Schur function identities arising from the basic representation of $A^{(2)}_{2}$

A Lie theoretic interpretation is given for some formulas of Schur functions and Schur $Q$-functions. Two realizations of the basic representation of the Lie algebra $A^{(2)}_2$ are considered; one is on the fermionic Fock space and the other is on the bosonic polynomial space. Via the boson-fermion correspondence, simple relations of the vacuum expectation values of fermions turn out to be algebraic relations of Schur functions.

Mixed expansion formula for the rectangular Schur functions and the affine Lie algebra A_1^(1)

Formulas are obtained that express the Schur S-functions indexed by Young diagrams of rectangular shape as linear combinations of "mixed" products of Schur's S- and Q-functions. The proof is achieved by using representations of the affine Lie algebra of type A_1^{(1)}. A realization of the basic representation that is of ``D_2^{(2)}''-type plays the central role.

On Reduced Q-Functions

Schur's $Q$-functions with reduced variables are discussed by employing a combinatorics of strict partitions. They are called reduced $Q$-functions. We give a description of the linear relations among reduced $Q$-functions.

Reduced Schur Functions and the Littlewood-Richardson Coefficients

The reduced Schur functions are studied. Their relations to the basic representation of $A^(1)_{r-1}$ and modular representations of the symmetric groups are clarified. Littlewood-Richardson coefficients appear in the linear relations among reduced Schur functions.

Weight Vectors of the Basic A_1^(1)-Module and the Littlewood-Richardson Rule

The basic representation of $\A$ is studied. The weight vectors are represented in terms of Schur functions. A suitable base of any weight space is given. Littlewood-Richardson rule appears in the linear relations among weight vectors.

Basic Representations of A_{2l}^(2) and D_{l+1}^(2) and the Polynomial Solutions to the Reduced BKP Hierarchies

Basic representations of A_{2l}^(2) and D_{l+1}^(2) are studied. The weight vectors are represented in terms of Schur's $Q$-functions. The method to get the polynomial solutions to the reduced BKP hierarchies is shown to be equivalent to a certain rule in Maya game.
