Semileptonic decays of the light J(P)=1/2(+) ground state baryon octet

We calculate the semileptonic baryon octet-octet transition form factors using a manifestly Lorentz covariant quark model approach based on the factorization of the contribution of valence quarks and chiral effects. We perform a detailed analysis of SU(3) breaking corrections to the hyperon semileptonic decay form factors. We present complete results on decay rates and asymmetry parameters including lepton mass effects for the rates.

Phenomenological Lagrangian approach to the electromagnetic deuteron form factors

A phenomenological Lagrangian approach is employed to study the electromagnetic properties of the deuteron. The deuteron is regarded as a weakly bound state of the proton and neutron. We construct a general form for the electromagnetic one- and two-body transition operators formulated in terms of the nucleon fields, which are then used in the calculation of the electromagnetic deuteron form factors. One of the two-body operators is responsible for explaining the quadrupole moment form factor. We show that in our approach the data on the deuteron form factors as well as on the differential cross section of elastic electron-deuteron scattering are well explained.

f0(980) meson as a K bar K molecule in a phenomenological Lagrangian approach

We discuss a possible interpretation of the f0(980) meson as a hadronic molecule - a bound state of K and bar K mesons. Using a phenomenological Lagrangian approach we calculate the strong f0(980) to pi pi and electromagnetic f0(980) to gamma gamma decays. The compositeness condition provides a self-consistent method to determine the coupling constant between f0 and its constituents, K and bar K. Form factors governing the decays of the f0(980) are calculated by evaluating the kaon loop integrals. The predicted f0(980) to pi pi and f0(980) to gamma gamma decay widths are in good agreement with available data and results of other theoretical approaches.

Molecular structure of the Bs0*(5725) and Bs1(5778) bottom-strange mesons

We discuss a possible interpretation of the scalar Bs0*(5725) and axial Bs1(5778) bottom-strange mesons as hadronic molecules - bound states of B K and B* K mesons, respectively. Using a phenomenological Lagrangian approach we analyze the strong Bs0* to Bs pi0, Bs1 to Bs* pi0 and the radiative Bs0* to Bs* gamma, Bs1 to Bs gamma, Bs1 to Bs* gamma, Bs1 to Bs0* gamma decays. We give predictions for the decay properties: effective couplings and decay widths.

Chiral corrections to the vector and axial couplings of quarks and baryons

We calculate chiral corrections to the semileptonic vector and axial quark coupling constants using a manifestly Lorentz covariant chiral quark approach up to order O(p4) in the two- and tree-flavor picture. These couplings are then used in the evaluation of the corresponding couplings which govern the semileptonic transitions between octet baryon states. In the calculation of baryon matrix elements we use a general ansatz for the spatial form of the quark wave function, without referring to a specific realization of hadronization and confinement of quarks in baryons. Matching the physical amplitudes calculated within our approach to the model-independent predictions of baryon chiral perturbation theory (ChPT) allows one to deduce the connection between our parameters and those of baryon ChPT.

Hadronic Molecules and the f0(980)/a0(980)

We discuss a possible interpretation of the f0(980) and a0(980) mesons as hadronic molecules - bound states of K and Kbar mesons. Using a phenomenological Lagrangian approach we calculate the strong f0(980) to pi pi and a0(980) to pi eta as well as the electromagnetic f0(980) to gamma gamma and a0(980) to gamma gamma decays. The covariant and gauge invariant model, which also allows for finite size effects of the hadronic molecule, delivers results in good agreement with available data and results of other theoretical approaches.

Estimate for the X(3872) to gamma J/psi decay width

The X(3872) resonance is considered as a hadronic molecule, a loosely-bound state of charmed D0 and D*0 mesons, since its mass is very close to the D*0 barD0 threshold. Assuming structure and quantum numbers of X(3872) as (D0 barD*0 - D*0 barD0)/sqrt(2) and J(PC) = 1(++), we calculate the X(3872) to gamma J/psi decay using a phenomenological Lagrangian approach. We also estimate the contribution of an additional c bar(c) component in the X(3872) to this decay width, which is shown to be suppressed relative to the one of the molecular configuration.

Pion dominance in RPV SUSY induced neutrinoless double beta decay

At the quark level there are basically two types of contributions of R-parity violating SUSY (RPV SUSY) to neutrinoless double beta decay: the short-range contribution involving only heavy virtual superpartners and the long-range one with the virtual squark and neutrino. Hadronization of the effective operators, corresponding to these two types of contributions, may in general involve virtual pions in addition to the close on-mass-shell nucleons. It is known that the short-range contribution is dominated by the pion exchange. In the present paper we show that this is also true for the long-range RPV SUSY contribution and, therefore, the RPV SUSY contributes to the neutrinoless double beta decay dominantly via charged pion exchange between the decaying nucleons.

On the two-photon decay width of the sigma meson

We shortly report on the two-photon decay width of the light $σ$-meson interpreted as a quarkonium state. Results are given in dependence on the $σ$-mass and the constituent mass of the light quark. The triangle quark-loop diagram, responsible for the two-photon transition, is carefully evaluated: a term in the transition amplitude, often omitted in literature, results in destructive interference with the leading term. As a result we show that the two-photon decay width of the $σ$ in the quarkonium picture is less than 1 keV for the physical range of parameters.

