Moser-Trudinger and Beckner-Onofri's inequalities on the CR sphere

We derive sharp Moser-Trudinger inequalities on the CR sphere. The first type is in the Adams form, for powers of the sublaplacian and for general spectrally defined operators on the space of CR-pluriharmonic functions. We will then obtain the sharp Beckner-Onofri inequality for CR-pluriharmonic functions on the sphere, and, as a consequence, a sharp logarithmic Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality in the form given by Carlen and Loss.

Translation to Bundle Operators

We give explicit formulas for conformally invariant operators with leading term an $m$-th power of Laplacian on the product of spheres with the natural pseudo-Riemannian product metric for all $m$.

Q-Curvature, Spectral Invariants, and Representation Theory

We give an introductory account of functional determinants of elliptic operators on manifolds and Polyakov-type formulas for their infinitesimal and finite conformal variations. We relate this to extremal problems and to the Q-curvature on even-dimensional conformal manifolds. The exposition is self-contained, in the sense of giving references sufficient to allow the reader to work through all details.

Variational status of a class of fully nonlinear curvature prescription problems

Prescribing, by conformal transformation, the kth-elementary symmetric polynomial of the Schouten tensor $P$ to be constant is a generalisation of the Yamabe problem. On compact Riemannian n-manifolds we show that, for k between and including 3 and n, this prescription equation is an Euler-Lagrange equation of some action if and only if the structure is locally conformally flat.

Interactions of a String Inspired Graviton Field

We continue to explore the possibility that the graviton in two dimensions is related to a quadratic differential that appears in the anomalous contribution of the gravitational effective action for chiral fermions. A higher dimensional analogue of this field might exist as well. We improve the defining action for this diffeomorphism tensor field and establish a principle for how it interacts with other fields and with point particles in any dimension. All interactions are related to the action of the diffeomorphism group. We discuss possible interpretations of this field.
