Alternating Walk/Zeta Correspondence

We consider the alternating zeta function and the alternating $L$-function of a graph $G$, and express them by using the Ihara zeta function of $G$. Next, we define a generalized alternating zeta function of a graph, and express the generalized alternating zeta function of a vertex-transitive regular graph by spectra of the transition probability matrix of the symmetric simple random walk on it and its Laplacian. Furthermore, we present an integral expression for the limit of the generalized alternating zeta functions of a series of vertex-transitive regular graphs. As an example, we treat the generalized alternating zeta functions of a finite torus. Finally, we treat the relation between the Mahler measure and the alternating zeta function of a graph.

Ronkin/Zeta Correspondence

The Ronkin function was defined by Ronkin in the consideration of the zeros of almost periodic function. Recently, this function has been used in various research fields in mathematics, physics and so on. Especially in mathematics, it has a closed connections with tropical geometry, amoebas, Newton polytopes and dimer models. On the other hand, we have been investigated a new class of zeta functions for various kinds of walks including quantum walks by a series of our previous work on Zeta Correspondence. The quantum walk is a quantum counterpart of the random walk. In this paper, we present a new relation between the Ronkin function and our zeta function for random walks and quantum walks. Firstly we consider this relation in the case of one-dimensional random walks. Afterwards we deal with higher-dimensional random walks. For comparison with the case of the quantum walk, we also treat the case of one-dimensional quantum walks. Our results bridge between the Ronkin function and the zeta function via quantum walks for the first time.

Walk/Zeta Correspondence

Our previous work presented explicit formulas for the generalized zeta function and the generalized Ihara zeta function corresponding to the Grover walk and the positive-support version of the Grover walk on the regular graph via the Konno-Sato theorem, respectively. This paper extends these walks to a class of walks including random walks, correlated random walks, quantum walks, and open quantum random walks on the torus by the Fourier analysis.

The limit theorem with respect to the matrices on non-backtracking paths of a graph

We give a limit theorem with respect to the matrices related to non-backtracking paths of a regular graph. The limit obtained closely resembles the $k$th moments of the arcsine law. Furthermore, we obtain the asymptotics of the averages of the $p^m$th Fourier coefficients of the cusp forms related to the Ramanujan graphs defined by A. Lubotzky, R. Phillips and P. Sarnak.

Metzler/Zeta Correspondence

We present an explicit formula for the determinant on the Metzler matrix of a digraph $D$. Furthermore, we introduce a walk-type zeta function with respect to this Metzler matrix of the symmetric digraph of a finite torus, and express its limit formula by using the integral expression.

CTM/Zeta Correspondence

In our previous work, we investigated the relation between zeta functions and discrete-time models including random and quantum walks. In this paper, we introduce a zeta function for the continuous-time model (CTM) and consider CTMs including the corresponding random and quantum walks on the d-dimensional torus.

Mahler/Zeta Correspondence

The Mahler measure was introduced by Mahler in the study of number theory. It is known that the Mahler measure appears in different areas of mathematics and physics. On the other hand, we have been investigated a new class of zeta functions for various kinds of walks including quantum walks by a series of our previous work on "Zeta Correspondence". The quantum walk is a quantum counterpart of the random walk. In this paper, we present a new relation between the Mahler measure and our zeta function for quantum walks. Firstly we consider this relation in the case of one-dimensional quantum walks. Afterwards we deal with higher-dimensional quantum walks. For comparison with the case of the quantum walk, we also treat the case of higher-dimensional random walks. Our results bridge between the Mahler measure and the zeta function via quantum walks for the first time.

IPS/Zeta Correspondence

Our previous works presented zeta functions by the Konno-Sato theorem or the Fourier analysis for one-particle models including random walks, correlated random walks, quantum walks, and open quantum random walks. This paper introduces a new zeta function for multi-particle models with probabilistic or quantum interactions, called the interacting particle system (IPS). We compute the zeta function for some tensor-type IPSs.

A Generalized Grover/Zeta Correspondence

We introduce a generalized Grover matrix of a graph and present an explicit formula for its characteristic polynomial. As a corollary, we give the spectra for the generalized Grover matrix of a regular graph. Next, we define a zeta function and a generalized zeta function of a graph $G$ with respect to its generalized Grover matrix as an analog of the Ihara zeta function and present explicit formulas for their zeta functions for a vertex-transitive graph. As applications, we express the limit on the generalized zeta functions of a family of finite vertex-transitive regular graphs by an integral. Furthermore, we give the limit on the generalized zeta functions of a family of finite tori as an integral expression.

