Primordial black holes and mirror dark matter

If mirror matter exists but cannot comprise all of the dark matter (DM) in the universe, we can expect that the additional DM component may only interact with the other sectors gravitationally. One of the natural candidate of a gravitationally interacting component is a primordial black hole (PBH). Therefore, if mirror matter exists but cannot comprise all of the DM in the universe, the existence of PBH may be expected as a candidate of the additional DM component. In this case, the remaining DM components may be PBHs or $SU(3)\times SU(2)\times U(1)$ singlet particles from PBH. We show constraints on PBH with the mirror DM. Particularly, the initial PBH mass is estimated to be $10^{17} \ {\rm g} \lesssim M_{\rm PBH} \lesssim 10^{23} \ {\rm g}$, if the DM comprises mirror baryons and PBHs.

Primordial black holes and lepton flavor violation with scotogenic dark matter

We show that if the lepton flavor violating $μ\rightarrow e γ$ process is observed in the MEG II experiment, the initial density of primordial black holes (PBHs) can be constrained with the scotogenic dark matter. As a benchmark case, if the PBH evaporation occurs in the radiation dominated era, the initial density may be $2\times 10^{-17} \lesssim β\lesssim 3 \times 10^{-16}$ for $\mathcal{O}$ (TeV) scale dark sector in the scotogenic model where $β=ρ_{\rm PBH}/ρ_{\rm rad}$ is the ratio of the PBH density $ρ_{\rm PBH}$ to the radiation density $ρ_{\rm rad}$ at the time of PBH formation. As an other benchmark case, if PBHs evaporate in the PBH dominated era, the initial density may be $1 \times 10^{-8} \lesssim β\lesssim 3 \times 10^{-7}$ for $\mathcal{O}$ (GeV) scale dark matter with other $\mathcal{O}$ (TeV) scale particles in the scotogenic model.

New magic textures of Majorana neutrinos and baryon asymmetry of the Universe

The magic texture is one of the successful textures of the flavor neutrino mass matrix for Majorana neutrinos. In this paper, it turns out that two new types of magic textures are also consistent with the neutrino oscillation experiments, observation of cosmic microwave background radiation, and neutrinoless double beta decay experiments. The connection between these new magic textures and the leptogenesis scenario of the origin of the baryon asymmetry of the Universe is also discussed.

Primordial black holes and scotogenic dark matter

We study the effect of the scotogenic dark matter on the primordial black holes (PBHs) and vice versa. We show that if the PBHs evaporate in the radiation dominant era, the upper limit of the initial mass of the PBHs $M_{\rm in}$ should be constrained as $10^4 \lesssim M_{\rm in}/M_{\rm Pl} \lesssim 10^{10}$ for $\mathcal{O}$(1) TeV scotogenic dark matter ($\mathcal{O}$(1) TeV is the most appropriate energy scale in the scotogenic model). On the other hand, if the PBHs evaporate in the PBH dominated era, a quite heavy scotogenic dark matter ($m_{/rm DM} /gtrsim 10^9$ GeV) for $M_{/rm in}/M_{/rm Pl} /sim 10^{13}$ may be allowed.

Texture zeros flavor neutrino mass matrix and triplet Higgs models

One- and two-zero textures for the flavor neutrino mass matrix have been successful in explaining mixing in the neutrino sector. Conservatively, six cases of one-zero textures and seven cases of two-zero textures are compatible with observations. We show that one case may be the most natural in the one- and two-zero textures schemes if tiny neutrino masses are generated by the type-II seesaw mechanism in triplet Higgs models.

Scalar clockwork and flavor neutrino mass matrix

We study the capability of generating correct flavor neutrino mass matrix in a scalar clockwork model. First, we assume that the flavor structure is controlled by the Yukawa couplings as same as the standard model. In this case, the correct flavor neutrino mass matrix could be obtained by appropriate Yukawa couplings $Y_{\ell^\prime\ell}$ where $\ell^\prime, \ell = e, μ, τ$. Next, we assume that the Yukawa couplings are extremely democratic $|Y_{\ell^\prime\ell} |=1$. In this case, the model parameters of the scalar clockwork sector, such as the site number of a clockwork gear in a clockwork chain, should have the flavor indices $\ell^\prime$ and/or $\ell$ to generate correct flavor neutrino mass matrix. We show some examples of the assignments of the flavor indices which can yield the correct flavor neutrino mass matrix.

