A UV complete model for radiative seesaw and electroweak baryogenesis based on the SUSY gauge theory

In a class of supersymmetric gauge theories with asymptotic freedom, the low energy effective theory below the confinement scale is described by the composite superfields of the fundamental representation fields. Based on the supersymmetric gauge theory with N_c=2 and N_f=3 with an additional unbroken Z_2 symmetry, we propose a new model where neutrino masses, dark matter, and baryon asymmetry of the Universe can be simultaneously explained by physics below the confinement scale. This is an example for the ultraviolet complete supersymmetric extension of so-called radiative seesaw scenarios with first-order phase transition required for successful electroweak baryogenesis. We show that there are benchmark points where all the neutrino data, the lepton flavor violation data, and the LHC data are satisfied. We also briefly discuss Higgs phenomenology in this model.

Electroweak phase transition and Higgs boson couplings in the model based on supersymmetric strong dynamics

We discuss a strongly-coupled extended Higgs sector with the 126 GeV Higgs boson, which is a low-energy effective theory of the supersymmetric SU(2)$_H$ gauge thoery that causes confinement. In this effective theory, we study the parameter region where electroweak phase transition is of strongly first order, as required for successful electroweak baryogenesis. In such a parameter region, the model has a Landau pole at the order of 10 TeV, which corresponds to the confinement scale of the SU(2)$_H$ gauge theory. We find that the large coupling constant which blows up at the Landau pole results in large non-decoupling loop effects on low-energy observables, such as the Higgs-photon-photon vertex and the triple Higgs boson vertex. As phenomenological consequences of electroweak baryogenesis in our model, the Higgs-to-diphoton branching ratio is about 20% smaller while the triple Higgs boson coupling is more than about 20% larger than the standard model predictions. Such deviations may be detectable in future collider experiments.

A light Higgs scenario based on the TeV-scale supersymmetric strong dynamics

We consider a model based on the supersymmetric QCD theory with N_c=2 and N_f=3. The theory is strongly coupled at the infrared scale Λ_H. Its low energy effective theory below Λ_H is described by the supersymmetric standard model with the Higgs sector that contains four iso-spin doublets, two neutral iso-spin singlets and two charged iso-spin singlets. If Λ_H is at the multi-TeV to 10 TeV, coupling constants for the F-terms of these composite fields are relatively large at the electroweak scale. Nevertheless, the SM-like Higgs boson is predicted to be as light as 125 GeV because these F-terms contribute to the mass of the SM-like Higgs boson not at the tree level but at the one-loop level. A large non-decoupling effect due to these F-terms appears in the one-loop correction to the triple Higgs boson coupling, which amounts to a few tens percent. Such a non-decoupling property in the Higgs potential realizes the strong first order phase transition, which is required for a successful scenario of electroweak baryogenesis.

Decoupling Property of SUSY Extended Higgs Sectors and Implication for Electroweak Baryogenesis

One-loop contributions to the Higgs potential at finite temperatures are discussed in the supersymmetric standard model with four Higgs doublet chiral superfields as well as a pair of charged singlet chiral superfields. The mass of the lightest Higgs boson $h$ is determined only by the D-term at the tree-level in this model, while the triple Higgs boson coupling for $hhh$ can receive a significant radiative correction. The same nondecoupling effect can also contribute to realize the sufficient first order electroweak phase transition, which is required for a successful scenario of electroweak baryogenesis. This model can be a new candidate for a model in which the baryon asymmetry of the Universe is explained at the electroweak scale. We also discuss the implication for the measurement of the triple Higgs boson coupling at the ILC.

Decoupling property of the supersymmetric Higgs sector with four doublets

In supersymmetric standard models with multi Higgs doublet fields, selfcoupling constants in the Higgs potential come only from the D-terms at the tree level. We investigate the decoupling property of additional two heavier Higgs doublet fields in the supersymmetric standard model with four Higgs doublets. In particular, we study how they can modify the predictions on the quantities well predicted in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM), when the extra doublet fields are rather heavy to be measured at collider experiments. The B-term mixing between these extra heavy Higgs bosons and the relatively light MSSM-like Higgs bosons can significantly change the predictions in the MSSM such as on the masses of MSSM-like Higgs bosons as well as the mixing angle for the two light CP-even scalar states. We first give formulae for deviations in the observables of the MSSM in the decoupling region for the extra two doublet fields. We then examine possible deviations in the Higgs sector numerically, and discuss their phenomenological implications.

