HaloMark: A Spectral Threshold for Embedding-Vector Watermarking under C2PA

Foundation-model embeddings are now a primary data asset, but the content-provenance machinery built for images and audio does not transfer to them. C2PA binds to an asset with a stable bit-level or perceptual identity; embeddings have neither, since quantisation, projection, fine-tuning, and windowed averaging reshape them in normal use and break any fixed hash. We present HaloMark, a watermark for embedding vectors cryptographically bound to a C2PA manifest. It composes four standard primitives -- a block-diagonal orthogonal rotation, public whitening, an input-dependent LSH commitment, and a per-vector nonce -- around one protocol change: the producer signs the LSH commitment c into the C2PA sidecar, and the verifier reads c from the manifest instead of recomputing it. Recomputing is fragile under whitening, which flips the commitment bucket on 62% of inputs at cos = 0.96; reading the signed c reduces the verifier's score to T = T_null + beta(A)*epsilon, so security turns on a single scalar beta, which we bound rigorously for linear and non-adaptive attackers and characterise empirically for the adaptive case. We evaluate against an adversary holding polynomially many clean/watermarked pairs under one key with full sidecar visibility, across eight baselines and ten adaptive attackers including denoising-autoencoder removal. The eleven encoders separate at an empirical threshold eff_rank(Sigma)/d ~= 0.19: above it, detection AUROC stays at 0.98 or higher across every in-budget attack on the three encoders we sweep in full, and at 0.965 or higher under single-seed DAE removal on the rest; below it every variant we tested fails. Why the threshold is dimension-uniform is left open. Deployed as a Qdrant admission filter, the verifier runs at 284 us and 24 bytes of sidecar per vector, validated end-to-end against three C2PA reference-SDK bindings.

SMSR: Certified Defence Against Runtime Memory Poisoning in Persistent LLM Agent Systems

Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) agents increasingly run with persistent memory that accumulates across user sessions. This creates a new attack surface: an adversary interacting only through normal channels can inject crafted memories that, once retrieved, steer the agent's responses for future users, without touching model weights or code. We call this Multi-Session Memory Poisoning (MSMP) and show that no existing defence certifies against it; static-corpus defences (RobustRAG, ReliabilityRAG) assume a fixed knowledge base, and heuristic filters are bypassed by fluent enterprise-style text. We present Signed Memory with Smoothed Retrieval (SMSR), the first defence with a certified robustness bound for this setting. Component 1 adds HMAC-SHA256 provenance at write time, blocking unsigned injection. Component 2 applies randomised memory ablation with verdict-based majority voting at query time, bounding the influence of authenticated adversaries. We prove that no provenance-free retrieval-time filter can certify against adaptive injection, derive a hypergeometric certificate for Component 2, and formalise the Consistent Minority Effect, whereby a consistent adversarial answer wins string-based voting as a numerical minority while verdict-based voting removes it. Across 15 enterprise scenarios (3,150 repeated trials), Component 1 cuts attack success from 93-100% to 0% for all unsigned variants. For an authenticated adversary with a single injection, Component 2 holds success to 8.0% (95% CI [5.8, 10.9], n=450), below the certified worst case. In an end-to-end query-only attack where the agent itself writes the poison rather than it being pre-seeded, SMSR reduces success from 65.3% to 5.3% (n=150, non-overlapping CIs) on a live agent stack. Clean-query utility is 90% (Component 1) and 85% (combined).

IVF-TQ: Calibration-Free Streaming Vector Search via a Codebook-Free Residual Layer

Approximate nearest neighbor (ANN) indexes deployed against streaming corpora silently lose recall over weeks. The standard diagnosis is distribution shift, but under shuffled-i.i.d. ingestion -- no shift at all -- product quantization still degrades -3.8pp at sub-matched bit budgets. The dominant production compression methods (PQ, OPQ, ScaNN) all fit a codebook to an initial sample and reuse it as the database grows by orders of magnitude. This paper presents IVF-TQ, an inverted-file index whose residual compression layer is data-independent: a fixed random rotation followed by a precomputed Lloyd-Max scalar quantizer parameterised only by the bit width b and dimension d. Only the IVF coarse k-means partition is trained. A uniform-over-sphere inner-product error bound depending only on (b, d, delta) provides a structural guarantee no learned-codebook method admits. The same codebook-free design enables an IVF-amplification effect that closes the gap to Extended RaBitQ to within statistical noise (+17.7pp over flat TQ at matched bit budget), and an Adaptive variant that refreshes the partition without touching the compression layer. Across nine controlled cells (three 10M datasets, three PQ memory regimes, three seeds), per-batch PQ codebook retraining never recovers the streaming gap; IVF-PQ streaming stability requires per-dataset bit-budget tuning, while IVF-TQ holds at one fixed (b, d) configuration on all three datasets with Delta in [-0.80, +0.56]pp. The contribution is operational: no codebook to train, no per-dataset bit-budget tuning, no retraining cycle that ever closes the gap.

