Non-vacuum metrics for the Newman-Unti-Tamburino background: A coordinate-free approach to diverging and twisting solutions

The geometry of the Newman-Unti-Tamburino (NUT) vacuum solution is characterized as the unique Petrov Type D vacuum metric such that the two double principal null directions form an integrable distribution. We study expanding and twisting non-vacuum Type D metrics in this geometry, with the additional assumption $Φ_{01}=Φ_{12}=0$. We prove that these conditions determine the solutions up to a freedom in $Φ_{11}\pm 3Λ$.

A coordinate-free approach to obtaining exact solutions in general relativity: The Newman-Unti-Tamburino solution revisited

The Newman-Unti-Tamburino (NUT) solution is characterized as the unique Petrov Type $D$ vacuum metric such that the two double principal null directions form an integrable distribution. The uniqueness of the NUT is established by evaluating the integrability conditions of the Newman-Penrose equations up to $SL(2,\mathbb{C})$ transformations, resulting in a coordinate-free characterization of the solution.

An Explicit Kaluza-Klein Reduction of Einstein's Gravity in $6D$ on $S^2$

We study a six-dimensional Kaluza-Klein theory with spacetime topology $M_4 \times S^2$ and analyze the gauge sector arising from dimensional reduction. Using normalized Killing vectors on $S^2$, we explicitly construct the reduced Yang-Mills action and determine the corresponding gauge kinetic matrix. Despite the $SO(3)$ isometry of $S^2$, we show that only two physical gauge fields propagate in four dimensions. The gauge kinetic matrix therefore has rank two and possesses a single zero eigenvalue. We demonstrate that this degeneracy is a direct consequence of the coset structure $S^2 \simeq SO(3)/SO(2)$ and reflects a non-dynamical gauge direction rather than an inconsistency of the reduction. Our results clarify the geometric origin of gauge degrees of freedom in Kaluza-Klein reductions on coset spaces.

Born-Infeld signatures in AdS black hole thermodynamics and gravitational lensing

We investigate the thermodynamic and optical properties of Einstein-Born-Infeld-Anti-de Sitter (EBI-AdS) black holes (BHs). Our study derives the Hawking temperature using standard surface gravity methods and examines quantum corrections through both the Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP) and exponential entropy modifications, showing enhanced thermal radiation and potential remnant formation scenarios. The gravitational redshift analysis separates contributions from mass, cosmological constant, electromagnetic charge, and Born-Infeld (BI) corrections, with the latter scaling as $a^4/r^6$ and thus confined to near-horizon regimes. Using the Gauss-Bonnet theorem, we calculate light deflection angles in both vacuum and plasma environments, demonstrating how dispersive media can either enhance or suppress nonlinear electrodynamic signatures depending on observational configurations. The thermodynamic analysis in extended phase space, where the BH mass corresponds to enthalpy, reveals phase structures with heat capacity transitions between positive and negative values, indicating regions of local stability and instability sensitive to parameter choices. We study BH heat engines operating in rectangular thermodynamic cycles, achieving efficiencies of $η\sim 0.11$--$0.21$ that reach 30--61\% of the corresponding Carnot limits, consistent with other AdS BH systems. Comparison with Johnson's analysis confirms that BI corrections to heat engine efficiency are of order $10^{-12}$ for typical parameter ranges, though these effects become appreciable in the strong-field regime where $r_h \lesssim 1.5$ in Planck units. The plasma deflection analysis reveals frequency-dependent refractive modifications encoded in the plasma parameter, offering additional possible observational channels.

Scattering of massive neutrino test fields from a gravitational pulse

Linearized Einstein-Weyl equations are solved precisely in the context of sandwich gravitational waves. The neutrino's energy-momentum depends on the geometry and composition of the gravitational pulse when it is scattered. Since the background remains unchanged at the test field level, the neutrino's energy density will exhibit fluctuations between positive and negative extremes when traversing the sandwich wave. These variations could provide insights into the behavior of models concerning neutrino oscillations.

