Measurements of $Λ^+_c$ Branching Fractions of Cabibbo-Suppressed Decay Modes involving $Λ$ and $Σ^{0}$

We measure the branching ratios of the Cabibbo-suppressed decays $Λ^+_c$ $\to$ $Λ$ $K^+$ and $Λ^+_c$ $\to$ $Σ^{0}$ $K^+$ %(measured with improved accuracy). relative to the Cabibbo-favored decay modes $Λ^+_c$ $\to$ $Λ$ $π^+$ and $Λ^+_c$ $\to$ $Σ^{0}$ $π^+$ to be $ 0.044 \pm 0.004 (\textnormal{stat.}) \pm 0.003 \ (\textnormal{syst.})$ and $ 0.039 \pm 0.005 (\textnormal{stat.}) \pm 0.003 (\textnormal{syst.})$, respectively. We set an upper limit on the branching ratio at 90 % confidence level for $Λ^+_c$ $\to$ $Λ$ $K^+ π^+ π^-$ to be $ 4.1 \times 10^{-2}$ relative to $Λ^+_c$ $\to$ $Λ$ $π^+$ and for $Λ^+_c$ $\to$ $Σ^{0}$ $K^+ π^+ π^-$ to be $ 2.0 \times 10^{-2}$ relative to $Λ^+_c$ $\to$ $Σ^{0}$ $π^+$. We also measure the branching fraction for the Cabibbo-favored mode $Λ^+_c$ $\to$ $Σ^{0}$ $π^+$ relative to $Λ^+_c$ $\to$ $Λ$ $π^+$ to be $0.977 \pm 0.015 (\textnormal{stat.}) \pm 0.051 (\textnormal{syst.})$. This analysis was performed using a data sample with an integrated luminosity of 125 fb$^{-1}$ collected by the $BABAR$ detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy $B$ factory at SLAC.

Measurement of CP-Violating Asymmetries in B0-->(rhopi)0 Using a Time-Dependent Dalitz Plot Analysis

We report a measurement of CP-violating asymmetries in B0-->(rhopi)0-->pi+pi-pi0 decays using a time-dependent Dalitz plot analysis. The results are obtained from a data sample of 375 million Y(4S) --> BBbar decays, collected by the BaBar detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC. We measure 26 coefficients of the bilinear form-factor terms occurring in the time-dependent decay rate of the B0 meson. We derive the physically relevant quantities from these coefficients. In particular, we measure a constraint on the angle alpha of the Unitarity Triangle.

Measurement of the Relative Branching Fractions of Bbar --> D/D*/D** l^- anti-nu_l Decays in Events with a Fully Reconstructed B Meson

We determine the relative branching fractions of semileptonic B decays to charmed final states. The measurement is performed on the recoil from a fully reconstructed B meson in a sample of 362 million BBbar pairs collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the BaBar detector. A simultaneous fit to a set of discriminating variables is performed on a sample of Bbar --> D X l^- anti-nu_l decays to determine the contributions from the different channels. We measure Gamma(B- --> D l^- anti-nu_l)/Gamma (B- --> D X l^- anti-nu_l)= 0.227 +/- 0.014 +/- 0.016, Gamma(B- --> D* l^- anti-nu_l)/Gamma (B- --> D X l^- anti-nu_l)= 0.582 +/- 0.018 +/- 0.030 and Gamma(B- --> D** l^- anti-nu_l)/Gamma (B- --> D X l^- anti-nu_l)= 0.191 +/- 0.013 +/- 0.019 for the charged B sample, and Gamma(B0bar --> D l^- anti-nu_l)/Gamma (B0bar --> D X l^- anti-nu_l)= 0.215 +/- 0.016 +/- 0.013, Gamma(B0bar --> D* l^- anti-nu_l)/Gamma (B0bar --> D X l^- anti-nu_l)= 0.537 +/- 0.031 +/- 0.036 and Gamma(B0bar --> D** l^- anti-nu_l)/Gamma (B0bar --> D X l^- anti-nu_l)= 0.248 +/- 0.032 +/- 0.030 for the neutral B sample, where uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively.

