Big-Bang Nucleosynthesis and Gravitino

We derive big-bang nucleosynthesis (BBN) constraints on both unstable and stable gravitino taking account of recent progresses in theoretical study of the BBN processes as well as observations of primordial light-element abundances. In the case of unstable gravitino, we set the upper limit on the reheating temperature assuming that the primordial gravitinos are mainly produced by the scattering processes of thermal particles. For stable gravitino, we consider Bino, stau and sneutrino as the next-to-the-lightest supersymmetric particle and obtain constraints on their properties. Compared with the previous works, we improved the following points: (i) we use the most recent observational data, (ii) for gravitino production, we include contribution of the longitudinal component, and (iii) for the case with unstable long-lived stau, we estimate the bound-state effect of stau accurately by solving the Boltzmann equation.

Test of Anomaly Mediation at the LHC

In the anomaly-mediated supersymmetry breaking model with the assumption of the generic form of Kahler potential, gauginos are the only kinematically accessible superparticles to the LHC. We consider the LHC phenomenology of such a model assuming that the gluino is lighter than 1 TeV. We show that a significant number of charged Winos, which may travel O(10 cm) before the decay, are produced from the gluino production processes. Thus, in this class of model, it will be very important to search for short charged tracks using inner detectors. We also show that, if a large number of the charged Wino tracks are identified, the lifetime of the charged Wino can be measured, which provides us a test of anomaly mediation.

Gravitino Dark Matter with Weak-Scale Right-Handed Sneutrino

We consider cosmological implications of supersymmetric models with right-handed (s)neutrinos where the neutrino masses are purely Dirac-type. We pay particular attention to the case where gravitino is the lightest superparticle while one of the right-handed sneutrinos is next-to-the-lightest superparticle. We study constraints from big-bang nuleosynthesis and show that the constraints could be relaxed compared to the case without right-handed sneutrinos. As a result, the gravitino-dark-matter scenario becomes viable with relatively large value of the gravitino mass. We also discuss constraints from the structure formation; in our model, the free-streaming length of the gravitino dark matter may be as long as O(1 Mpc), which is comparable to the present observational upper bound on the scale of free-streaming.

Cosmology of Gravitino LSP Scenario with Right-Handed Sneutrino NLSP

We consider supersymmetric model with right-handed (s)neutrinos where the neutrino masses are purely Dirac-type. We discuss cosmology based on such a scenario, paying particular attention to the case that the gravitino is the lightest superparticles (LSP) while the right-handed sneutrino is the next-LSP. It will be shown that the cosmological constraints on the gravitino-LSP scenario (in particular, those from the big-bang nucleosynthesis) are drastically relaxed in such a case. We will also consider the implication of such scenario to the structure formation.

Decay of Scalar Condensation in Quantum Field Theory

We consider decay processes of scalar-field condensation in the framework of well-established quantum field theory. We postulate that the quantum state corresponding to the scalar-field condensation is so-called coherent state with discussing the validity of such a treatment. We show that, by using the unitarity relation of the scattering matrix, decay rate of the coherent state is systematically calculated. We apply our procedure to derive explicit formulae of decay rates for two cases: (i) we study the case where the scalar condensation decays into a pair of scalar particles and show that our formalism reproduces the results obtained from the parametric-resonance analysis, and (ii) we also calculate the decay rate when the coherent state decays via anomaly.

Testing the Anomaly Mediation at the LHC

We consider a supersymmetric model in which gaugino masses are generated by the anomaly-mediation mechanism while scalar masses are from tree-level supergravity interaction. In such a model, scalar fermions as well as Higgsinos become as heavy as O(10-100TeV) and hence only the gauginos are superparticles kinematically accessible to the LHC. We study how and how well the properties of gauginos can be studied. We also discuss the strategy to test the anomaly-mediation model at the LHC.

Cosmological Constraints on Neutrino Injection

We derive general constraints on the relic abundances of a long-lived particle which mainly decays into a neutrino (and something else) at cosmological time scales. Such an exotic particle may show up in various particle-physics models based on physics beyond the standard model. The constraints are obtained from big-bang nucleosynthesis, cosmic microwave background and diffuse neutrino and photon fluxes, depending on the lifetime and the electromagnetic and hadronic branching ratios.

