Rotating traversable wormhole geometries in the presence of three-form fields

In this work, we study the rotating wormhole geometries supported by a three-form field. We demonstrate for particular choices of parameters that it is possible for the matter fields threading the wormhole to satisfy the null and weak energy conditions throughout the spacetime, when the three-form field is present. In this case, the form field is interpreted as supporting the wormhole and all the exoticity is confined to it. Thus, the three-form curvature terms, which may be interpreted as a gravitational fluid, sustain these wormhole geometries. Additionally, we also address the ergoregion of the solutions.

Scalarization of planar anti de Sitter charged black holes in Einstein-Maxwell-Scalar theory

We construct scalarized planar charged black holes in Einstein-Maxwell-scalar (EMS) theory with the presence of a negative cosmological constant. Domains of existence of black hole solutions are given in term of nonminimally coupling constant $α$. Perturbative stability of a scalarized black hole is investigated by calculating its quasinormal modes. Thermodynamic properties of the scalarized planar solution are also discussed. We observe no evidence of instability of the scalarized black holes. Moreover, we find that scalarized planar charged AdS black holes are thermodynamically preferred over scalar-free solutions in grand canonical and canonical ensembles. The transition between scalar-free solutions and scalarized solutions is found to be the thermal second order phase transition. The transition of these solutions shares some similar features with conductor-superconductor phase transition.

Wormholes and energy conditions in $f(R,T)$ gravity

We explore the existence of wormholes in the context of $f(R,T)$ gravity. The $f(R,T)$ theory is a curvature-matter coupled modified gravity that depends on an arbitrary function of the Ricci scalar $R$ and the trace of the stress-energy tensor $T$. In this work, we adopt two different choices for the matter Lagrangian density ($\mathcal{L}_m= \mathcal{P}$ and $\mathcal{L}_m= p_r$) and investigate the impact of each one on wormhole structure. By adequately specifying the redshift function and the shape function, we found a variety of exact wormhole solutions in the theory. Our finding indicates that, for both classes of wormholes the energy density is always positive throughout the spacetime, while the radial pressure is negative. This means exotic matter is necessary for the existence of wormholes in $f(R,T)$ gravity.

The Mass-Radius relation for Quark Stars in Energy-Momentum Squared Gravity

We study the structure of quark stars (QSs) adopting homogeneously confined matter inside the star with a 3-flavor neutral charge and a fixed strange quark mass $m_s$. We explore the internal structure, and the physical properties of specific classes of QSs in the recently proposed energy-momentum squared gravity (EMSG). Also, we obtain the mass-radius $(M-R)$ and mass-central energy density $(M-ρ_c)$ relations for QS using the QCD motivated EoS. The maximum mass for QSs in EMSG is investigated depending on the presence and absence of the free parameter $α$. Furthermore, the stability of stars is determined by the condition $\frac{d M}{d ρ_c}>0$. We observe that consideration of the EMSG has specific contributions to the structure of QSs.

The criteria of the anisotropic quark star models in Rastall gravity

Quark stars are terrestrial laboratories to study fundamental physics at ultrahigh densities and temperatures. In this work, we investigate the internal structure and the physical properties of quark stars (QSs) in the Rastall gravity. Rastall gravity is considered a non-conservative theory of gravity, which is an effective gravity theory at high energy density, e.g., relevant to the early universe and dense, compact objects. We derive the hydrostatic equilibrium structure for QSs with the inclusion of anisotropic pressure. More specifically, we find the QS mass-radius relations for the MIT bag model. We focus on the model depending on the Rastall free parameter $η$ and examine the deviations from the General Relativity (GR) counterparts.