Magic square and Dirac flavor neutrino mass matrix

The magic texture is one of the successful textures of the flavor neutrino mass matrix for the Majorana type neutrinos. The name "magic" is inspired by the nature of the magic square. We estimate the compatibility of the magic square with the Dirac, instead of the Majorana, flavor neutrino mass matrix. It turned out that some parts of the nature of the magic square are appeared approximately in the Dirac flavor neutrino mass matrix and the magic squares prefer the normal mass ordering rather than the inverted mass ordering for the Dirac neutrinos.

Spinorial Structure of $O(3)$ and Application to Dark Matter

An $O(3)$ spinor, $Φ$, as a doublet denoted by ${\bf 2}_D$ consists of an $SO(3)$ spinor, $ϕ$, and its complex conjugate, $ϕ^\ast$, which form $Φ=\left(ϕ,ϕ^\ast\right)^T$ to be identified with a Majorana-type spinor of $O(4)$. The four gamma matrices $Γ_μ$ ($μ=1\sim 4$) are given by $Γ_i=\text{diag.}\left(τ_i,τ^\ast_i\right)$ ($i=1,2,3$) and $Γ_4=-τ_2\otimesτ_2$, where $τ_i$ denote the Pauli matrices. The rotations and axis-reflections of $O(3)$ are, respectively, generated by $Σ_{ij}$ and $Σ_{i4}$, where $Σ_{μν}=[Γ_μ,Γ_ν]/2i$. While $Φ$ is regarded as a scalar, a fermionic $O(3)$ spinor is constructed out of an $SO(3)$ doublet Dirac spinor and its charge conjugate. These $O(3)$ spinors are restricted to be neutral and cannot carry the standard model quantum numbers because they contain particles and antiparticles. Our $O(3)$ spinors serve as candidates of dark matter. The $O(3)$ symmetry in particle physics is visible when the invariance of interactions is considered by explicitly including their complex conjugates. It is possible to introduce a dark gauge symmetry based on $SO(3)\times\boldsymbol{Z}_2$ equivalent to $O(3)$, where the $\boldsymbol{Z}_2$ parity is described by a $U(1)$ charge giving 1 for a particle and $-1$ for an antiparticle. The $SO(3)$ and $U(1)$ gauge bosons turn out to transform as the axial vector of $O(3)$ and the pseudoscalar of $O(3)$, respectively. This property is related to the consistent definition of the nonabelian field strength tensor of $O(3)$ or of the U(1) charge of the O(3)-transformed spinor. To see the feasibility of our dark matter models, we discuss scalar dark matter phenomenology based on the dark $U(1)$ gauge model.

Clockwork origin of neutrino mixings

The clockwork mechanism provides a natural way to obtain hierarchical masses and couplings in a theory. We propose a clockwork model that has nine clockwork generations. In this model, the candidates of the origin of the neutrino mixings are nine Yukawa mass matrix elements $Y^{aβ}$ that connect neutrinos and clockwork fermions, nine clockwork mass ratios $q_{aβ}$, and nine numbers of clockwork fermions $n_{aβ}$, where $a, β=1,2,3$. Assuming $|Y^{aβ}|=1$, the neutrino mixings originate from the pure clockwork sector. We show that the observed neutrino mixings are exactly obtained from a clockwork model in the case of the $q_{aβ}$ origin scenario. In the $n_{aβ}$ origin scenario, the correct order of magnitude of the observed neutrino mixings is obtained from a clockwork model.

