K-stability of Fano weighted hypersurfaces via plt flags and convex geometry

We develop a framework to study the K-stability of weighted Fano hypersurfaces based on a combination of birational and convex-geometric techniques. As an application, we prove that all quasi-smooth weighted Fano hypersurfaces of index 1 with at most two weights greater than 1 are K-stable. We also construct several examples of K-unstable quasi-smooth weighted Fano hypersurfaces of low indices. To prove these results, we establish lower bounds for stability thresholds using the method of Abban-Zhuang, which reduces the problem to lower-dimensional cases. A key feature of our approach is the use of plt flags that are not necessarily admissible.

Delta invariants of weighted hypersurfaces

We give a lower bound for the delta invariant of the fundamental divisor of a quasi-smooth weighted hypersurface. As a consequence, we prove K-stability of a large class of quasi-smooth Fano hypersurfaces of index 1 and of all smooth Fano weighted hypersurfaces of index 1 and 2. The proofs are based on the Abban--Zhuang method and on the study of linear systems on flags of weighted hypersurfaces.

On Hodge structures of compact complex manifolds with semistable degenerations

Compact K\"{a}hler manifolds satisfy several nice Hodge-theoretic properties such as the Hodge symmetry, the Hard Lefschetz property and the Hodge-Riemann bilinear relations, etc. In this note, we investigate when such nice properties hold on compact complex manifolds with semistable degenerations. For compact complex manifolds which can be obtained as smoothings of SNC varieties without triple intersection locus, we show the Hodge symmetry when the monodromy logarithm induces isomorphisms on the associated graded pieces of the weight filtrations of the limiting mixed Hodge structures. We also show the Hodge-Riemann relations on H^3 of compact complex 3-folds with such semistable degenerations under some conditions.

Construction of non-Kähler Calabi-Yau manifolds by log deformations

We survey recent construction of non-Kähler Calabi-Yau manifolds by smoothing SNC varieties obtained by non-trivial isomorphisms of strict Calabi-Yau manifolds. We also give a new example by smoothing an SNC 3-fold which are constructed from automorphisms of an abelian surface.

Infinitely many families of Sasaki-Einstein metrics on spheres

We show that there exist infinitely many families of Sasaki-Einstein metrics on every odd-dimensional standard sphere of dimension at least $5$. We also show that the same result is true for all odd-dimensional exotic spheres that bound parallelizable manifolds.

On K-stability of Fano weighted hypersurfaces

Let $X \subset \mathbb P(a_0,\ldots,a_n)$ be a quasi-smooth weighted Fano hypersurface of degree $d$ and index $I_X$ such that $a_i |d$ for all $i$, with $a_0 \le \ldots \le a_n$. If $I_X=1$, we show that, under a suitable condition, the $\alpha$-invariant of $X$ is greater than or equal to $\dim X/(\dim X+1)$ and $X$ is K-stable. This can be applied in particular to any $X$ as above such that $\dim X \le 3$. If $X$ is general and $I_X < \dim X$, then we show that $X$ is K-stable. We also give a sufficient condition for the finiteness of automorphism groups of quasi-smooth Fano weighted complete intersections.

Smoothing cones over K3 surfaces

We prove that the affine cone over a general primitively polarised K3 surface of genus g is smoothable if and only if g\le 10 or g=12. We also give several examples of singularities with special behaviour, such as surfaces whose affine cone is smoothable even though the projective cone is not.

Effective non-vanishing for Fano weighted complete intersections

We show that Ambro-Kawamata's non-vanishing conjecture holds true for a quasi-smooth WCI X which is Fano or Calabi-Yau, i.e. we prove that, if H is an ample Cartier divisor on X, then |H| is not empty. If X is smooth, we further show that the general element of |H| is smooth. We then verify Ambro-Kawamata's conjecture for any quasi-smooth weighted hypersurface. We also verify Fujita's freeness conjecture for a Gorenstein quasi-smooth weighted hypersurface. For the proofs, we introduce the arithmetic notion of regular pairs and enlighten some interesting connection with the Frobenius coin problem.

Deformations of weak $\mathbb{Q}$-Fano 3-folds

We prove that a weak $\mathbb{Q}$-Fano $3$-fold with terminal singularities has unobstructed deformations. By using this result and computing some invariants of a terminal singularity, we provide two results on global deformation of a weak $\mathbb{Q}$-Fano $3$-fold. We also treat a stacky proof of the unobstructedness of deformations of a $\mathbb{Q}$-Fano $3$-fold.

Deforming elephants of Q-Fano threefolds

We study deformations of a pair of a $\mathbb{Q}$-Fano $3$-fold $X$ with only terminal singularities and its elephant $D \in |{-}K_X|$. We prove that, if there exists $D \in |{-}K_X|$ with only isolated singularities, the pair $(X,D)$ can be deformed to a pair of a $\mathbb{Q}$-Fano $3$-fold with only quotient singularities and a Du Val elephant. When there are only non-normal elephants, we reduce the existence problem of such a deformation to a local problem around the singular locus of the elephant. We also give several examples of $\mathbb{Q}$-Fano $3$-folds without Du Val elephants.

On deformations of Q-Fano threefolds

We study the deformation theory of a Q-Fano 3-fold with only terminal singularities. First, we show that the Kuranishi space of a Q-Fano 3-fold is smooth. Second, we show that every Q-Fano 3-fold with only "ordinary" terminal singularities is Q-smoothable, that is, it can be deformed to a Q-Fano 3-fold with only quotient singularities. Finally, we prove Q-smoothability of a Q-Fano 3-fold assuming the existence of a Du Val anticanonical element. As an application, we get the genus bound for primary Q-Fano 3-folds with Du Val anticanonical elements.

On deformations of Q-Fano threefolds II

We investigate some coboundary map associated to a $3$-dimensional terminal singularity which is important in the study of deformations of singular $3$-folds. We prove that this map vanishes only for quotient singularities and a $A_{1,2}/4$-singularity, that is, a terminal singularity analytically isomorphic to a $\mathbb{Z}_4$-quotient of the singularity $ (x^2+y^2 +z^3+u^2=0)$. As an application, we prove that a $\mathbb{Q}$-Fano $3$-fold with terminal singularities can be deformed to one with only quotient singularities and $A_{1,2}/4$-singularities. We also treat the $\mathbb{Q}$-smoothability problem on $\mathbb{Q}$-Calabi--Yau $3$-folds.

Seshadri constants on rational surfaces with anticanonical pencils

We study a Seshadri constant at a general point on a rational surface whose anticanonical linear system contains a pencil. First, we describe a Seshadri constant of an ample line bundle on such a rational surface explicitly by the numerical data of the ample line bundle. Secondly, we classify log del Pezzo surfaces which are special in terms of the Seshadri constants of the anticanonical divisors when the anticanonical degree is between 4 and 9.