Charged quark stars in $f(R,T)$ gravity

Recent advances in nuclear theory combined with new astrophysical observations have led to the need for specific theoretical models that actually apply to phenomena on dense-matter physics. At the same time, quantum chromodynamics (QCD) predicts the existence of non-nucleonic degrees of freedom at high densities in neutron-star matter, such as quark matter. Within a confining quark matter model, which consists of homogeneous, neutral 3-flavor interacting quark matter with $\mathcal{O}(m_s^4)$ corrections, we study the structure of compact stars made of a charged perfect fluid in the context of $f(R,T)$ gravity. The system of differential equations that describe the structure of charged compact stars have been derived and solved numerically for a gravity model with $f(R,T)= R+ 2βT$. For simplicity, we assume that the charge density is proportional to the energy density, namely, $ρ_{\rm ch} = αρ$. It is demonstrated that matter-geometry coupling constant $β$ and the charge parameter $α$ affect the total gravitational mass and the radius of the star.

Charged traversable wormholes supported by Casimir energy with and without GUP corrections

In this paper, we investigate new exact and analytic solutions of the Einstein Maxwell field equations describing Casimir wormholes with and without the effect of the Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP). We consider a specific type of the GUP relations and study three specific models of the redshift function along with two different EoS of state. Here we obtain a class of asymptotically flat Casimir wormhole solutions with and without GUP corrections under the effect of electric charge. Furthermore we check the null, weak, strong and dominant energy conditions at the wormhole throat of radius, and show at the wormhole throat that the classical energy conditions are violated by some arbitrary small quantity. We also examine the wormhole geometry with semiclassical corrections by using embedding diagrams. We use the volume integral quantifier to quantify the amount of the exotic matter near the wormhole throat. Additionally, we investigate exotic fluid near WH throat using the so called exoticity parameter and discuss the speed of sound.

Wormhole geometries in $f(Q)$ gravity and the energy conditions

Following the recent theory of $f(Q)$ gravity, we continue to investigate the possible existence of wormhole geometries, where $Q$ is the non-metricity scalar. Recently, the non-metricity scalar and the corresponding field equations have been studied for some spherically symmetric configurations in [ Phys. Lett. B 821, 136612 (2021) and Phys. Rev. D 103, 124001 (2021) ]. One can note that field equations are different in these two studies. Following [Phys. Rev. D 103, 124001 (2021)], we systematically study the field equations for wormhole solutions and found the violation of null energy conditions in the throat neighborhood. More specifically, considering specific choices for the $f(Q)$ form and for constant redshift with different shape functions, we present a class of solutions for static and spherically symmetric wormholes. Our survey indicates that wormhole solutions could not exist for specific form function $f(Q)= Q+ αQ^2$. To summarize, exact wormhole models can be constructed with violation of the null energy condition throughout the spacetime while being $ρ\geq 0$ and vice versa.

Structural properties of charged compact stars with color-flavour-locked quarks matter

The observations of pulsars with masses close to 2$M_{\odot}$ have put strong constraints on the equation of state (EoS) of neutron-rich matter at supranuclear densities. Moreover, the exact internal composition of those objects is largely unknown to us. Aiming to reach the 2$M_{\odot}$ limit, here we investigate the impact of electric charge on properties of compact stars assuming that the charge distribution is proportional to the mass density. The study is carried out by solving the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) equation for a well-motivated exotic quark matter in the color-flavor-locked (CFL) phase of color superconductivity. The existence of the CFL phase may be the true ground state of hadronic matter with the possibility of the existence of a pure stable quark star (QS). Concerning the equation-of-state, we obtain structural properties of quark stars and compute the mass, the radius as well as the total electric charge of the star. We analyze the dependence of the physical properties of these QSs depending on the free parameters with special attention on mass-radius relation. We also briefly discuss the mass vs central mass density $(M-ε_c)$ relation for stability, the effect of electric charge and compactness. Finally, our results are compared with the recent observations data on mass-radius relationship.

