Competitive Robust Dynamic Pricing in Continuous Time with Fixed Inventories

The problem of robust dynamic pricing of an abstract commodity, whose inventory is specified at an initial time but never subsequently replenished, originally studied by Perakis and Sood (2006) in discrete time, is considered from the perspective of continuous time. We use a multiplicative demand function to model the uncertain demand, and develop a robust counterpart to replace the uncertain demand constraint. The sellers' robust best response problem yields a generalized Nash equilibrium problem, which can be formulated as an equivalent, continuous-time quasi-variational inequality. We demonstrate that, for appropriate regularity conditions, a generalized robust Nash equilibrium exists. We show that the quasi-variational inequality may be replaced by an equivalent variational inequality, and use a fixed-point algorithm to solve the variational inequality. We also demonstrate how explicit time lags associated with price updating in real-world decision environments, as well as specific pricing decision rules, may be introduced to create a dual time scale formulation and the associated solutions computed. We illustrate, via numerical examples, how robust pricing based on our DPFI formulation offers generally superior and never inferior worst case performance compared to nominal pricing.

Unitarity and Entropy Change in Exclusive Quark Combination Models

Entropy change in exclusive quark combination models is not an isolated problem. Contrary to adding and tuning some parameters to the relevant model(s) to fix the entropy, we show that it relates to the most general principles. Unitarity of the combination model is demonstrated to play the central rôle that guarantees the non-decrease of the entropy in the exclusive combination process.

An Investigation of Hadronization Mechanism at $Z^{0}$ Factory

We briefly review the hadronization pictures adopted in the LUND String Fragmentation Model(LSFM), Webber Cluster Fragmentation Model(WCFM) and Quark Combination Model(QCM), respectively. Predictions of hadron multiplicity, baryon to meson ratios and baryon-antibaryon flavor correlations, especially related to heavy hadrons at $Z^0$ factory obtained by LSFM and QCM are reported.

Exotic hadron production in quark combination model

The philosophy on production of exotic hadrons (multi-quark states) in the framework of quark combination model is investigated, taking $f_0(980)$ as an example. The production rate and $p_T$ spectra of $f_0(980)$ considered as $(s\bar s)$ or $(s\bar q\bar s q)$ respectively, are calculated and compared in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200GeV$. The unitarity of various combination models, when open for exotic hadron production, is addressed.

Charm hadron production in relativistic heavy ion collisions within a quark combination model

We investigate the charm hadron production in relativistic heavy-ion collisions with the quark combination model. The $p_{T}$ dependencies of the charm baryon to meson ratios such as $\frac{Λ_{c}+\barΛ_{c}}{D^{0}+\bar{D}^{0}}$, $\frac{Λ_{c}+\barΛ_{c}}{D^{+}+D^{-}}$ and $\frac{Λ_{c}+\barΛ_{c}}{D_{s}^{+}+D_{s}^{-}}$ in Au+Au collisions at 200 GeV are obtained. The charm baryon enhancement in the intermediate $p_{T}$ range is very prominent, which further, together with the strangeness enhancement, affect the charm hadron ratios and lead to a $\sim17%$ larger charm cross-section given by PHENIX. The dependencies of the charm hadron ratios on energy, centrality, and other parameters are also investigated. Predictions of the charm hadron ratios for the upgrade of RHIC and for LHC are presented.

Charged-particle rapidity density in Au+Au collisions in a quark combination model

Rapidity/seudorapidity densities for charged particles and their centrality, rapidity and energy dependence in Au+Au collisions at RHIC are studied in a quark combination model. Using a Gaussian-type rapidity distribution for constituent quarks as a result of Landau hydrodynamic evolution, the data at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=130, 200$ GeV at various centralities in full pseudorapidity range are well described, and the charged particle multiplicity are reproduced as functions of the number of participants. The energy dependence of the shape of the $dN_{ch}/dη$ distribution is also described at various collision energies $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200, 130, 62.4$ GeV in central collisions with same value of parameters except 19.6 GeV. The calculated rapidity distributions and yields for the charged pions and kaons in central Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200$ GeV are compared with experimental data of the BRAHMS Collaboration.

A study of elliptic flows in a quark combination model

We carry out a detail study of elliptic flows in Au-Au collisions at 200 AGeV in a quark combination model. We find that elliptic flow data for a variety of hadrons can be well reproduced except pions if constituent quarks with equal parallel transverse momenta combine into initially produced hadrons. In a combination mechanism where initial hadrons are formed by quarks with unequal parallel transverse momenta, theoretical predictions agree with data for all available hadrons including pions. The mass hierarchy at low transverse momenta in elliptic flows can be understood in the same quark combination mechanism as in the mediate range of transverse momenta.
