From Sensor Data to Classroom Inquiry: GenAI-Supported Exploration of School Digital Twin Data

Digital Twins for educational buildings can support sustainability-oriented learning, but their use in schools remains limited. This paper presents a GenAI-based chatbot built on top of an existing Digital Twin for two school buildings in Greece, using real IoT data from environmental sensors and energy meters. The chatbot enables educators to query live and historical building data, compare spaces, and generate ideas for classroom activities through natural language. The system was evaluated in an 80-minute workshop with 17 secondary-school educators, who compared it with an existing web-based dashboard. Results show strong perceived usability and pedagogical value, particularly for inquiry-based learning, hypothesis formation, and interdisciplinary lesson planning. Participants also highlighted limitations related to response speed, data verification, trust, and the continued value of visual dashboards. Overall, the findings suggest that GenAI interfaces can make Digital Twin data more accessible for educational use, provided they are designed with transparency, verification, and pedagogical grounding.

Towards Secure and Interoperable Data Spaces for 6G: The 6G-DALI Approach

The next generation of mobile networks, 6G, is expected to enable data-driven services at unprecedented scale and complexity, with stringent requirements for trust, interoperability, and automation. Central to this vision is the ability to create, manage, and share high-quality datasets across distributed and heterogeneous environments. This paper presents the data architecture of the 6G-DALI project, which implements a federated dataspace and DataOps infrastructure to support secure, compliant, and scalable data sharing for AI-driven experimentation and service orchestration. Drawing from principles defined by GAIA-X and the International Data Spaces Association (IDSA), the architecture incorporates components such as federated identity management, policy-based data contracts, and automated data pipelines. We detail how the 6G-DALI architecture aligns with and extends GAIA-X and IDSA reference models to meet the unique demands of 6G networks, including low-latency edge processing, dynamic trust management, and cross-domain federation. A comparative analysis highlights both convergence points and necessary innovations.

Filling in the Blanks: Applying Data Imputation in incomplete Water Metering Data

In this work, we explore the application of recent data imputation techniques to enhance monitoring and management of water distribution networks using smart water meters, based on data derived from a real-world IoT water grid monitoring deployment. Despite the detailed data produced by such meters, data gaps due to technical issues can significantly impact operational decisions and efficiency. Our results, by comparing various imputation methods, such as k-Nearest Neighbors, MissForest, Transformers, and Recurrent Neural Networks, indicate that effective data imputation can substantially enhance the quality of the insights derived from water consumption data as we study their effect on accuracy and reliability of water metering data to provide solutions in applications like leak detection and predictive maintenance scheduling.