First-order electroweak phase transition powered by additional F-term loop effects in an extended supersymmetric Higgs sector

We investigate the one-loop effect of new charged scalar bosons on the Higgs potential at finite temperatures in the supersymmetric standard model with four Higgs doublet chiral superfields as well as a pair of charged singlet chiral superfields. In this model, the mass of the lightest Higgs boson $h$ is determined only by the D-term in the Higgs potential at the tree-level, while the triple Higgs boson coupling for $hhh$ can receive a significant radiative correction due to nondecoupling one-loop contributions of the additional charged scalar bosons. We find that the same nondecoupling mechanism can also contribute to realize stronger first order electroweak phase transition than that in the minimal supersymmetric standard model, which is definitely required for a successful scenario of electroweak baryogenesis. Therefore, this model can be a new candidate for a model in which the baryon asymmetry of the Universe is explained at the electroweak scale.

Non-decoupling effects in supersymmetric Higgs sectors

A wide class of Higgs sectors is investigated in supersymmetric standard models. When the lightest Higgs boson (h) looks the standard model one, the mass (m_h) and the triple Higgs boson coupling (the hhh coupling) are evaluated at the one-loop level in each model. While m_h is at most 120-130 GeV in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM), that in models with an additional neutral singlet or triplet fields can be much larger. The hhh coupling can also be sensitive to the models: while in the MSSM the deviation from the standard model prediction is not significant, that can be 30-60 % in some models such as the MSSM with the additional singlet or with extra doublets and charged singlets. These models are motivated by specific physics problems like the mu-problem, the neutrino mass, the scalar dark matter and so on. Therefore, when h is found at the CERN Large Hadron Collider, we can classify supersymmetric models by measuring m_h and the hhh coupling accurately at future collider experiments.

Tiny neutrino mass from SUSY and lepton number breaking sector

We suggest new setup where SUSY breaking spurion F-term possesses lepton number. This setup not only modifies sparticle mass spectra but also realizes several new models, where neutrino mass is naturally induced through radiative corrections. We here suggest two new models; the first one is (i): pseudo-Dirac/Schizophrenic neutrino model, and the second one is (ii): pure Majorana neutrino model. We will also show this setup can naturally apply to the supersymmetric Zee-Babu model.

An R-parity conserving radiative neutrino mass model without right-handed neutrinos

The model proposed by A. Zee (1986) and K.S. Babu (1988) is a simple radiative seesaw model, in which tiny neutrino masses are generated at the two-loop level. We investigate a supersymmetric extension of the Zee-Babu model under R-parity conservation. The lightest superpartner particle can then be a dark matter candidate. We find that the neutrino data can be reproduced with satisfying current data from lepton flavour violation even in the scenario where not all the superpartner particles are heavy. Phenomenology at the Large Hadron Collider is also discussed.

Gluon jet as a probe of a long-lived colored particle at the LHC

In some new physics models, there exists a long-lived colored particle. Although such a particle is expected be discovered by studying the muon-like tracks, it is not easy to discriminate hadronic events from leptonic ones at the Large Hadron Collider. We focus on the charged track events associated with a single hard gluon jet. They are sensitive to the colored long-lived particle and found to be almost free from the background after applying the velocity cut. We also study the the process to probe properties of the particle.

Probing Gravitino Dark Matter with PAMELA and Fermi

We analyze the cosmic-ray signatures of decaying gravitino dark matter in a model independent way based on an operator analysis. Thermal leptogenesis and universal boundary conditions at the GUT scale restrict the gravitino mass to be below 600 GeV. Electron and positron fluxes from gravitino decays, together with the standard GALPROP background, cannot explain both, the PAMELA positron fraction and the electron + positron flux recently measured by Fermi LAT. For gravitino dark matter, the observed fluxes require astrophysical sources. The measured antiproton flux allows for a sizable contribution of decaying gravitinos to the gamma-ray spectrum, in particular a line at an energy below 300 GeV. Future measurements of the gamma-ray flux will provide important constraints on possible signatures of decaying gravitino dark matter at the LHC.

R-parity Violating Right-Handed Neutrino in Gravitino Dark Matter Scenario

A decay of the gravitino dark matter is an attractive candidate to explain the current excesses of the PAMELA/ATIC cosmic-ray data. However, R-parity violations are required to be very tiny in low-energy scale. We suggest a R-parity violation in the right-handed neutrino sector. The violation is suppressed by a see-saw mechanism. Although a reheating temperature is constrained from above, the thermal leptogenesis is found to work successfully with a help of the R-parity violating right-handed neutrino.

