and those of the subsystems.