Anisotropic Stars in 4D Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet Gravity

The current trend concerning dense matter physics at sufficiently high densities and low temperatures is expected to behave as a degenerate Fermi gas of quarks forming Cooper pairs, namely a color superconductor, in the core of compact objects. In this context, we study the anisotropy of quark stars (QSs) assuming the internal composition to be comprised of homogeneous, charge neutral 3-flavor interacting quark matter with $\mathcal{O}(m_s^4)$ corrections. Using the equation of state (EoS) with the Tolmann-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) structure equations, we perform numerical calculation for quark stars and determine the maximum mass-radius relation in the context of $4D$ Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet (EGB) gravity. In particular, we consider the effects of Gauss-Bonnet (GB) coupling constant on the diagrams related to mass-radius $(M-R)$ relation and the mass-central mass density $(M-ρ_c)$ relation of QSs. We pay particular attention to the influence of the anisotropy in the equilibrium and stability of strange stars. We also study the other properties of QSs related to compactness and binding energy. Interestingly, our result provides circumstantial evidence in favor of super-massive pulsars in $4D$ EGB gravity.

Electrically charged compact stars with an interacting quark equation of state

We investigate the properties of non-rotating, electrically charged strange quark stars in four-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell theory. For quark matter we adopt the well-motivated quantum chromodynamics (QCD) equation-of-state, while for the charge density we assume it is proportional to the mass density. The system of coupled structure equations are integrated numerically, and we compute the mass, the radius as well as the total electric charge of the stars. Moreover, we perform a detailed numerical study of the effect of electric charge using the interacting quark equation-of-state. We find that stars as heavy as two solar masses can be supported, and that the highest radius and highest mass of the stars increase with the charge density.

Anisotropic quark stars in $R^2$ gravity

In the present paper, we treat the problem of the existence of quark stars (QSs) for selected homogeneous and unpaired charge-neutral $3$-flavor interacting quark matter with $\mathcal{O}(m_s^4)$ corrections equations of state (EoS). Using the EoS combined with the Tolmann-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) structure equations, the properties of stars are explored by obtaining their mass-radius relations. All calculations are carried out within the framework of the $R$-squared gravity defined by $f(R) = R+a R^2$. Our main goal is to discuss the effect for a wide range of the $R$-squared gravity parameter, $a$, on the mass-radius and the mass-central mass density $(M-ε_c)$ relation of QSs. Furthermore, we investigate the dynamical stability condition for those stars, and we show that their dynamical stability depends on the anisotropic parameters $ B_{\perp}$ and $a_4^{\perp}$ coming from the respective EoS. In such a scenario our results provide circumstantial evidence in favor of super-massive pulsars.

Strange Quark Stars in 4D Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet Gravity

The existence of strange matter in compact stars may pose striking sequels of the various physical phenomena. As an alternative to neutron stars, a new class of compact stars called strange stars should exist if the strange matter hypothesis is true. In the present article, we investigate the possible construction of the strange stars in quark matter phases based on the MIT bag model. We consider scenarios in which strange stars have no crusts. Then we apply two types of equations of state to quantify the mass-radius diagram for static strange star models performing the numerical calculation to the modified Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) equations in the context of $4D$ Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity. It is worth noting that the GB term gives rise to a non-trivial contribution to the gravitational dynamics in the limit $D \to 4$. However, the claim that the resulting theory is of pure graviton was cast in doubt by several grounds. Thus, we begin our discussion with showing the regularized $4D$ EGB theory has an equivalent action as the novel $4D$ EGB in a spherically symmetric spacetime. We also study the effects of coupling constant $α$ on the physical properties of the constructed strange stars including the compactness and criterion of adiabatic stability. Finally, we compare our results to those obtained from the standard GR.

Quark Stars in 4D Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity with an Interacting Quark Equation of State

The detection of gravitational waves (GWs) from the binary neutron star (BNS) has opened a new window on the gravitational wave astronomy. With current sensitivities, detectable signals coming from compact objects like neutron stars turn out to be a crucial ingredient for probing their structure, composition, and evolution. Moreover, the astronomical observations on the pulsars and their mass-radius relations put important constraints on the dense matter equation of state (EoS). In this paper, we consider a homogeneous and unpaired charge-neutral $3$-flavor interacting quark matter with $\mathcal{O}(m_s^4)$ corrections that account for the moderately heavy strange quark instead of the naive MIT bag model. In this article, we perform a detailed analysis of strange quark star in the context of recently proposed $4D$ Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet (EGB) theory of gravity. However, this theory does not have standard four-dimensional field equations. Thus, we thoroughly show that the equivalence of the actions in the regularized $4D$ EGB theory and in the original one is satisfied for a spherically symmetric spacetime. We pay particular attention to the possible existence of massive neutron stars of mass compatible with $M \sim 2 M_{\odot}$. Our findings suggest that the fourth-order corrections parameter ($a_4$) of the QCD perturbation and coupling constant $α$ of the GB term play an important role in the mass-radius relation as well as the stability of the quark star. Finally, we compare the results with the well-measured limits of the pulsars and their mass and radius extracted from the spectra of several X-ray compact sources.

