We show that any birationally rigid well-formed and quasismooth Fano 3-fold weighted complete intersection is K-stable.
We obtain inequalities for isolated $cD_n, cE_6, cE_7$ and $cE_8$ singularities, analogues of the $4μ^2/(n+1)$-inequality for isolated $cA_n$ singularity in \cite{KOP}. These inequalities are sharp. This enables us to prove the birational rigidity of certain families of Fano $3$-fold weighted hypersurfaces, which contain only terminal quotient singularities and one $cD_n$ singularity.
We settle the problem of K-stability of quasi-smooth Fano 3-fold hypersurfaces with Fano index 1 by providing lower bounds for their delta invariants. We use the method introduced by Abban and Zhuang for computing lower bounds of delta invariants on flags of hypersurfaces in the Fano 3-fold.
We show that any quasismooth Fano threefold weighted complete intersections of type $(12, 14)$ in $\mathbb{P} (1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 11)$ is birationally solid.
We generalize an intersection-theoretic local inequality of Fulton-Lazarsfeld to weighted blowups. As a consequence, we obtain the $4n^2/(k+1)$-inequality for isolated $cA_k$ singularities, an analogue of the $4 n^2$-inequality for smooth points. We use this to prove birational rigidity of many families of Fano 3-fold weighted complete intersections with terminal quotient singularities and isolated $cA_k$ singularities, including sextic double solids with $cA_1$ and ordinary $cA_2$ points.
We survey what is known about Fano threefold weighted complete intersections from the point of view of birational rigidity.
The $4 n^2$-inequality for smooth points plays an important role in the proofs of birational (super)rigidity. The main aim of this paper is to generalize such an inequality to terminal singular points of type $cA_1$, and obtain a $2 n^2$-inequality for $cA_1$ points. As applications, we prove birational (super)rigidity of sextic double solids, many other prime Fano 3-fold weighted complete intersections, and del Pezzo fibrations of degree $1$ over $\mathbb{P}^1$ satisfying the $K^2$-condition, all of which have at most terminal $cA_1$ singularities and terminal quotient singularities. These give first examples of birationally (super)rigid Fano 3-folds and del Pezzo fibrations admitting a $cA_1$ point which is not an ordinary double point.
A Fano variety of Picard number $1$ is said to be \textit{birationally solid} if it is not birational to a Mori fiber space over a positive dimensional base. In this paper we complete the classification of quasi-smooth birationally solid Fano $3$-fold weighted hypersurfaces.
We prove that the alpha invariant of a quasi-smooth Fano 3-fold weighted hypersurface of index $1$ is greater than or equal to $1/2$. Combining this with the result of Stibitz and Zhuang \cite{SZ19} on a relation between birational superrigidity and K-stability, we prove the K-stability of a birationally superrigid quasi-smooth Fano 3-fold weighted hypersurfaces of index $1$.
We prove that every smooth divisor in $\mathbb{P}^1\times\mathbb{P}^1\times\mathbb{P}^2$ of degree $(1,1,2)$ is K-stable.
We prove that a very general complex hypersurface of degree $n+1$ in $\mathbb{P}^{n+1}$ containing an $r$-plane with multiplicity $m$ is not stably rational for $n \ge 3$, $m, r > 0$ and $n \ge m+r$. We also investigate failure of stable rationality of a very general hypersurface of degree $n+1$ in $\mathbb{P}^{n+1}$ admitting several isolated ordinary double points.
We compute global log canonical thresholds of certain birationally bi-rigid Fano 3-folds embedded in weighted projective spaces as complete intersections of codimension 2 and prove that they admit an orbifold Kähler-Einstein metric and are K-stable. As an application, we give examples of super-rigid affine Fano 4-folds.
We determine birational superrigidity for a quasi-smooth prime Fano 3-fold of codimension 4 with no projection centers. In particular we prove birational superrigidity for Fano 3-folds of codimension 4 with no projection centers which are recently constructed by Coughlan and Ducat. We also pose some questions and a conjecture regarding the classification of birationally superrigid Fano 3-folds.
We give a sufficient condition for birational superrigidity of del Pezzo fibrations of degree $1$ with only $\frac{1}{2} (1,1,1)$ singular points, generalizing the so called $K^2$-condition. As an application, we also prove that a del Pezzo fibrations of degree $1$ with only $\frac{1}{2} (1,1,1)$ singular points embedded in a toric $\mathbb{P} (1,1,2,3)$-bundle over $\mathbb{P}^1$ is birationally superrigid if and only if it satisfies the $K$-condition.
We prove that a very general nonsingular conic bundle $X\rightarrow\mathbb{P}^{n-1}$ embedded in a projective vector bundle of rank $3$ over $\mathbb{P}^{n-1}$ is not stably rational if the anti-canonical divisor of $X$ is not ample and $n\geq 3$.
We prove the failure of stable rationality for many smooth well formed weighted hypersurfaces of dimension at least 3. It is in particular proved that a very general smooth well formed Fano weighted hypersurface of index one is not stably rational.
We determine the rationality of very general quasismooth Fano 3-fold weighted hypersurfaces completely and determine the stable rationality of them except for cubic 3-folds. More precisely we prove that (i) very general Fano 3-fold weighted hypersurfaces of index 1 or 2 are not stably rational except possibly for the cubic threefolds, (ii) among the 27 families of Fano 3-fold weighted hypersurfaces of index greater than 2, very general members of specific 7 families are not stably rational and the remaining 20 families consists of rational varieties.
The main aim of this article is to show that a very general 3-dimensional del Pezzo fibration of degree 1,2,3 is not stably rational except for a del Pezzo fibration of degree 3 belonging to explicitly described 2 families. Higher dimensional generalizations are also discussed and we prove that a very general del Pezzo fibration of degree 1,2,3 defined over the projective space is not stably rational provided that the anticanonical divisor is not ample.
