Scale-Dependent Collective Adaptation in Self-Amending LLM Societies: A Cross-Family Study of Emergent Governance

We study group decision-making in artificial societies where the rules of play are themselves subject to collective amendment. Using the self-amending game Nomic, we compare multiple scales across two LLM families and find that collective adaptation does not improve monotonically with model size. Instead, both families exhibit a narrow mid-scale regime that supports sustained rule adoption, diverse amendments, and balanced consensus. Smaller models tend to remain rule-inert, whereas larger models often converge on restrictive voting patterns, and heterogeneous mixed-size groups collapse into veto-driven gridlock. These cross-scale contrasts persist under temperature perturbations and under a shift from unanimity to majority voting, although latent-state structure varies by family and scale. Hidden-state divergence alone does not explain collective performance: high representational divergence can coincide with poor behavioural outcomes. Linear probes reveal regime-selective coupling between latent vote-predictive signals and collective behaviour, but decodability is necessary rather than sufficient for adaptive play. Overall, the recurring regularity is non-monotonicity, not the particular scale at which the optimum appears. Self-amending games therefore provide a controlled testbed for studying collective adaptation in artificial societies beyond raw model scale.

Direction-sensitive dark matter search with three-dimensional vector-type tracking in NEWAGE

NEWAGE is a direction-sensitive dark matter search experiment with a three-dimensional tracking detector based on a gaseous micro time projection chamber. A direction-sensitive dark matter search was carried out at Kamioka Observatory with a total live time of 318.0 days resulting in an exposure of 3.18 kg$\cdot$days. A new gamma-ray rejection and a head-tail determination analysis were implemented for this work. No significant non-isotropic signal from the directional analysis was found and a 90% confidence level upper limit on spin-dependent WIMP-proton cross section of 25.7 pb for WIMP mass of 150 GeV/c2 was derived. This upper limit is the most stringent in the direction-sensitive dark matter searches.

Annihilator of $({\mathfrak g},K)$-modules of ${\mathrm O}(p,q)$

Let ${\mathfrak g}$ denote the complexified Lie algebra of $G={\mathrm O}(p,q)$ and $K$ a maximal compact subgroup of $G$. In the previous paper, we constructed $({\mathfrak g},K)$-modules associated to the finite-dimensional representation of ${\mathfrak sl}_2$ of dimension $m+1$, which we denote by $M^{+}(m)$ and $M^{-}(m)$. The aim of this paper is to show that the annihilator of $M^{\pm}(m)$ is the Joseph ideal if and only if $m=0$. We shall see that an element of the symmetric of square $S^{2}({\mathfrak g})$ that is given in terms of the Casimir elements of ${\mathfrak g}$ and the complexified Lie algebra of $K$ plays a critical role in the proof of the main result.

Direction-sensitive dark matter search with a low-background gaseous detector NEWAGE-0.3b''

NEWAGE is a direction-sensitive dark matter search using a low-pressure gaseous time projection chamber. A low alpha-ray emission rate micro pixel chamber had been developed in order to reduce background for dark matter search. We conducted the dark matter search at the Kamioka Observatory in 2018. The total live time was 107.6 days corresponding to an exposure of 1.1 kg${\cdot}$days. Two events remained in the energy region of 50-60 keV which was consistent with 2.5 events of the expected background. A directional analysis was carried out and no significant forward-backward asymmetry derived from the WIMP-nucleus elastic scatterings was found. Thus a 90% confidence level upper limit on Spin-Dependent WIMP-proton cross section of 50 pb for a WIMP mass of 100 GeV/c2 was derived. This limit is the most stringent yet obtained from direction-sensitive dark matter search experiments.

Development of a low-$\alpha$-emitting $\mu$-PIC as a readout device for direction-sensitive dark matter detectors

Direction sensitivity could provide robust evidence for the direct detection of weakly interacting massive particles constituting dark matter. However, the sensitivity of this method remains low due to the radioactive backgrounds. The purpose of this study is to develop a low-background detector as a two-dimensional imaging device for a gaseous time projection chamber. In direction-sensitive dark matter experiments~(e.g. NEWAGE), $\alpha$-rays emitted from the detector components often create substantial radioactive backgrounds. Based on the study of the background of NEWAGE, a new detector "low-$\alpha$ $\mu$-PIC" is developed. The produced $\mu$-PIC performs well as a gas detector and the $\alpha$-ray emission rate from the $\mu$-PIC reduced by a factor of 100.