Parametrization of the Yukawa matrix in the scotogenic model and single-zero textures of the neutrino mass matrix

As the first topic, we propose a new parametrization of the complex Yukawa matrix in the scotogenic model. The new parametrization is compatible with the particle data group parametrization of the neutrino sector. Some analytical expressions for the neutrino masses with the new parametrization are shown. As the second topic, we consider the phenomenology of the socotogenic model with the one-zero-textures of the neutrino flavor mass matrix. One of the six patterns of the neutrino mass matrix is favorable for the real Yukawa matrix. On the other hand, for the complex Yukawa matrix, five of the six patterns are compatible with observations of the neutrino oscillations, dark matter relic abundance and branching ratio of the $μ\rightarrow eγ$ process.

Spinor Representation of $O(3)$ for $S_4$

All possible permutations in the discrete $S_4$ group are classified by three rotation angles associated with the orthogonal group $O(3)$. We construct a spinor representation ${\bf 2}_D$ of $O(3)$, which is transformed by three 4$\times$4 matrices corresponding to three Pauli matrices in $SO(3)$. An irreducible decomposition of ${\bf 2}_D \otimes {\bf 2}_D$ supplies a vector representation of {\bf 3} of $O(3)$, thereby, of $S_4$. Our construction is consistent with the mathematical fact that $O(3)=SO(3)\times \boldsymbol{Z}_2$. The $\boldsymbol{Z}_2$ parity in the spinorial space is described by a block off-diagonal matrix as the spinorial parity operator, whose eigenvalues are $\pm 1$ consistent with $\boldsymbol{Z}_2$.

Scotogenic dark matter and single-zero textures of the neutrino mass matrix

The scotogenic model can simultaneously account for the presence of dark matter and the origin of neutrino masses. We assume that the flavor neutrino mass matrix has one zero element and Yukawa matrix elements are real in the scotogenic model. It turns out that only one pattern of the flavor neutrino mass matrix in the one-zero-texture scheme within the scotogenic model is viable with the observed neutrino oscillation data, the relic abundance of the dark matter, and the upper limit of the branching ratio of the $μ\rightarrow e γ$ process.

Parafermionic dark mater

To discuss the possible contribution of parafermions to the dark matter abundance, we extend the Boltzmann equation for fermionic dark matter to include parafermions. Parafermions can accommodate $r$ particles per quantum state $(2\le r<\infty)$, where the parafermion of order $r=1$ is identical to the ordinary fermion. It is found that the parafermionic dark matter can be more abundant than the fermionic dark matter in the present universe.

$S_4$ symmetric four-generation models for charged leptons

We propose $S_4$ symmetric four-generation models for charged leptons. Although an $S_4$ symmetric four-generation model has been already proposed, there are some additional symmetries in the model. We construct four-generation models for charged leptons with only requirement of exact $S_4$ symmetry. It turned out that at least one of the models is consistent with observations of charged lepton masses and predicts the mass of the charged lepton of the fourth generation to be 556 GeV.

Relativistic effective degrees of freedom and quantum statistics of neutrinos

Analytical expressions of the relativistic effective degrees of freedom $g_\ast$ with non-pure fermionic neutrinos are presented. A semi-analytical study is performed to show that $g_\ast$ with pure fermionic neutrinos may be greater than $g_\ast$ with pure bosonic neutrinos for non-vanishing lepton flavor asymmetries.

Seesaw model and two zero flavor neutrino texture

In the two zero flavor neutrino mass matrix scheme with nonvanishing Majorana effective mass $M_{ee}$ for the neutrino less double beta decay, four textures are compatible with observed data. We obtain the complete list of the possible textures of four zero Dirac neutrino mass matrix $m_D$ in the seesaw mechanism providing these four flavor neutrino textures. Explicit analytical analysis of $m_D$ turns out to provide the relation of $m_D \propto \sqrt{M_{ee}}$.

Maximal CP Violation in Minimal Seesaw Model

In the minimal seesaw model, we derive required constraints on Dirac neutrino masses inducing maximal CP violation in neutrino oscillations. If the maximal atmospheric neutrino mixing is further assumed, Dirac neutrino masses are uniquely determined to respect $μ$-$τ$ flavored CP symmetry for neutrinos.