INDIC DIALECT: A Multi Task Benchmark to Evaluate and Translate in Indian Language Dialects

Recent NLP advances focus primarily on standardized languages, leaving most low-resource dialects under-served especially in Indian scenarios. In India, the issue is particularly important: despite Hindi being the third most spoken language globally (over 600 million speakers), its numerous dialects remain underrepresented. The situation is similar for Odia, which has around 45 million speakers. While some datasets exist which contain standard Hindi and Odia languages, their regional dialects have almost no web presence. We introduce INDIC-DIALECT, a human-curated parallel corpus of 13k sentence pairs spanning 11 dialects and 2 languages: Hindi and Odia. Using this corpus, we construct a multi-task benchmark with three tasks: dialect classification, multiple-choice question (MCQ) answering, and machine translation (MT). Our experiments show that LLMs like GPT-4o and Gemini 2.5 perform poorly on the classification task. While fine-tuned transformer based models pretrained on Indian languages substantially improve performance e.g., improving F1 from 19.6\% to 89.8\% on dialect classification. For dialect to language translation, we find that hybrid AI model achieves highest BLEU score of 61.32 compared to the baseline score of 23.36. Interestingly, due to complexity in generating dialect sentences, we observe that for language to dialect translation the ``rule-based followed by AI" approach achieves best BLEU score of 48.44 compared to the baseline score of 27.59. INDIC-DIALECT thus is a new benchmark for dialect-aware Indic NLP, and we plan to release it as open source to support further work on low-resource Indian dialects.

Chern-Simons propagators in AdS$_3$

We introduce parity-odd spin-1 harmonic functions in AdS$_3$ and study their properties. We demonstrate that such parity-odd harmonics are related to their parity-even counterparts through the action of a `Chern-Simons operator', which we present as a novelty in this paper. This relation leads to the construction of simultaneous eigen-functions of the Laplacian and the Chern-Simons operators. Subsequently, these harmonic functions are employed to construct propagators in pure abelian Chern-Simons theory as well as Maxwell-Chern-Simons theory in a covariant gauge. We demonstrate the consistency of the Chern-Simons propagator with the expected two-point function of the boundary currents. Our results are built upon the embedding formalism, which we modify suitably to incorporate parity-odd structures. This formalism also readily helps us write down parity odd structures for the propagators of higher-spin fields. Finally, we construct a split representation for the parity-odd harmonic functions, which may be useful to compute Witten diagrams with loops. Our results are expected to be useful in perturbative studies of parity violating QFTs on AdS$_3$.

Search Me Knot, Render Me Knot: Embedding Search and Differentiable Rendering of Knots in 3D

We introduce the problem of knot-based inverse perceptual art. Given multiple target images and their corresponding viewing configurations, the objective is to find a 3D knot-based tubular structure whose appearance resembles the target images when viewed from the specified viewing configurations. To solve this problem, we first design a differentiable rendering algorithm for rendering tubular knots embedded in 3D for arbitrary perspective camera configurations. Utilizing this differentiable rendering algorithm, we search over the space of knot configurations to find the ideal knot embedding. We represent the knot embeddings via homeomorphisms of the desired template knot, where the homeomorphisms are parametrized by the weights of an invertible neural network. Our approach is fully differentiable, making it possible to find the ideal 3D tubular structure for the desired perceptual art using gradient-based optimization. We propose several loss functions that impose additional physical constraints, enforcing that the tube is free of self-intersection, lies within a predefined region in space, satisfies the physical bending limits of the tube material and the material cost is within a specified budget. We demonstrate through results that our knot representation is highly expressive and gives impressive results even for challenging target images in both single view as well as multiple view constraints. Through extensive ablation study we show that each of the proposed loss function is effective in ensuring physical realizability. We construct a real world 3D-printed object to demonstrate the practical utility of our approach. To the best of our knowledge, we are the first to propose a fully differentiable optimization framework for knot-based inverse perceptual art.