Big-Bang Nucleosynthesis with Long-Lived Charged Slepton

We consider constraints on long-lived charged scalar leptons \tilde{l}^\pm in supersymmetric models, where gravitino is the lightest superparticle. We study the decay and hadronization processes of \tilde{l}^\pm. We also take into account the significant enhancement of Li6 production due to the formation of the bound-state (He4 \tilde{l}^-); for this purpose, we use the reaction rate given by the most recent calculation based on coupled-channel method.

Right-Handed Sneutrino as Cold Dark Matter of the Universe

We consider the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) extended by introducing three right-handed (s)neutrinos to account for neutrino masses in the oscillation experiments. Assuming that the neutrino masses are purely Dirac-type, the lightest right-handed sneutrino $\tilde ν_R$ can be the lightest superparticle (LSP), which is a good candidate of cold dark matter (CDM) of the universe. We study the possibility of realizing $\tilde ν_R$-CDM, paying a special attention to the production of $\tilde ν_R$ via decay of the next-to-lightest superparticle (NLSP) after its freeze-out time. It is shown that the late decay of the MSSM-LSP (the LSP among superparticles in the MSSM) can produce a sufficient amount of $\tilde ν_R$ to explain the observed dark-matter density, and that the $\tilde ν_R$-CDM scenario can be realized in a wide range of parameter space. We also consider the constraint on the decay of MSSM-LSP from the big-bang nucleosynthesis (BBN); we found that the case with stau being the MSSM-LSP is severely constrained.

Possible Signals of Wino LSP at the Large Hadron Collider

We consider a class of anomaly-mediated supersymmetry breaking models where gauginos acquire masses mostly from anomaly mediation while masses of other superparticles are from Kahler interactions, which are as large as gravitino mass, O(10-100) TeV. In this class of models, the neutral Wino becomes the lightest superparticle in a wide parameter region. The mass splitting between charged and neutral Winos are very small and experimental discovery of such Winos is highly non-trivial. We discuss how we should look for Wino-induced signals at Large Hadron Collider.

Cosmological Constraints on Gravitino LSP Scenario with Sneutrino NLSP

We study the scenario where a sneutrino is the next lightest supersymmetric particle (NLSP) and decays into a gravitino and standard model particles. The daughter particles such as neutrinos and quarks cause electro- and hadronic showers and affect big-bang nucleosynthesis. It is found that despite a small branching ratio, four-body processes including quarks in the final state give the most stringent constraint on the sneutrino abundance for gravitino mass of 1 $-$ 100 GeV. Pion production by high energy neutrinos is important when the sneutrinos decay at $\sim$ 1 sec. We also discuss the thermal leptogenesis in the sneutrino NLSP scenario.

QCD Correction to Neutralino Annihilation Process and Dark Matter Density in Supersymmetric Models

We calculate QCD correction to the neutralino annihilation cross section into quark anti-quark final state and discuss its implications to the calculation of neutralino relic density. We see that the QCD correction enhances the pair-annihilation cross section by O(10 %) when final-state quarks are non-relativistic. Consequently, when the lightest neutralinos dominantly annihilate into a t\bar{t} pair, the relic density of the lightest neutralino is significantly affected by the QCD correction, in particular when the lightest-neutralino mass is close to the top-quark mass.

Supersymmetric Heavy Higgses at e^+e^- Linear Collider and Dark-Matter Physics

We consider the capability of the e^+e^- linear collider (which is recently called as the International Linear Collider, or ILC) for studying the properties of the heavy Higgs bosons in the supersymmetric standard model. We pay special attention to the large \tanβregion which is motivated, in particular, by explaining the dark-matter density of the universe (i.e., so-called ``rapid-annihilation funnels''). We perform a systematic analysis to estimate expected uncertainties in the masses and widths of the heavy Higgs bosons assuming an energy and integrated luminosity of \sqrt{s}=1 TeV and L=1 ab^{-1}. We also discuss its implication to the reconstruction of the dark-matter density of the universe.

