Iterative Solution of the Kerr Black Hole Metric

Using a recursive solution of the Einstein equations, we consider the perturbative expansion of the metric corresponding to a Kerr black hole. Because the metric is a function of two parameters, Newton's constant G and the Kerr spin parameter a, the perturbation theory naturally becomes a double expansion. In harmonic gauge the recursion relations can be solved to arbitrarily high orders in these two expansion parameters but to re-sum the series into the closed-form harmonic gauge metric requires the introduction of terms that are redundant and correspond to the addition of harmonic functions to the coordinates. Issues related to dimensional regularization of Fourier transforms are explained in detail.

Gravitational Metric of a Star

Solving the classical equations of motion in general relativity recursively, we consider the metric of a spatially localized and stationary source of matter. Having in mind a star of general composition, we characterize it by means of its infinite set of mass and current multipoles. Specializing to de Donder gauge we set up the recursive equations that produce the metric outside the star to any desired order in perturbation theory, expanded both in Newton's constant and in the order of multipoles. Up to second post-Minkowskian order we express the result to any order in the multipole expansion in terms of generalized (tensor) bubble integrals in momentum space and a corresponding simple expansion in inverse distances. In a special corner of the space of multipoles we recover the Kerr black hole solution to the given order. By tweaking just slightly the multipoles away from the Kerr limit the metric will describe stars that are Kerr-like and yet are not black holes. A subtlety with respect to the gauge ambiguity of de Donder gauge is also pointed out.

AdS S-Matrix for Massive Vector Fields

We generalize a recent ``AdS S-matrix" formulation for interacting massive scalars on AdS spacetimes to the case of massive vector fields. This method relies on taking the infinite radius limit for scattering processes perturbatively, which is analyzed using Witten diagrams in the momentum space formulation of global AdS with embedding space coordinates. It recovers the S-matrix with subleading corrections in powers of the inverse AdS radius about a flat spacetime region within the bulk. We first derive the massive vector bulk-to-boundary and bulk-to-bulk propagators within this perturbation theory. As an example, we consider the Abelian Higgs Model in a certain regime of the coupling parameter space to model an interacting Proca theory on AdS spacetimes. We specifically compute the AdS S-matrix for a process involving massive external vector fields mediated by a massive scalar. We lastly discuss possible massless limit of propagators within this perturbative framework.

Soft and Collinear Limits in $\mathcal{N}=8$ Supergravity using Double Copy Formalism

It is known that $\mathcal{N}=8$ supergravity is dual to $\mathcal{N}=4$ super Yang-Mills (SYM) via the double copy relation. Using the explicit relation between scattering amplitudes in the two theories, we calculate the soft and collinear limits in $\mathcal{N}=8$ supergravity from know results in $\mathcal{N}=4$ SYM. In our application of double copy, a particular self-duality condition is chosen for scalars that allows us to constrain and determine the R-symmetry indices of the supergravity states in the collinear limit.

Asymptotic Symmetry algebra of $\mathcal{N}=8$ Supergravity

The asymptotic symmetry algebra of $\mathcal{N}=1$ supergravity was recently constructed using the well-known $2$D celestial CFT (CCFT) technique in ArXiv: 2007.03785. In this paper, we extend the construction to the maximally supersymmetric four dimensional $\mathcal{N}=8$ supergravity theory in asymptotically flat spacetime and construct the extended asymptotic symmetry algebra, which we call $\mathcal{N}=8$ $\mathfrak{sbms}_4$. We use the celestial CFT technique to find the appropriate currents for extensions of $\mathcal{N}=8$ super-Poincaré and $\mathrm{SU}(8)_R$ R-symmetry current algebra on the celestial sphere $\mathcal{CS}^2$. We generalise the definition of shadow transformations and show that there is \textit{no} infinite dimensional extension of the global $\mathrm{SU}(8)_R$ algebra in the theory.

Asymptotic Symmetry of Four Dimensional Einstein-Yang-Mills and Einstein-Maxwell Theory

Asymptotic symmetry plays an important role in determining physical observables of a theory. Recently, in the context of four dimensional asymptotically flat pure gravity and $\mathcal{N}=1$ supergravity, it has been proposed that OPEs of appropriate celestial amplitudes can be used to find their asymptotic symmetries. In this paper we find the asymptotic symmetry algebras of four dimensional Einstein-Yang-Mills and Einstein-Maxwell theories using this alternative approach, namely using the OPEs of their respective celestial amplitudes. The algebra obtained here are in agreement with the known results in the literature.
