Non-Leaving-Face property for marked surfaces

We consider the polytope arising from a marked surface by flips of triangulations. Sleator, Tarjan and Thurston studied in 1988 the diameter of the associahedron, which is the polytope arising from a marked disc by flips of triangulations. They showed that every shortest path between two vertices in a face does not leave that face. We establish that same non-leaving-face property for all unpunctured marked surfaces.

Stability conditions, $τ$-tilting Theory and Maximal Green Sequences

Extending the notion of maximal green sequences to an abelian category, we characterize the stability functions, as defined by Rudakov, that induce a maximal green sequence in an abelian length category. Furthermore, we use $τ$-tilting theory to give a description of the wall and chamber structure of any finite dimensional algebra. Finally we introduce the notion of green paths in the wall and chamber structure of an algebra and show that green paths serve as geometrical generalization of maximal green sequences in this context.

Semi-invariant pictures and two conjectures on maximal green sequences

We use semi-invariant pictures to prove two conjectures about maximal green sequences. First: if $Q$ is any acyclic valued quiver with an arrow $j\to i$ of infinite type then any maximal green sequence for $Q$ must mutate at $i$ before mutating at $j$. Second: for any quiver $Q'$ obtained by mutating an acyclic valued quiver $Q$ of tame type, there are only finitely many maximal green sequences for $Q'$. Both statements follow from the Rotation Lemma for reddening sequences and this in turn follows from the Mutation Formula for the semi-invariant picture for $Q$.

Tagged mapping class groups: Auslander-Reiten translation

We give a geometric realization, the tagged rotation, of the AR-translation on the generalized cluster category associated to a surface $\mathbf{S}$ with marked points and non-empty boundary, which generalizes Brüstle-Zhang's result for the puncture free case. As an application, we show that the intersection of the shifts in the 3-Calabi-Yau derived category $\mathcal{D}(Γ_{\mathbf{S}})$ associated to the surface and the corresponding Seidel-Thomas braid group of $\mathcal{D}(Γ_{\mathbf{S}})$ is empty, unless $\mathbf{S}$ is a polygon with at most one puncture (i.e. of type A or D).

On Maximal Green Sequences

Maximal green sequences are particular sequences of quiver mutations appearing in the context of quantum dilogarithm identities and supersymmetric gauge theory. Interpreting maximal green sequences as paths in various natural posets arising in representation theory, we prove the finiteness of the number of maximal green sequences for cluster finite quivers, affine quivers and acyclic quivers with at most three vertices. We also give results concerning the possible numbers and lengths of these maximal green sequences.

A module-theoretic interpretation of Schiffler's expansion formula

We give a module-theoretic interpretation of Schiffler's expansion formula which is defined combinatorially in terms of complete (T,r)-paths in order to get the expansion of the cluster variables in the cluster algebra of a marked surface (S,M). Based on the geometric description of the indecomposable objects of the cluster category of the marked surface (S,M), we show the coincidence of Schiffler-Thomas' expansion formula and the cluster character defined by Palu.

On the Cluster Category of a Marked Surface

We study in this paper the cluster category C(S,M) of a marked surface (S,M). We explicitly describe the objects in C(S,M) as direct sums of homotopy classes of curves in (S,M) and one-parameter families related to closed curves in (S,M). Moreover, we describe the Auslander-Reiten structure of the category C(S,M) in geometric terms and show that the objects without self-extensions in C(S,M) correspond to curves in (S,M) without self-intersections. As a consequence, we establish that every rigid indecomposable object is reachable from an initial triangulation.

Gentle algebras arising from surface triangulations

In this paper, we associate an algebra A(T) to a triangulation T of a surface S with a set of boundary marking points. This algebra A(T) is gentle and Gorenstein of dimension one. We also prove that A(T) is cluster-tilted if and only if it is cluster-tilted of type A or A tilde, or if and only if the surface S is a disc or an annulus. Moreover all cluster-tilted algebras of type A or A tilde are obtained in this way.

Cluster-Cyclic Quivers with three Vertices and the Markov Equation

Acyclic cluster algebras have an interpretation in terms of tilting objects in a Calabi-Yau category defined by some hereditary algebra. For a given quiver $Q$ it is thus desirable to decide if the cluster algebra defined by $Q$ is acyclic. We call $Q$ cluster-acyclic in this case, otherwise cluster-cyclic. In this note we classify the cluster-cyclic quivers with three vertices using a Diophantine equation studied by Markov.

Estimate of the number of one-parameter families of modules over a tame algebra

The problem of classifying modules over a tame algebra A reduces to a block matrix problem of tame type whose indecomposable canonical matrices are zero- or one-parameter. Respectively, the set of nonisomorphic indecomposable modules of dimension at most d divides into a finite number f(d,A) of modules and one-parameter series of modules. We prove that the number of m-by-n canonical parametric block matrices with a given partition into blocks is bounded by 4^s, where s is the number of free entries (which is at most mn), and estimate the number f(d,A).

Mutation classes of skew-symmetric 3x3-matrices

In this paper, we establish a bijection between the set of mutation classes of mutation-cyclic skew-symmetric integral 3x3-matrices and the set of triples of integers (a,b,c) which are all greater than 1 and where the product of the two smaller numbers is greater than or equal to the maximal number. We also give an algorithm allowing to verify whether a matrix is mutation-cyclic or not. We prove that these two cases are not intertwined.

Cluster-tilted algebras as trivial extensions

Given a finite dimensional algebra $C$ (over an algebraically closed field) of global dimension at most two, we define its relation-extension algebra to be the trivial extension $C\ltimes \Ext_C^2(DC,C)$ of $C$ by the $C$-$C$-bimodule $\Ext_C^2(DC,C)$. We give a construction for the quiver of the relation-extension algebra in case the quiver of $C$ has no oriented cycles. Our main result says that an algebra $\tilde C$ is cluster-tilted if and only if there exists a tilted algebra $C$ such that $\tilde C$ is isomorphic to the relation-extension of $C$.

Cluster categories and duplicated algebras

Let $A$ be a hereditary algebra. We construct a fundamental domain for the cluster category of $A$ inside the category of modules over the duplicated algebra $\bar{A}$ of $A$. We then prove that there exists a bijection between the tilting objects in the cluster category and the tilting $\bar{A}$-modules all of whose non projective-injective indecomposable summands lie in the left part of the module category of $\bar{A}$.