Teaching Computer Vision for Ecology

Computer vision can accelerate ecology research by automating the analysis of raw imagery from sensors like camera traps, drones, and satellites. However, computer vision is an emerging discipline that is rarely taught to ecologists. This work discusses our experience teaching a diverse group of ecologists to prototype and evaluate computer vision systems in the context of an intensive hands-on summer workshop. We explain the workshop structure, discuss common challenges, and propose best practices. This document is intended for computer scientists who teach computer vision across disciplines, but it may also be useful to ecologists or other domain experts who are learning to use computer vision themselves.

Epidemic Control Modeling using Parsimonious Models and Markov Decision Processes

Many countries have experienced at least two waves of the COVID-19 pandemic. The second wave is far more dangerous as distinct strains appear more harmful to human health, but it stems from the complacency about the first wave. This paper introduces a parsimonious yet representative stochastic epidemic model that simulates the uncertain spread of the disease regardless of the latency and recovery time distributions. We also propose a Markov decision process to seek an optimal trade-off between the usage of the healthcare system and the economic costs of an epidemic. We apply the model to COVID-19 data from New Delhi, India and simulate the epidemic spread with different policy review times. The results show that the optimal policy acts swiftly to curb the epidemic in the first wave, thus avoiding the collapse of the healthcare system and the future costs of posterior outbreaks. An analysis of the recent collapse of the healthcare system of India during the second COVID-19 wave suggests that many lives could have been preserved if swift mitigation was promoted after the first wave.

The Hilbert Space of large $N$ Chern-Simons matter theories

We demonstrate that the known expressions for the thermal partition function of large $N$ Chern-Simons matter theories admit a simple Hilbert space interpretation as the partition function of an associated ungauged large $N$ matter theory with one additional condition: the Fock space of this associated theory is projected down to the subspace of its \emph{quantum} singlets i.e.~singlets under the Gauss law for Chern-Simons gauge theory. Via the Chern-Simons / WZW correspondence, the space of quantum singlets are equivalent to the space of WZW conformal blocks. One step in our demonstration involves recasting the Verlinde formula for the dimension of the space of conformal blocks in $SU(N)_k$ and $U(N)_{k,k'}$ WZW theories into a simple and physically transparent form, which we also rederive by evaluating the partition function and superconformal index of pure Chern-Simons theory in the presence of Wilson lines. A particular consequence of the projection of the Fock space of Chern-Simons matter theories to quantum (or WZW) singlets is the `Bosonic Exclusion Principle': the number of bosons occupying any single particle state is bounded above by the Chern-Simons level. The quantum singlet condition (unlike its Yang-Mills Gauss Law counterpart) has a nontrivial impact on thermodynamics even in the infinite volume limit. In this limit the projected Fock space partition function reduces to a product of partition functions, one for each single particle state. These single particle state partition functions are $q$-deformations of their free boson and free fermion counterparts and interpolate between these two special cases. We also propose a formula for the large $N$ partition function that is valid for arbitrary finite volume of the spatial $S^2$ and not only at large volume.

Correlation functions in ${\cal N}=2$ Supersymmetric vector matter Chern-Simons theory

We compute the two, three point function of the opearators in the spin zero multiplet of ${\cal N}=2$ Supersymmetric vector matter Chern-Simons theory at large $N$ and at all orders of 't Hooft coupling by solving the Schwinger-Dyson equation. Schwinger-Dyson method to compute four point function becomes extremely complicated and hence we use bootstrap method to solve for four point function of scaler operator $J_0^{f}=\barψψ$ and $J_0^{b}=\barϕϕ$. Interestingly, due to the fact that $\langle J_0^{f}J_0^{f}J_0^{b} \rangle$ is a contact term, the four point function of $ J_0^{f}$ operator looks like that of free theory up to overall coupling constant dependent factors and up to some bulk AdS contact terms. On the other hand the $J_0^{b}$ four-point function receives an additional contribution compared to the free theory expression due to the $J_0^{f}$ exchange. Interestingly, double discontinuity of this single trace operator $J_0^{f}$ vanishes and hence it only contributes to AdS-contact term.