A remarkable dynamical symmetry of the Landau problem

We show that the dynamical group of an electron in a constant magnetic field is the group of symplectomorphisms $Sp(4,\mathbb{R})$. It is generated by the spinorial realization of the conformal algebra $\mathfrak{so}(2,3)$ considered in Dirac's seminal paper "A Remarkable Representation of the 3 + 2 de Sitter Group". The symplectic group $Sp(4,\mathbb{R})$ is the double covering of the conformal group $SO(2,3)$ of 2+1 dimensional Minkowski spacetime which is in turn the dynamical group of a hydrogen atom in 2 space dimensions. The Newton-Hooke duality between the 2D hydrogen atom and the Landau problem is explained via the Tits-Kantor-Koecher construction of the conformal symmetries of the Jordan algebra of real symmetric $2 \times 2$ matrices. The connection between the Landau problem and the 3D hydrogen atom is elucidated by the reduction of a Dirac spinor to a Majorana one in the Kustaanheimo-Stiefel spinorial regularization.

The Exterior Calculus of Quadratic Gravity

The metric tensor field equations for the general quadratic curvature gravity in four spacetime dimensions are derived by making use of the algebra of the exterior forms defined on pseudo-Riemannian manifolds and the identities satisfied by the Riemann curvature tensor. The linearized metric field equations are formulated in terms of perturbation 1-form fields.

Reformulation of continuum defects in terms of the general teleparallel geometry in the language of exterior algebra

We discuss the geometric formulation of continuum defects consisting of dislocations and disclinations. After reviewing the metric affine geometry and the present geometric formulation of dislocation and disclination written in terms of torsion and full curvature (together with vanishing non-metricity), we give a new formulation of them in a novel way in terms of torsion and non-metricity (together with vanishing full curvature), the so-called general teleparallel geometry. All calculations are performed by using the exterior algebra. We obtain continuity equations explicitly for dislocation density and disclination density.

Jordan Algebraic Formulation of Quantum Mechanics and The Non-commutative Landau Problem

We present a Jordan algebraic formulation of the non-commutative Landau problem coupled to a harmonic potential. To achieve this, an alternative formulation of the Hilbert space version of quantum mechanics is presented. Using this construction, the Hilbert space corresponding to the non-commutative Landau problem is obtained. Non-commutative parameters are then described in terms of an associator in the Jordan algebraic setting. Pure states and density matrices arising from this problem are characterized. This in turn leads us to the Jordan-Schrödinger time-evolution equation for the state vectors for this specific problem.

Crossing the singularity of a gravitational wave collision

A reformulation of general relativity inspired by the Belinski-Khalatnikov-Lifshitz conjecture had been introduced by Ashtekar, Henderson and Sloan which is based on variables closely related to the basic variables of loop quantum gravity, thereby providing a way of classically analyzing singularities that may be carried over to the quantum theory. It is reasonable to expect that these variables are regular at generic spacelike singularities. This has been shown on various examples -- particularly, cosmological spacetimes. In this study we extend this analysis to the singularities of gravitational wave collision spacetimes, which are the result of the mutual focusing of the two waves. We focus on two specific examples and explicitly confirm that the said variables are regular at the singularity and can be smoothly continued beyond it.

Weyl Neutrinos In Plane Symmetric Spacetimes

We investigate complex quaternion-valued exterior differential forms over 4-dimensional Lorentzian spacetimes and explore Weyl spinor fields as minimal left ideals within the complex quaternion algebra. The variational derivation of the coupled Einstein-Weyl equations from an action is presented, and the resulting field equations for both first and second order variations are derived and simplified. Exact plane symmetric solutions of the Einstein-Weyl equations are discussed, and two families of exact solutions describing left-moving and right-moving neutrino plane waves are provided. The study highlights the significance of adjusting a quartic self-coupling of the Weyl spinor in the action to ensure the equivalence of the field equations.