$(\mathfrak{g},K)$-module of $\mathrm{O}(p,q)$ associated with the finite-dimensional representation of $\mathfrak{sl}_2$

The main aim of this paper is to construct irreducible $(\mathfrak{g},K)$-modules of $\mathrm{O}(p,q)$ corresponding to the finite-dimensional representation of $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ of dimension $m+1$ under the Howe duality, to find the $K$-type formula, the Gelfand-Kirillov dimension and the Bernstein degree of them, where $m$ is a non-negative integer. The $K$-type formula for $m=0$ shows that it is nothing but the $(\mathfrak{g},K)$-module of the minimal representation of $\mathrm{O}(p,q)$. One finds that the Gelfand-Kirillov dimension is equal to $p+q-3$ not only for $m=0$ but for any $m$ satisfying $m+3 \leq (p+q)/2$ when $p, q \geq 2$ and $p+q$ is even, and that the Bernstein degree for $m$ is equal to $(m+1)$ times that for $m=0$.

Development of a time projection chamber with a sheet-resistor field cage

A new-concept time projection chamber (TPC) using a commercial resistive sheet, sheet-resistor micro-TPC SR-microPIC, was developed and its performance was measured. SR-microTPC has the potential to create a more uniform electric field than conventional TPCs with resistor-chains owing to its continuous sheet resistivity, and its production would be easier than that of conventional TPCs. The material used in this study, Achilles-Vynilas, was found to be thin, transparent, and low-radioactive. The performance test with cosmic muons showed very promising results, including the demonstration of a good tracking-performance. This type of TPC field cage can offer an alternative for the widely used conventional field cages

Study of Negative-Ion TPC Using μ-PIC for Directional Dark Matter Search

Negative-ion time projection chambers(TPCs) have been studied for low-rate and high-resolution applications such as dark matter search experiments. Recently, a full volume fiducialization in a self-triggering TPC was realized. This innovative technology demonstrated a significant reduction in the background with MWPC-TPCs. We studied negative-ion TPC using the μ-PIC+GEM system and obtained sufficient gas gain with CS$_{2}$gas and SF$_{6}$ gas at low pressures. We expect an improvement in detector sensitivity and angular resolution with better electronics.

Development of a low-alpha-emitting μ-PIC for NEWAGE direction-sensitive dark-matter search

NEWAGE is a direction-sensitive dark-matter-search experiment that uses a micro-patterned gaseous detector, or μ-PIC, as the readout. The main background sources are α-rays from radioactive contaminants in the μ-PIC. We have therefore developed a low-alpha-emitting μ-PICs and measured its performances. We measured the surface α-ray emission rate of the μ-PIC in the Kamioka mine using a surface α-ray counter based on a micro TPC.

The moment map on symplectic vector space and oscillator representation

The aim of this paper is to show that the canonical quantization of the moment maps on symplectic vector spaces naturally gives rise to the oscillator representations. More precisely, let $(W,ω)$ denote a real symplectic vector space, on which a Lie group $G$ acts symplectically on the left, where $G$ denotes a real reductive Lie group $\mathrm{Sp}(n,\mathbb R), \mathrm U(p,q)$ or $\mathrm O^*(2n)$ in this paper. Then we quantize the moment map $μ: W \to \mathfrak g_0^*$, where $\mathfrak g_0^*$ denotes the dual space of the Lie algebra $\mathfrak g_0$ of $G$. Namely, after taking a complex Lagrangian subspace $V$ of the complexification of $W$, we assign an element of the Weyl algebra for $V$ to $< μ, X >$, which we denote by $< \hatμ, X >$, for each $X \in \mathfrak g_0$. It is shown that the map $X \mapsto \mathrm i <\hatμ, X >$ gives a representation of $\mathfrak g_0$ which extends to the one of $\mathfrak g$, the complexification of $\mathfrak g_0$, by linearity. With a suitable choice of the complex Lagrangian subspace $V$ in each case, the representation coincides with the oscillator representation of $\mathfrak g$.

