Courant-Nijenhuis algebroids

We introduce Courant 1-derivations, which describe a compatibility between Courant algebroids and linear (1,1)-tensor fields and lead to the notion of Courant-Nijenhuis algebroids. We provide examples of Courant 1-derivations on exact Courant algebroids and show that holomorphic Courant algebroids can be viewed as special types of Courant-Nijenhuis algebroids. By considering Dirac structures, one recovers the Dirac-Nijenhuis structures previously studied by the authors (in the special case of the standard Courant algebroid) and obtains an equivalent description of the Lie-Nijenhuis bialgebroids introduced by the second author via Manin triples.

Dirac structures and Nijenhuis operators

We introduce a notion of compatibility between (almost) Dirac structures and (1,1)-tensor fields extending that of Poisson-Nijenhuis structures. We study several properties of the "Dirac-Nijenhuis" structures thus obtained, including their connection with holomorphic Dirac structures, the geometry of their leaves and quotients, as well as the presence of hierarchies. We also consider their integration to Lie groupoids, which includes the integration of holomorphic Dirac structures as a special case.

Lie-Nijenhuis bialgebroids

We introduce Lie-Nijenhuis bialgebroids as Lie bialgebroids endowed with an additional derivation-like object. They give a complete infinitesimal description of Poisson-Nijenhuis groupoids, and key examples include Poisson-Nijenhuis manifolds, holomorphic Lie bialgebroids and flat Lie bialgebra bundles. To achieve our goal we develop a theory of "generalized derivations" and their duality, extending the well-established theory of derivations on vector bundles.

Lie theory of multiplicative tensors

We study tensors on Lie groupoids suitably compatible with the groupoid structure, called {\em multiplicative}. Our main result gives a complete description of these objects only in terms of infinitesimal data. Special cases include the infinitesimal counterparts of multiplicative forms, multivector fields and holomorphic structures, obtained through a unifying and conceptual method. We also give a full treatment of multiplicative vector-valued forms, particularly Nijenhuis operators and related structures.

Differential forms with values in VB-groupoids

We introduce multiplicative differential forms on Lie groupoids with values in VB-groupoids. Our main result gives a complete description of these objects in terms of infinitesimal data. By considering split VB-groupoids, we are able to present a Lie theory for differential forms on Lie groupoids with values in 2-term representations up to homotopy. We also define a differential complex whose 1-cocycles are exactly the multiplicative forms with values in VB-groupoids and study the Morita invariance of its cohomology.

Lie groupoids and the Frolicher-Nijenhuis bracket

The space of vector-valued forms on any manifold is a graded Lie algebra with respect to the Frolicher-Nijenhuis bracket. In this paper we consider multiplicative vector-valued forms on Lie groupoids and show that they naturally form a graded Lie subalgebra. Along the way, we discuss various examples and different characterizations of multiplicative vector-valued forms.

VB-algebroid morphisms and representations up to homotopy

We show in this paper that the correspondence between $2$-term representations up to homotopy and $\mathcal{VB}$-algebroids, established by Gracia-Saz and Mehta, holds also at the level of morphisms. This correspondence is hence an equivalence of categories. As an application, we study foliations and distributions on a Lie algebroid, that are compatible both with the linear structure and the Lie algebroid structure. In particular, we show how infinitesimal ideal systems in a Lie algebroid $A$ are related with subrepresentations of the adjoint representation of $A$.

Van Est isomorphism for homogeneous cochains

VB-groupoids define a special class of Lie groupoids which carry a compatible linear structure. In this paper, we show that their differentiable cohomology admits a refinement by considering the complex of cochains which are k-homogeneous on the linear fiber. Our main result is a Van Est theorem for such cochains. We also work out two applications to the general theory of representations of Lie groupoids and algebroids. The case k=1 yields a Van Est map for representations up to homotopy on 2-term graded vector bundles. Arbitrary k-homogeneous cochains on suitable VB-groupoids lead to a novel Van Est theorem for differential forms on Lie groupoids with values in a representation.

Generalized reduction and pure spinors

We study reduction of Dirac structures from the point of view of pure spinors. We describe explicitly the pure spinor line bundle of the reduced Dirac structure. We also obtain results on reduction of generalized Calabi-Yau structures.