Dual Superconformal Symmetry of ${\cal N}=2$ Chern-Simons theory with Fundamental Matter at Large $N$

Dual conformal symmetry and Yangian symmetry are symmetries of amplitudes that have aided the study of scattering amplitudes in highly supersymmetric theories like ${\cal N}=4$ SYM and ABJM. However, in general such symmetries are absent from the theories with lesser or no supersymmetry. In this paper, we show that the tree level $2\to 2$ scattering amplitude in the 3d ${\cal N}=2$ Chern-Simons theory coupled to a fundamental chiral multiplet is dual superconformal invariant. In the 't Hooft large $N$ limit, the $2\to 2$ scattering amplitude in this theory has been shown to be tree-level exact in non-anyonic channels, while having only an overall multiplicative coupling dependent renormalisation in the anyonic channel. Therefore, the dual superconformal symmetry that we demonstrate in this paper is all loop exact. This is unlike the previously studied highly supersymmetric theories where dual superconformal symmetry is anomalous at loop levels. Furthermore, we reverse the argument to study the extent to which dual superconformal invariance fixes the scattering amplitude in an ${\cal N}=2$ supersymmetric theory. We demonstrate that requiring the dual superconformal invariance completely fixes the momentum dependence of the $2\to2$ amplitude, while the coupling constant dependence remain unfixed. Further, we use a combination of parity invariance, unitarity and self-duality of the amplitude to constrain the coupling dependence of scattering amplitude.

Note on gauge and gravitational anomalies of discrete $Z_N$ symmetries

In this note, we discuss the consistency conditions which a discrete $Z_N$ symmetry should satisfy in order that it is not violated by gauge and gravitational instantons. As examples, we enlist all the $Z_N$ ${\cal R}$-symmetries as well as non-${\cal R}$ $Z_N$ symmetries (N=2,3,4) in the minimally supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) that are free from gauge and gravitational anomalies. We show that there exists non-anomalous discrete symmetries that forbid Baryon number violation up to dimension 6 level (in superspace). We also observe that there exists no non-anomalous $Z_3$ ${\cal R}$-symmetry in the MSSM. Furthermore, we point out that in a theory with one Majorana spin 3/2 gravitino, a large class of $Z_4$ ${\cal R}$-symmetries are violated in the presence of Eguchi-Hanson (EH) gravitational instanton. This is also in general true for higher $Z_N$ ${\cal R}$-symmetries. We also notice that in 4 dimensional ${\cal N}=1$ supergravity, the global $U(1)$ ${\cal R}$-symmetry is always violated by the EH instanton irrespective of the matter content of the theory.

What are the visual features underlying human versus machine vision?

Although Deep Convolutional Networks (DCNs) are approaching the accuracy of human observers at object recognition, it is unknown whether they leverage similar visual representations to achieve this performance. To address this, we introduce Clicktionary, a web-based game for identifying visual features used by human observers during object recognition. Importance maps derived from the game are consistent across participants and uncorrelated with image saliency measures. These results suggest that Clicktionary identifies image regions that are meaningful and diagnostic for object recognition but different than those driving eye movements. Surprisingly, Clicktionary importance maps are only weakly correlated with relevance maps derived from DCNs trained for object recognition. Our study demonstrates that the narrowing gap between the object recognition accuracy of human observers and DCNs obscures distinct visual strategies used by each to achieve this performance.

The 750 GeV diphoton resonance as an sgoldstino: a reappraisal

Among the various explanations of the possible 750 GeV diphoton resonance, the possibility of it being an sgoldstino is an attractive one, as it is related to the spontaneous breaking of global supersymmetry. We discuss this possibility in this paper and point out the various theoretical issues associated with it. In particular, we indicate the difficulties of this explanation in realistic models of gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking.

On monopole operators in supersymmetric Chern-Simons-matter theories

We discuss monopole operators in $U(N_c)$ Chern-Simons-matter theories in three space-time dimensions. We mention an apparent problem in the matching of such operators in dualities between non-supersymmetric theories, and suggest a possible resolution. A similar apparent problem exists in the mapping of chiral monopole operators in theories with ${\cal N}=2$ supersymmetry. We show that in many theories the lowest naive chiral monopole operator is actually not chiral, and we find the lowest monopole operator that is actually chiral in these theories. It turns out that there are several different forms of this operator, depending on the number of colors, the number of flavours, and the Chern-Simons level. Since we use the supersymmetric index to find the lowest chiral monopoles, our results for these monopoles are guaranteed to be invariant under the dualities in supersymmetric theories. The theories we discuss are believed to be dual in the 't~Hooft large $N_c$ limit to classical high-spin gravity theories. We argue that these theories (supersymmetric or not) should not have classical solutions charged under the $U(1)$ gauge field in the high-spin multiplet.