A twisted moment map and its equivariance

Let $G$ be a linear connected complex reductive Lie group. The purpose of this paper is to give explicit symplectic isomorphisms from twisted cotangent bundles of the complex generalized flag varieties, whose transition functions are given by affine transformations instead of linear transformations, onto the complex coadjoint semisimple orbits. Moreover, the isomorphisms are shown to be $G$-equivariant.

30S RI Beam Production and X-ray Bursts

The present work reports the results of 30S radioactive beam development for a future experiment directly measuring data to extrapolate the 30S(alpha,p) stellar reaction rate in Type I X-ray bursts, a phenomena where nuclear explosions occur repeatedly on the surface of accreting neutron stars. We produce the radioactive ion 30S via the 3He(28Si,30S)n reaction, by bombarding a cryogenically cooled target of 3He at 400 Torr and 80 K with 28Si beams of 6.9 and 7.54 MeV/u. In order to perform a successful future experiment which allows us to calculate the stellar 30S(alpha, p) reaction rate, Hauser-Feshbach calculations indicate we require a 30S beam of ~10^5 particles per second at ~32 MeV. Based on our recent beam development experiments in 2006 and 2008, it is believed that such a beam may be fabricated in 2009 according to the results presented. We plan to measure the 4He(30S,p) cross-section at astrophysical energies in 2009, and some brief remarks on the planned (alpha,p) technique are also elucidated.

Generating function for GL_n-invariant differential operators in the skew Capelli identity

Let Alt_n be the vector space of all alternating n-by-n complex matrices, on which the complex general linear group GL_n acts by $x \mapsto g x g^t$. The aim of this paper is to show that Pfaffian of a certain matrix whose entries are multiplication operators or derivations acting on polynomials on Alt_n provides a generating function for the GL_n-invariant differential operators that play a role in the skew Capelli identity, with coefficients the Hermite polynomials.

On the principal symbols of $K_{\mathbb C}$-invariant differential operators on Hermitian symmetric spaces

Let $(G,K)$ be one of the following classical irreducible Hermitian symmetric pairs of noncompact type: $(SU(p,q), S(U(p) \times U(q))),(Sp(n,R), U(n))$, or $(SO*(2n), U(n))$. Let $G_{\mathbb C}$ and $K_{\mathbb C}$ be complexifications of $G$ and $K$, respectively, and let $P$ be a maximal parabolic subgroup of $G_{\mathbb C}$ whose Levi subgroup is $K_{\mathbb C}$. Let $V$ be the holomorphic part of the complexifiaction of the tangent space at the origin of $G/K$. It is well known that the ring of $K_{\mathbb C}$-invariant differential operators on $V$ has a generating system $\{\varGamma_k \}$ given in terms of determinant or Pfaffian that plays an essential role in the Capelli identities. Our main result of this paper is that determinant or Pfaffian of the ``moment map'' on the holomorphic cotangent bundle of $G_{\mathbb C}/P$ provides a generating function for the principal symbols of $\varGamma_k$'s.

A central element in the universal enveloping algebra of type D_n via minor summation formula of Pfaffians

It is known that the universal enveloping algebra of the orthogonal Lie algebra of size even has a central element expressed in terms of Pfaffian of a certain matrix alternating along the anti-diagonal (which we call anti-alternating for short) whose entries are in the univerasal enveloping algebra. In this paper, we establish minor summation formulae of Pfaffian for the noncommutative anti-alternating matrix, as well as for commutative anti-alternating matrix. As an application, we show that the eigenvalues on the highest weight modules of the central element given by the Pfaffian can be easily computed.

Dynamics and computation in functional shifts

We introduce a new type of shift dynamics as an extended model of symbolic dynamics, and investigate the characteristics of shift spaces from the viewpoints of both dynamics and computation. This shift dynamics is called a functional shift that is defined by a set of bi-infinite sequences of some functions on a set of symbols. To analyze the complexity of functional shifts, we measure them in terms of topological entropy, and locate their languages in the Chomsky hierarchy. %Through this study, we argue that complexity of dynamics does not correspond to that of computation. Through this study, we argue that considering functional shifts from the viewpoints of both dynamics and computation give us opposite results about the complexity of systems. We also describe a new class of shift spaces whose languages are not recursively enumerable.
