Interplay of interactions, disorder and topology in the Haldane-Hubbard model

We investigate the ground-state phase diagram of the spinless Haldane-Hubbard model in the presence of quenched disorder, contrasting results obtained from both exact diagonalization as well as density matrix renormalization group, applied to a honeycomb cylinder. The interplay of disorder, interactions and topology gives rise to a rich phase diagram, and in particular highlights the possibility of a disorder-driven trivial-to-topological transition in the presence of finite interactions. That is, the topological Anderson insulator, demonstrated in non-interacting settings, is shown to be stable to the presence of sufficiently small interactions before a charge density wave Mott insulator sets in. We further perform a finite-size analysis of the transition to the ordered state in the presence of disorder, finding a mixed character of first and second order transitions in finite lattices, tied to specific conditions of disorder realizations and boundary conditions used.

Lifshitz phase transitions in one-dimensional Gamma model

In this paper, we study quantum phase transitions and magnetic properties of a one-dimensional spin-1/2 Gamma model, which describes the off-diagonal exchange interactions between edge-shared octahedra with strong spin-orbit couplings along the sawtooth chain. The competing exchange interactions between the nearest neighbors and the second neighbors stabilize semimetallic ground state in terms of spinless fermions, and give rise to a rich phase diagram, which consists of three gapless phases. We find distinct phases are characterized by the number of Weyl nodes in the momentum space, and such changes in the topology of the Fermi surface without symmetry breaking produce a variety of Lifshitz transitions, in which the Weyl nodes situating at $k=π$ interchange from type I to type II. A coexistence of type-I and type-II Weyl nodes is found in phase II. The information measures including concurrence, entanglement entropy and relative entropy can effectively signal the second-order transitions. The results indicate that the Gamma model can act as an exactly solvable model to describe Lifshitz phase transitions in correlated electron systems.

Criticality and factorization in the Heisenberg chain with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction

In this work, we address the ground state properties of the anisotropic spin-1/2 Heisenberg XYZ chain under the interplay of magnetic fields and the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction which we interpret as an electric field. The identification of the regions of enhanced sensitivity determines criticality in this model. We calculate the Wigner-Yanase skew information (WYSI) as a coherence witness of an arbitrary two-qubit state under specific measurement bases. The WYSI is demonstrated to be a good indicator for detecting the quantum phase transitions. The finite-size scaling of coherence susceptibility is investigated. We find that the factorization line in the antiferromagnetic phase becomes the factorization volume in the gapless chiral phase induced by DM interactions, implied by the vanishing concurrence for a wide range of field. We also present the phase diagram of the model with three phases: antiferromagnetic, paramagnetic, and chiral, and point out a few common mistakes in deriving the correlation functions for the systems with broken reflection symmetry.

Quantum coherence in a compass chain under an alternating magnetic field

We investigate quantum phase transitions and quantum coherence in a quantum compass chain under an alternating transverse magnetic field. The model can be analytically solved by the Jordan-Wigner transformation and this solution shows that it is equivalent to a two-component one-dimensional (1D) Fermi gas on a lattice. We explore mutual effects of the staggered magnetic interaction and multi-site interactions on the energy spectra and analyze the ground state phase diagram. We use quantum coherence measures to identify the quantum phase transitions. Our results show that $l_1$ norm of coherence fails to detect faithfully the quantum critical points separating a gapped phase from a gapless phase, which can be pinpointed exactly by relative entropy of coherence. Jensen-Shannon divergence is somewhat obscure at exception points. We also propose an experimental realization of such a 1D system using superconducting quantum circuits.