General teleparallel metrical geometries

In the conventional formulation of general relativity, gravity is represented by the metric curvature of Riemannian geometry. There are also alternative formulations in flat affine geometries, wherein the gravitational dynamics is instead described by torsion and nonmetricity. These so called general teleparallel geometries may also have applications in material physics, such as the study of crystal defects. In this work, we explore the general teleparallel geometry in the language of differential forms. We discuss the special cases of metric and symmetric teleparallelisms, clarify the relations between formulations with different gauge fixings and without gauge fixing, and develop a method of recasting Riemannian into teleparallel geometries. As illustrations of the method, exact solutions are presented for the generic quadratic theory in 2, 3 and 4 dimensions.

Neutrino Fields in a Sandwich Gravitational Wave Background

Sandwich gravitational waves are given globally in terms of step functions at the boundaries. Linearized Einstein-Weyl equations are solved exactly in this background in Rosen coordinates. Depending on the geometry and composition of the sandwich wave, the neutrino's energy-momentum redistributes itself. At the test field level, since the background will not change, the neutrino's energy density in particular will show variations between positive and negative extrema when crossing the sandwich wave. This may reveal facts about the weakly interacting neutrinos in cosmology.

Pre-Metric-Bourbaki Algebroids: Cartan Calculus for M-Theory

String and M theories seem to require generalizations of usual notions of differential geometry. Such generalizations usually involve extending the tangent bundle to larger vector bundles equipped with various algebroid structures. The most general geometric scheme is not well understood yet, and a unifying framework for such algebroid structures is needed. Our aim in this paper is to propose such a general framework. Our strategy is to follow the hierarchy of defining axioms for a Courant algebroid: almost-Courant - metric - pre-Courant - Courant. In particular, we focus on the symmetric part of the bracket and the metric invariance property, and try to make sense of them in a manner as general as possible. These ideas lead us to define new algebroid structures which we dub Bourbaki and metric-Bourbaki algebroids. For a special case of exact pre-metric-Bourbaki algebroids, we construct maps which generalize the Cartan calculus of exterior derivative, Lie derivative and interior product. This is done by a reverse-mathematical analysis of Severa classification of exact Courant algebroids. Abstracting crucial properties of these maps, we define the notion of Bourbaki pre-calculus. Conversely, given a Bourbaki pre-calculus, we construct a pre-metric-Bourbaki algebroid with a standard bracket analogous to Dorfman bracket. We prove that any exact pre-metric-Bourbaki algebroid satisfying certain conditions has to have a bracket that is the twisted version of the standard bracket. We prove that many algebroids from the literature are examples of these new algebroids. One straightforward generalization of our constructions might be done by replacing the tangent bundle with a Lie algebroid A. This step allows us to define A-Bourbaki algebroids and Bourbaki A-pre-calculus, and extend our results, while proving many other algebroids from the literature fit into this framework.

Variational Field Equations of a Majorana Neutrino Coupled to Einstein's Theory of General Relativity

A consistent variational derivation of the Majorana 4-spinor field equations coupled to Einstein's theory of gravitation is given. The equivalence of the first and the second order variational field equations is explicitly demonstrated. The Lagrange multiplier 2-forms we use turn out to be precisely the Belinfante-Rosenfeld 2-forms that are needed to symmetrize the canonical energy-momentum tensor of the Majorana spinor.

A note on the pp-wave solution of Minimal Massive 3D Gravity coupled with Maxwell-Chern-Simons theory

In this work, we examine a family of $pp$-wave solutions of Minimal Massive 3d Gravity (MMG) minimally coupled with the Maxwell-Chern-Simons theory. An elaborate investigation of the field equations shows that the theory admits $pp$-wave solutions provided that there exist an anti-self duality relation between the electric and the magnetic components of the Maxwell 2-form field. By employing Noether-Wald formalism, we also construct Noether charges of the theory within exterior algebra formalism.
