Superconductivity in monolayer FeSe enhanced by quantum geometry

We formulate the superfluid weight in unconventional superconductors with $\bm k$-dependent Cooper pair potentials based on the geometric properties of Bloch electrons. We apply the formula to a model of the monolayer FeSe obtained by the first-principles calculation. Our numerical calculations point to a significant enhancement of the Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless transition temperature due to the geometric contribution to the superfluid weight, which is not included in the Fermi liquid theory. The $\bm k$-dependence of the gap function also stabilizes the superconducting state. Our results reveal that the geometric properties of Bloch electrons play an essential role in superconducting materials and pave the way for clarifying hidden aspects of superconductivity from the viewpoint of quantum geometry.

Singularities of tangent surfaces to generic space curves

We give the complete solution to the local diffeomorphism classification problem of generic singularities which appear in tangent surfaces, in as wider situations as possible. We interpret tangent geodesics as tangent lines whenever a (semi-)Riemannian metric, or, more generally, an affine connection is given in an ambient space of arbitrary dimension. Then, given an immersed curve, we define the tangent surface as the ruled surface by tangent geodesics to the curve. We apply the characterization of frontal singularities found by Kokubu, Rossman, Saji, Umehara, Yamada, and Fujimori, Saji, Umehara, Yamada, and found by the first author related to the procedure of openings of singularities.

Affine connections and singularities of tangent surfaces to space curves

We give the complete solution to the local diffeomorphism classification problem of generic singularities which appear in tangent surfaces, in as wider situations as possible. We interpret tangent geodesics as tangent lines whenever a (semi-)Riemannian metric, or, more generally, an affine connection is given in an ambient space of arbitrary dimension. Then, given an immersed curve, or, more generally a directed curve or a frontal curve which has well-defined tangent directions along the curve, we define the tangent surface as the ruled surface by tangent geodesics to the curve. We apply the characterization of frontal singularities found by Kokubu, Rossman, Saji, Umehara, Yamada, and Fujimori, Saji, Umehara, Yamada, and found by the first author related to the procedure of openings of singularities.

Strain-induced enhancement of electric quadrupole splitting in resistively detected nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum in quantum Hall systems

We show electrical coherent manipulation of quadrupole-split nuclear spin states in a GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructure on the basis of the breakdown of quantum Hall effect. The electric quadrupole splitting in nuclear spin energy levels is intentionally enhanced by applying an external stress to the heterostructure. Nuclear magnetic resonance spectra with clearly separated triple peaks are obtained, and Rabi oscillations are observed between the nuclear spin energy levels. The decay of the spin-echo signal is compared between the cases before and after the enhancement of quadrupole splitting.