Observation of CP violation in B^0 -> eta' K^0 Decays

We present measurements of the time-dependent CP-violation parameters S and C in B^0 --> eta' K^0 decays. The data sample corresponds to 384 million B Bar pairs produced by e^+ e^- annihilation at the Y(4S). The results are S = 0.58 +- 0.10 +- 0.03 and C = -0.16 +- 0.07 +- 0.03. We observe mixing-induced CP violation with a significance of 5.5 standard deviations in this b -> s penguin dominated mode.

Evidence for D0-anti-D0 Mixing

We present evidence for D0-anti-D0 mixing in D0 --> K+pi- decays from 384 fb^{-1} of e+e- colliding-beam data recorded near sqrt(s) 10.6 GeV with the BaBar detector at the PEP-II storage rings at SLAC. We find the mixing parameters x'^2 = [-0.22 +- 0.30 (stat.) +- 0.21 (syst.)] x 10^{-3} and y' = [9.7 +- 4.4 (stat.) +- 3.1 (syst.)] x 10^{-3}, and a correlation between them of -0.94. This result is inconsistent with the no-mixing hypothesis with a significance of 3.9 standard deviations. We measure R_D, the ratio of doubly Cabibbo-suppressed to Cabibbo-favored decay rates, to be [0.303 +- 0.016 (stat.) +- 0.010 (syst.)]%. We find no evidence for \CP violation.

Vector-Tensor and Vector-Vector Decay Amplitude Analysis of B0->phi K*0

We perform an amplitude analysis of the decays B0->phi K^*_2(1430)0, phi K^*(892)0, and phi(K pi)^0_S-wave with a sample of about 384 million BBbar pairs recorded with the BABAR detector. The fractions of longitudinal polarization f_L of the vector-tensor and vector-vector decay modes are measured to be 0.853 +0.061-0.069 +-0.036 and 0.506 +-0.040 +-0.015, respectively. Overall, twelve parameters are measured for the vector-vector decay and seven parameters for the vector-tensor decay, including the branching fractions and parameters sensitive to CP-violation.

Evidence for B0->rho0rho0 Decay and Implications for the CKM Angle alpha

We search for the decays B0->rho0rho0, B0->rho0f0, and B0->f0f0 in a sample of about 384 million Upsilon(4S)->BBbar decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- collider at SLAC. We find evidence for B0->rho0rho0 with 3.5 sigma significance and measure the branching fraction BR = (1.07+-0.33+-0.19)10^-6 and longitudinal polarization fraction f_L = 0.87+-0.13+-0.04, where the first uncertainty is statistical, and the second is systematic. The uncertainty on the CKM unitarity angle alpha due to penguin contributions in B-> rho rho decays is 18 degrees at the 1 sigma level. We also set upper limits on the B0->rho0f0 and B0->f0f0 decay rates.

Branching fraction measurement of B0 --> D(*)- pi+, B- --> D(*)0 pi- and isospin analysis of B --> D(*) pi decays

Using 65 million $Υ(4S)\to B\bar{B}$ events collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II $e^{+}e^{-}$ storage ring at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, we measure the color-favored branching fractions ${\cal B}(\bar{B^{0}} \to D^{+} π^{-}) = (2.55 \pm 0.05 \pm 0.16)\times 10^{-3}$, ${\cal B}(\bar{B^{0}} \to D^{*+} π^{-}) = (2.79 \pm 0.08 \pm 0.17)\times 10^{-3}$, ${\cal B}(B^{-} \to D^{0} π^{-}) = (4.90 \pm 0.07 \pm 0.22)\times 10^{-3}$ and ${\cal B}(B^{-} \to D^{*0} π^{-}) = (5.52 \pm 0.17 \pm 0.42)\times 10^{-3}$, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. With these results and the current world average for the branching fraction for the color-suppressed decay $\bar{B^{0}} \to D^{(*)0}π^{0}$, the cosines of the strong phase difference $δ$ between the $I=1/2$ and $I=3/2$ isospin amplitudes are determined to be $ \cos δ= 0.872^{+0.008+0.031}_{-0.007-0.029}$ for the $\bar{B} \to Dπ$ process and $ \cos δ= 0.924^{+0.019+0.063}_{-0.017-0.054}$ for the $\bar{B} \to D^{*}π$ process. Under the isospin symmetry, the results for $\cos δ$ suggest that final-state interactions are present in the $Dπ$ system.