Traversable wormholes in $f(R)$-massive gravity

In this work, the study of traversable wormholes in $f(R)$-massive gravity with the function $f(R)=R+α_{1} R^{n}$, where $α_{1}$ and $n$ are arbitrary constants, is considered. We choose the modified shape function $b(r)$. We consider a spherically symmetric and static wormhole metric and derive field equations. Moreover, we visualize the wormhole geometry using embedding diagrams. Furthermore, we check the null, weak, dominant and strong energy conditions at the wormhole throat with a radius $r_{0}$ invoking three types of redshift functions, $Φ={\rm constant},γ_{1}/r,\,\log(1+γ_{2}/r)$ with $γ_{1}$ and $γ_{2}$ are arbitrary real constants. We also compute the volume integral quantifier to calculate the amount of the exotic matter near the constructed wormhole throat.

Thin-shell wormholes in de Rham-Gabadadze-Tolley massive gravity

In this work, we study the thin-shell wormholes in dRGT massive gravity. In order to joint two bulks of the spacetime geometry, we first derive junction conditions of the dRGT spacetime. This results the dynamics of the spherical thin-shell wormholes in the dRGT theory. We show that the massive graviton correction term of the dRGT theory in the Einstein equation is represented in terms of the effective anisotropic pressure fluid. However, if there is only this correction term, without invoking exotic fluids, we find that the thin-shell wormholes can not be stabilized. We then examine the stability conditions of the wormholes by introducing four existing models of the exotic fluids at the throat. In addition, we analyze the energy conditions for the thin-shell wormholes in the dRGT massive gravity by checking the null, weak, and strong conditions at the wormhole throat. We show that in general the classical energy conditions are violated by introducing all existing models of the exotic fluids. Moreover, we quantify the wormhole geometry by using the embedding diagrams to represent a thin-shell wormhole in the dRGT massive gravity.

Near-horizon quasinormal modes of charged scalar around a general spherically symmetric black hole

We study the quasinormal modes (QNMs) of charged scalar in the static spherically symmetric black hole background near the event and cosmological horizon. Starting with numerical analysis of the QNMs of black hole in the dRGT massive gravity, the mathematical tool called the Asymptotic Iteration Method~(AIM) is used to calculate the quasinormal frequencies. The parameters such as the mass and charge of the black hole, the cosmological constant, the coefficient of the linear term from massive gravity $γ$, and the mass of the scalar are varied to study the behavior of the QNMs. We found the tower pattern of the near-horizon quasinormal frequencies from the numerical results by AIM where the real parts depend only on product of the charge of the black hole and the scalar field and the imaginary parts depend only on the surface gravity. To confirm the numerical finding, we analytically determine the exact QNMs of the charged scalar near the horizons of any static spherically symmetric black hole background in the simple universal forms; $ω= \displaystyle{\frac{qQ}{r_h}} + i κ_h n$ and $ω= \displaystyle{\frac{qQ}{r_c}} + i |κ_c| n$ where $n$ is a non-positive integer and $κ_{h,c}$ is the surface gravity, for the event and cosmological horizon respectively. Extending our analysis, we also compute the four towers of the near-horizon QNMs that can reach the far region. The four kinds of QNMs converge to certain asymptotic values with equally spacing imaginary parts and the real parts proportional to $qQ/r_{h,c}$. These modes do not match with the all-region~(WKB) modes of the real background since they are originated from the linearly approximated metric.