Superspace formulation and correlation functions of 3d superconformal field theories

We study $3d$ SCFTs in the superspace formalism and discuss superfields and on-shell higher spin current multiplets in free $3d$ SCFTs with $\mathcal{N}= 1,2,3,4$ and $6$ superconformal symmetry. For $\mathcal{N}=1$ 3d SCFTs we determine the superconformal invariants in superspace needed for constructing 3-point functions of higher spin operators, find the non-linear relations between the invariants and consequently write down all the independent invariant structures, both parity even and odd, for various 3-point functions of higher spin operators.

Phases of large $N$ vector Chern-Simons theories on $S^2 \times S^1$

We study the thermal partition function of level $k$ U(N) Chern-Simons theories on $S^2$ interacting with matter in the fundamental representation. We work in the 't Hooft limit, $N,k\to\infty$, with $λ= N/k$ and $\frac{T^2 V_{2}}{N}$ held fixed where $T$ is the temperature and $V_{2}$ the volume of the sphere. An effective action proposed in arXiv:1211.4843 relates the partition function to the expectation value of a `potential' function of the $S^1$ holonomy in pure Chern-Simons theory; in several examples we compute the holonomy potential as a function of $λ$. We use level rank duality of pure Chern-Simons theory to demonstrate the equality of thermal partition functions of previously conjectured dual pairs of theories as a function of the temperature. We reduce the partition function to a matrix integral over holonomies. The summation over flux sectors quantizes the eigenvalues of this matrix in units of ${2π\over k}$ and the eigenvalue density of the holonomy matrix is bounded from above by $\frac{1}{2 πλ}$. The corresponding matrix integrals generically undergo two phase transitions as a function of temperature. For several Chern-Simons matter theories we are able to exactly solve the relevant matrix models in the low temperature phase, and determine the phase transition temperature as a function of $λ$. At low temperatures our partition function smoothly matches onto the $N$ and $λ$ independent free energy of a gas of non renormalized multi trace operators. We also find an exact solution to a simple toy matrix model; the large $N$ Gross-Witten-Wadia matrix integral subject to an upper bound on eigenvalue density.

ABJ Triality: from Higher Spin Fields to Strings

We demonstrate that a supersymmetric and parity violating version of Vasiliev's higher spin gauge theory in AdS$_4$ admits boundary conditions that preserve ${\cal N}=0,1,2,3,4$ or 6 supersymmetries. In particular, we argue that the Vasiliev theory with U(M) Chan-Paton and ${\cal N}=6$ boundary condition is holographically dual to the 2+1 dimensional $U(N)_k\times U(M)_{-k}$ ABJ theory in the limit of large $N,k$ and finite $M$. In this system all bulk higher spin fields transform in the adjoint of the U(M) gauge group, whose bulk t'Hooft coupling is $\frac{M}{N}$. Analysis of boundary conditions in Vasiliev theory allows us to determine exact relations between the parity breaking phase of Vasiliev theory and the coefficients of two and three point functions in Chern-Simons vector models at large $N$. Our picture suggests that the supersymmetric Vasiliev theory can be obtained as a limit of type IIA string theory in AdS$_4\times \mathbb{CP}^3$, and that the non-Abelian Vasiliev theory at strong bulk 't Hooft coupling smoothly turn into a string field theory. The fundamental string is a singlet bound state of Vasiliev's higher spin particles held together by U(M) gauge interactions. This is illustrated by the thermal partition function of free ABJ theory on a two sphere at large $M$ and $N$ even in the analytically tractable free limit. In this system the traces or strings of the low temperature phase break up into their Vasiliev particulate constituents at a U(M) deconfinement phase transition of order unity. At a higher temperature of order $T=\sqrt{\frac{N}{M}}$ Vasiliev's higher spin fields themselves break up into more elementary constituents at a U(N) deconfinement temperature, in a process described in the bulk as black hole nucleation.