Search for the reactions e+e- -> mu+ tau- and e+e- -> e+ tau-

We report on a search for the lepton-flavor-violating processes $e^+e^- \to μ^+τ^-$ and $e^+e^- \to e^+τ^-$. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 211 fb$^{-1}$ recorded by the BaBar experiment at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s} = 10.58\ensuremath{\mathrm{Ge\kern -0.1em V}}$. We find no evidence for a signal and set the 90% confidence level upper limits on the cross sections to be $σ_{μτ} <3.8$ \ensuremath{fb} and $σ_{eτ} <9.2$\ensuremath{fb}. The ratio of the cross sections with respect to the dimuon cross section are measured to be $σ_{μτ}/σ_{μμ} < 3.4\times10^{-6}$ and $σ_{eτ}/σ_{μμ} < 8.2\times10^{-6}$.

Observation of B --> eta' K* and Evidence for B --> eta' rho+

We present an observation of $B\toη^\prime K^*$. The data sample corresponds to 232 million $B\bar{B}$ pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy $B$ Factory at SLAC. We measure the branching fractions (in units of $10^{-6}$) $\mathcal{B}(B^0\toη^\prime K^{*0}) = 3.8\pm1.1\pm0.5$ and $\mathcal{B}(B^+\toη^\prime K^{*+}) = 4.9^{+1.9}_{-1.7}\pm0.8$, where the first error is statistical and the second systematic. A simultaneous fit results in the observation of $B\toη^\prime K^*$ with $\mathcal{B}(B\toη^\prime K^*) = 4.1_{-0.9}^{+1.0} \pm 0.5$. We also search for $B\toη^\prime ρ$ and $B\toη^\prime f_0(980)(f_0 \to π^+π^-)$ with results and 90% confidence level upper limits $\mathcal{B}(B^+\toη^\prime ρ^+) = 8.7^{+3.1}_{-2.8}{} ^{+2.3}_{-1.3}$ ($<14$), $\mathcal{B}(B^0\toη^\prime ρ^0) < 3.7$ and $\mathcal{B}(B^0\toη^\prime f_0(980)(f_0\toπ^+π^-)) < 1.5$. Charge asymmetries in the channels with significant yields are consistent with zero.

Inclusive Lambda_c Production in e^+e^- Annihilations at sqrt{s}=10.54 GeV and in Upsilon(4S) Decays

We present measurements of the total production rates and momentum distributions of the charmed baryon $Λ_c^+$ in $e^+e^- \to$ hadrons at a center-of-mass energy of 10.54 GeV and in $Υ(4S)$ decays. In hadronic events at 10.54 GeV, charmed hadrons are almost exclusively leading particles in $e^+e^- \to c\bar{c}$ events, allowing direct studies of $c$-quark fragmentation. We measure a momentum distribution for $Λ_c^+$ baryons that differs significantly from those measured previously for charmed mesons. Comparing with a number of models, we find none that can describe the distribution completely. We measure an average scaled momentum of $\left< x_p \right> = 0.574\pm$0.009 and a total rate of $N_{Λc}^{q\bar{q}} = 0.057\pm$0.002(exp.)$\pm$0.015(BF) $Λ_c^+$ per hadronic event, where the experimental error is much smaller than that due to the branching fraction into the reconstructed decay mode, $pK^-π^+$. In $Υ(4S)$ decays we measure a total rate of $N_{Λc}^Υ = 0.091\pm$0.006(exp.)$\pm$0.024(BF) per $Υ(4S)$ decay, and find a much softer momentum distribution than expected from B decays into a $Λ_c^+$ plus an antinucleon and one to three pions.