Superparticle Mass Window from Leptogenesis and Decaying Gravitino Dark Matter

Gravitino dark matter, together with thermal leptogenesis, implies an upper bound on the masses of superparticles. In the case of broken R-parity the constraints from primordial nucleosynthesis are naturally satisfied and decaying gravitinos lead to characteristic signatures in high energy cosmic rays. We analyse the implications for supergravity models with universal boundary conditions at the grand unification scale. Together with low-energy observables one obtains a window of superparticle masses, which will soon be probed at the LHC, and a range of allowed reheating temperatures.

Theoretical constraints on the rare tau decays in the MSSM

The Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model contains in general sources of tau lepton flavour violation which induce the rare decays tau --> mu gamma and tau --> e gamma. We argue in this paper that the observation of both rare processes would imply a lower bound on the radiative muon decay of the form BR(mu --> e gamma) > C BR(tau --> mu gamma) BR(tau --> e gamma). We estimate the size of the constant C without specifying the origin of the tau flavour violation in the supersymmetric model and we discuss the implications of our bound for future searches of rare lepton decays. In particular, we show that, for a wide class of models, present B-factories could discover either tau --> mu gamma or tau --> e gamma, but not both. We also derive for completeness the constant C in the most general setup, pursuing an effective theory approach.

Froggatt-Nielsen hierarchy and the neutrino mass matrix

We study the neutrino mass matrix derived from the seesaw mechanism in which the neutrino Yukawa couplings and the heavy Majorana neutrino mass matrix are controlled by the Froggatt-Nielsen mechanism. In order to obtain the large neutrino mixings, two Froggatt-Nielsen fields are introduced with a complex vacuum expectation values. As a by-product, CP violation is systematically induced even if the order one couplings of FN fields are real. We show several predictions of this model, such as theta_{13}, the Dirac CP phase, two Majorana CP phases, the effective mass of the neutrinoless double beta decay and the leptogenesis. The prediction of the branching ratio of mu to e+gamma is also given in SUSY model.

Lepton-flavour violation in the light of leptogenesis and muon g-2

A discrepancy between the experimental and theoretical results was reported for the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. In leptogenesis scenarios which are due to a decay of right-handed neutrinos, this anomaly leads to large violations of lepton flavour within the framework of supersymmetric see-saw models. It is shown that for a hierarchical right-handed neutrino mass spectrum, we generically expect to observe μ\to e γin the near future experiment.

Patterns of flavor signals in supersymmetric models

Quark and lepton flavor signals are studied in four supersymmetric models, namely the minimal supergravity model, the minimal supersymmetric standard model with right-handed neutrinos, SU(5) supersymmetric grand unified theory with right-handed neutrinos and the minimal supersymmetric standard model with U(2) flavor symmetry. We calculate b --> s(d) transition observables in B_d and B_s decays, taking the constraint from the B_s--B_s-bar mixing recently observed at Tevatron into account. We also calculate lepton flavor violating processes mu --> e gamma, tau --> mu gamma and tau --> e gamma for the models with right-handed neutrinos. We investigate possibilities to distinguish the flavor structure of the supersymmetry breaking sector with use of patterns of various flavor signals which are expected to be measured in experiments such as MEG, LHCb and a future Super B Factory.

CP violation due to multi Froggatt-Nielsen fields

We study how to incorporate CP violation in the Froggatt--Nielsen (FN) mechanism. To this end, we introduce non-renormalizable interactions with a flavor democratic structure to the fermion mass generation sector. It is found that at least two iso-singlet scalar fields with imposed a discrete symmetry are necessary to generate CP violation due to the appearance of the relative phase between their vacuum expectation values. In the simplest model, ratios of quark masses and the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix including the CP violating phase are determined by the CKM element |V_{us}| and the ratio of two vacuum expectation values R=|R|e^{i*alpha} (a magnitude and a phase). It is demonstrated how the angles phi_i (i=1--3) of the unitarity triangle and the CKM off-diagonal elements |V_{ub}| and |V_{cb}| are predicted as a function of |V_{us}|, |R| and α. Although the predicted value of the CP violating phase does not agree with the experimental data within the simplest model, the basic idea of our scenario would be promising to construct a more realistic model of flavor and CP violation.