D* K molecular structure of the Ds1(2460) meson

We discuss a possible interpretation of the Ds1(2460) meson as a hadronic molecule - a bound state of D* and K mesons. Using a phenomenological Lagrangian approach we determine the strong Ds1 to Ds* pi0 and radiative Ds1 to Ds gamma decays. In order of magnitude our results for the partial strong and radiative decay widths are consistent with previous calculations.

Dependence of nucleon properties on pseudoscalar meson masses

We discuss the sensitivity of nucleon properties (mass, magnetic moments and electromagnetic form factors) on the variation of the pseudoscalar meson masses in the context of the perturbative chiral quark model. The obtained results are compared to data and other theoretical predictions.

Role of the rho meson in the description of pion electroproduction experiments at JLab

We study the p(e,e' pi+)n reaction in the framework of an effective Lagrangian approach including nucleon, pi and rho meson degrees of freedom and show the importance of the rho-meson t-pole contribution to sigmaT, the transverse part of cross section. We test two different field representations of the rho meson, vector and tensor, and find that the tensor representation of the rho meson is more reliable in the description of the existing data. In particular, we show that the rho-meson t-pole contribution, including the interference with an effective non-local contact term, sufficiently improves the description of the recent JLab data at invariant mass W less 2.2 GeV and Q2 less 2.5 GeV2/c2. A ``soft'' variant of the strong piNN and rhoNN form factors is also found to be compatible with these data. On the basis of the successful description of both the sigmaL and sigmaT parts of the cross section we discuss the importance of taking into account the sigmaT data when extracting the charge pion form factor Fpi from sigmaL.

Strong and radiative decays of the Ds0*(2317) meson in the DK-molecule picture

We consider a possible interpretation of the new charm-strange meson Ds0*(2317) as a hadronic molecule - a bound state of D and K mesons. Using an effective Lagrangian approach we calculate the strong Ds0* to Ds pi0 and radiative Ds0* to Ds* gamma decays. A new impact related to the DK molecular structure of the Ds0*(2317) meson is that the presence of u(d) quarks in the D and K mesons gives rise to a direct strong isospin-violating transition Ds0* to Ds pi0 in addition to the decay mechanism induced by eta-pi0 mixing considered previously. We show that the direct transition dominates over the eta-pi0 mixing transition in the Ds0* to Ds pi0 decay. Our results for the partial decay widths are consistent with previous calculations.

Ds0*(2317) and Ds1(2460) mesons in two-body B-meson decays

We analyze the branching ratios of B to D(*) + Ds0*(Ds1) decays using the factorization hypothesis. The B to D(*) transition form factors are taken from a model-independent analysis done by Caprini, Lellouch and Neubert based on heavy quark spin symmetry and dispersive constraints, including short-distance and power corrections. The leptonic decay constants fDs0* and fDs1 are calculated assuming a molecular structure for the Ds0* and Ds1 mesons. The calculated branching ratios of B-meson two-body decays are compared with experimental data and other theoretical results.

On the possible resolution of the B-meson decay polarization anomaly in R-parity violating SUSY

We examine the possible resolution of the recently observed polarization anomaly in B0(bar{B}0) -> phi K*0(bar{K}*0) decay within R-parity violating (RPV) SUSY. We show that a combination of the superpotential trilinear (RPV)-interactions, with the couplings lambda', and the soft SUSY breaking bilinear RPV, sneutrino-Higgs mixing, proportional to tilde{mu}**2, can potentially generate the effective operators with the chirality structure necessary to account for this anomaly. However, we demonstrate that the existing experimental data on Bs -> mu+ mu- decay lead to stringent upper limits on the Wilson coefficients of these operators, which are about two orders of magnitude below the values required for the resolution of the B-decay polarization anomaly, and, therefore, it can hardly be explained within the RPV SUSY framework. As a byproduct result of our analysis we derive new limits on the products of the soft bilinear and the superpotential trilinear RPV-parameters of the form tilde{mu}**2 * lambda'.

Implications of R-parity violating supersymmetry for atomic and hadronic EDMs

We calculate the electric dipole moments (EDM) of the neutral Hg(199) atom, deuteron, nucleons and neutral hyperons Lambda, Sigma(0) and Xi(0) in the framework of a generic SUSY model without R-parity conservation (RPV SUSY) on the basis of the SU(3) version of chiral perturbation theory (ChPT). We consider CP-violation in the hadronic sector induced by the chromoelectric quark dipole moments and CP-violating 4-quark effective interactions. From the null experimental results on the neutron and Hg(199) atom EDMs we derive limits on the imaginary parts of certain products Im(lambda' lambda'*) of the trilinear RPV-couplings and demonstrate that they are more stringent than those existing in the literature. Using these limits we give predictions for the EDMs of neutral hyperons. We also estimate the prospects of future storage ring experiments on the deuteron EDM and show that the expected improvement of the above limits in these experiments may reach several orders of magnitude.