Stationary measure induced by the eigenvalue problem of the one-dimensional Hadamard walk

In this paper, we consider the stationary measure of the Hadamard walk on the one-dimensional integer lattice. Here all the stationary measures given by solving the eigenvalue problem are completely determined via the transfer matrix method. Then these stationary measures can be divided into three classes, i.e., quadratic polynomial, bounded, and exponential types. In particular, we present an explicit necessary and sufficient condition for the bounded-type stationary measure to be periodic.

A note on the Grover walk and the generalized Ihara zeta function of the one-dimensional integer lattice

Chinta, Jorgenson and Karlsson introduced a generalized version of the determinant formula for the Ihara zeta function associated to finite or infinite regular graphs. On the other hand, Konno and Sato obtained a formula of the characteristic polynomial of the Grover matrix by using the determinant expression for the second weighted zeta function of a finite graph. In this paper, we focus on a relationship between the Grover walk and the generalized Ihara zeta function. That is to say, we treat the generalized Ihara zeta function of the one-dimensional integer lattice as a limit of the Ihara zeta function of the cycle graph.

Asymptotic properties of generalized eigenfunctions for multi-dimensional quantum walks

We construct a distorted Fourier transformation associated with the multi-dimensional quantum walk. In order to avoid the complication of notations, almost all of our arguments are restricted to two dimensional quantum walks (2DQWs) without loss of generality. The distorted Fourier transformation characterizes generalized eigenfunctions of the time evolution operator of the QW. The 2DQW which will be considered in this paper has an anisotropy due to the definition of the shift operator for the free QW. Then we define an anisotropic Banach space as a modified Agmon-Hörmander's $\mathcal{B}^*$ space and we derive the asymptotic behavior at infinity of generalized eigenfunctions in these spaces. The scattering matrix appears in the asymptotic expansion of generalized eigenfunctions.

Grover/Zeta Correspondence based on the Konno-Sato theorem

Recently the Ihara zeta function for the finite graph was extended to infinite one by Clair and Chinta et al. In this paper, we obtain the same expressions by a different approach from their analytical method. Our new approach is to take a suitable limit of a sequence of finite graphs via the Konno-Sato theorem. This theorem is related to explicit formulas of characteristic polynomials for the evolution matrix of the Grover walk. The walk is one of the most well-investigated quantum walks which are quantum counterpart of classical random walks. We call the relation between the Grover walk and the zeta function based on the Konno-Sato theorem "Grover/Zeta Correspondence" here.

Vertex-Face/Zeta correspondence

We present the characteristic polynomial for the transition matrix of a vertex-face walk on a graph, and obtain its spectra. Furthermore, we express the characteristic polynomial for the transition matrix of a vertex-face walk on the 2-dimensional torus by using its adjacency matrix, and obtain its spectra. As an application, we define a new walk-type zeta function with respect to the transition matrix of a vertex-face walk on the 2-dimensional torus, and present its explicit formula.

A discontinuity of the energy of quantum walk in impurities

We consider the discrete-time quantum walk whose local dynamics is denoted by $C$ at the perturbed region $\{0,1,\dots,M-1\}$ and free at the other positions. We obtain the stationary state with a bounded initial state. The initial state is set so that the perturbed region receives the inflow $ω^n$ at time $n$ $(|ω|=1)$. From this expression, we compute the scattering on the surface of $-1$ and $M$ and also compute the quantity how quantum walker accumulates in the perturbed region; namely the energy of the quantum walk, in the long time limit. We find a discontinuity of the energy with respect to the frequency of the inflow.

The scattering matrix with respect to an Hermitian matrix of a graph

Recently, Gnutzmann and Smilansky presented a formula for the bond scattering matrix of a graph with respect to a Hermitian matrix. We present another proof for this Gnutzmann and Smilansky's formula by a technique used in the zeta function of a graph. Furthermore, we generalize Gnutzmann and Smilansky's formula to a regular covering of a graph. Finally, we define an $L$-fuction of a graph, and present a determinant expression. As a corollary, we express the generalization of Gnutzmann and Smilansky's formula to a regular covering of a graph by using its $L$-functions.

Generalized eigenfunctions for quantum walks via path counting approach

We consider the time-independent scattering theory for time evolution operators of one-dimensional two-state quantum walks. The scattering matrix associated with the position-dependent quantum walk naturally appears in the asymptotic behavior at spatial infinity of generalized eigenfunctions. The asymptotic behavior of generalized eigenfunctions is a consequence of an explicit expression of the Green function associated with the free quantum walk. When the position-dependent quantum walk is a finite rank perturbation of the free quantum walk, we derive a kind of combinatorial constructions of the scattering matrix by counting paths of quantum walkers. We also mention some remarks on the tunneling effect.