Right-Handed Sneutrino as Cold Dark Matter

We consider supersymmetric models with right-handed neutrinos where neutrino masses are purely Dirac-type. In this model, right-handed sneutrino can be the lightest supersymmetric particle and can be a viable candidate of cold dark matter of the universe. Right-handed sneutrinos are never thermalized in the early universe because of weakness of Yukawa interaction, but are effectively produced by decays of various superparticles. We show that the present mass density of right-handed sneutrino can be consistent with the observed dark matter density.

Gravitino Production in the Early Universe and Its Implications to Particle Cosmology

Effects of the unstable gravitino on the big-bang nucleosynthesis (BBN) and its implications to particle cosmology are discussed. If the gravitino mass is smaller than \sim 20 TeV, lifetime of the gravitino becomes longer than \sim 1sec and its decay may spoil the success of the standard BBN. In order to avoid such a problem, upper bound on the reheating temperature after the inflation is obtained, which may be as low as \sim 10^{5-6} GeV. For a successful baryogenesis with such low reheating temeprature, a consistent scenario based on the large cutoff supergravity (LCSUGRA) hypothesis of supersymmetry breaking, where the gravitino and sfermion become as heavy as \sim O(1-10 TeV), is proposed. In the LCSUGRA, non-thermal leptogenesis can produce large enough baryon asymmetry. We also see that, in the LCSUGRA scenario, relic density of the lightest superparticle becomes consistent with the WMAP value of the dark matter density in the parameter region required for the successful non-thermal leptogenesis. In this case, the dark matter density may be reconstructed with the future e^+e^- linear collider.

Radiative Decay of a Long-Lived Particle and Big-Bang Nucleosynthesis

The effects of radiatively decaying, long-lived particles on big-bang nucleosynthesis (BBN) are discussed. If high-energy photons are emitted after BBN, they may change the abundances of the light elements through photodissociation processes, which may result in a significant discrepancy between the BBN theory and observation. We calculate the abundances of the light elements, including the effects of photodissociation induced by a radiatively decaying particle, but neglecting the hadronic branching ratio. Using these calculated abundances, we derive a constraint on such particles by comparing our theoretical results with observations. Taking into account the recent controversies regarding the observations of the light-element abundances, we derive constraints for various combinations of the measurements. We also discuss several models which predict such radiatively decaying particles, and we derive constraints on such models.

Reconstructing Dark Matter Density with e^+e^- Linear Collider in Focus-Point Supersymmetry

It has been known that, in the focus point scenario of supersymmetry, the thermal relic of the lightest superparticle (LSP) is known to be a good candidate of the cold dark matter. Assuming that the LSP in the focus-point scenario be the cold dark matter, we address a question how and how well the relic density of the LSP can be determined once the superparticles are found at future e^+e^- linear collider. We will see that the determinations of the mass of the LSP as well as those of the Higgsino-like chargino and neutralinos, which will be possible by a study of the decay kinematics of the chargino or by threshold scan, will give us important information to theoretically reconstruct the relic density. Even if the Higgsino-like superparticles and the LSP are the only superparticles which are kinematically accessible, relic density of the LSP may be calculated with the accuracy of factor \sim 2; by adopting a mild theoretical assumption or by determining the masses of the Wino-like superparticles, uncertaintiy can be reduced to \sim 10 % or smaller.

Big-Bang Nucleosynthesis with Unstable Gravitino and Upper Bound on the Reheating Temperature

We study the effects of the unstable gravitino on the big-bang nucleosynthesis. If the gravitino mass is smaller than \sim 10 TeV, primordial gravitinos produced after the inflation are likely to decay after the big-bang nucleosynthesis starts, and the light element abundances may be significantly affected by the hadro- and photo-dissociation processes as well as by the p n conversion process. We calculate the light element abundances and derived upper bound on the reheating temperature after the inflation. In our analysis, we calculate the decay parameters of the gravitino (i.e., lifetime and branching ratios) in detail. In addition, we performed a systematic study of the hadron spectrum produced by the gravitino decay, taking account of all the hadrons produced by the decay products of the gravitino (including the daughter superparticles). We discuss the model-dependence of the upper bound on the reheating temperature.
