Observation of quantum entanglement in $Λ\barΛ$ pair production via electron-positron annihilation

We report the observation of quantum entanglement in $Λ\barΛ$ pairs produced via electron-positron annihilation, specifically through the decay $J/ψ\to Λ\barΛ$. By analyzing the angular correlations of the subsequent weak decays $Λ\to pπ^-$ and $\barΛ \to \bar{p}π^+$, we derive normalized observables $\mathcal{O}_i~(i=0,1,\ldots,4)$ that distinguish entangled states from separable ones. Theoretical predictions for these observables are established, with violations of separable-state bounds serving as unambiguous signatures of entanglement. Experimental measurements at $\cosθ_Λ= 0$ yield $\mathcal{O}_{1\text{min}}^{\text{Observed}} = -0.7374\pm 0.0011\pm 0.0016$, significantly exceeding the classical limit of $-0.5$ with a statistical significance of 124.9$σ$. For $\left|\cosθ_Λ\right|<0.4883$, the observed $\mathcal{O}_{1}^{\text{Observed}}$ consistently exhibits $\mathcal{O}_{1}^{\text{Observed}} < -\frac{1}{2}$ with a statistical significance of at least 5$σ$. Since $69.3\%$ of the decay events involving $Λ\to p+π^-$ and $\barΛ\to \bar{p}+π^+$ are spacelike-separated, our results confirming the persistence of quantum entanglement in the $Λ\barΛ$ system provide strong support for the non-locality of quantum mechanics. The findings are consistent with theoretical expectations under decoherence-free conditions, highlighting the potential of hyperon pairs as probes for fundamental quantum phenomena.

The Stochastic Gravitational Wave Background from Primordial Gravitational Atoms

We propose a scenario of primordial gravitational atoms (PGAs), which may exist in the current and past universe due to spinning primordial black holes (PBHs) and very light bosonic fields. In a monochromatic mass scenario with a sizable dimensionless spin, which may arise in a short matter dominated (MD) era, we analyze the resulting stochastic gravitational wave background (SGWB) signal. Its spectrum is approximately characterized by a rising $\propto f^3$ followed by a falling $\propto f^{-1}$ where $f$ is the frequency. Then, we investigate the constraints and prospects of such a SGWB, and find that PGAs with a core mass $M_{\rm BH}\sim {\cal O}(10)~M_{\odot}$ and a cloud of light scalar with mass $μ\sim {\cal O} (10^{-13})$ eV could yield constraints even stronger than those from bare PBHs. Future detectors such as LISA, Taiji and TianQin are able to explore PGAs over a narrow and elongated strap in the $(μ,M_{\rm BH})$ plane, spanning over 10 orders of magnitude for the maximum spin, $10^{-8}~M_{\odot}\lesssim M_{\rm BH}\lesssim 10^4~M_{\odot}$, $10^{-16}~{\rm eV}\lesssim μ\lesssim 10^{-3}~\rm eV$. If the PGA is dressed with a vector cloud, the SGWB signal has a much better opportunity to be probed.

Fermion Masses and Mixings in String Theory with Dirac Neutrinos

Analyzing the supersymmetric Pati-Salam landscape on a $\mathbb{T}^6/(\mathbb{Z}_2\times \mathbb{Z}_2)$ orientifold in IIA string theory, we have found only two models that accurately account for all standard model fermion masses and mixings. The models are dual to each other under the exchange of two SU(2) sectors and feature 12 adjoint scalars, the maximum number allowed in the landscape, whose linear combination yields the two light Higgs eigenstates. Dirac neutrino-masses in normal ordering $(50.6,~10.6,~6.2)\pm 0.1$~meV satisfying both the experimental as well as swampland constraints.

Fermion masses and mixings in the supersymmetric Pati-Salam landscape from Intersecting D6-Branes

Recently, the complete landscape of three-family supersymmetric Pati-Salam models from intersecting D6-branes on a type IIA $\mathbb{T}^6/(\mathbb{Z}_2\times \mathbb{Z}_2)$ orientifold has been enumerated consisting of 33 independent models with distinct gauge coupling relations at the string scale. Here, we study the phenomenology of all such models by providing the detailed particle spectra and the analysis of the possible 3-point and the 4-point Yukawa interactions in order to accommodate all standard-model fermion masses and mixings. We find that only 17 models contain viable Yukawa textures to explain quarks masses, charged-leptons' masses, neutrino-masses, quarks' mixings and leptons' mixings. These viable models split into four classes, viz. a single model with 3 Higgs fields from the bulk and sixteen models with either 6, 9 or 12 Higgs from the $\mathcal{N}=2$ sector. The models perform successively better with the increasing number of Higgs pairs. Remarkably, the class of models with 12 Higgs naturally predicts the Dirac-type neutrino masses in normal ordering consistent with both the experimental constraints as well as the bounds from the swampland program.

Light right-handed Smuons at the LHC: Natural dark matter and $g_μ-2$ in an unexplored realm of the pMSSM

We introduce an in-depth study of an unprobed pMSSM region offering a natural solution to dark matter. Since the 1980s this region has been referred to as the "bulk", consisting of sub 200 GeV neutralinos and right-handed smuons. The bulk satisfies recent muon $g_μ-2$ measurements and sustains consistency with $all$ presently operating SUSY experiments and LHC constraints. Initial ingress into the bulk will arrive soon via the LUX-ZEPLIN 1000-day experiment. The ATLAS Collaboration at the LHC has confirmed that observation of these light right-handed smuon events can occur at the ongoing LHC Run 3 and forthcoming High-Luminosity LHC. Moreover, the future FCC-ee and CEPC circular colliders should handily observe the events.

The Light Neutralino Dark Matter in the Generalized Minimal Supergravity (GmSUGRA)

We investigate both the $Z$ and $H$ poles solutions for the Higgsino mass parameter $μ>0$ and $μ<0$ for the neutralino dark matter in light of the LHC supersymmetry searches and the direct detection dark matter experiments, LUX-ZEPLIN (LZ), in the Generalized Minimal Supergravity (GmSUGRA). Our study indicates that the latest experimental constraints from the LHC and LZ Collaborations exclude the light Higgsinos in the $Z$ and $H$ pole regions for the $μ>0$ case. Interestingly, for the $μ< 0$ case, a very light Higgsinos can still be consistent with the current constraints from the electroweakino searches and LZ experiment in the $Z$ and $H$ poles. Consequently, the $μ< 0$ case appears more promising and thus requires the dedicated efforts to make definitive conclusions about their current status from the experimental Collaborations. In this framework, our findings indicate a deviation of up to $2σ$ from the central value of \( a_μ\equiv (g-2)_μ/2 \), resonating with the experimental results reported by CMD and BDM.

Susy breaking soft terms in the supersymmetric Pati-Salam landscape from Intersecting D6-Branes

We investigate the supersymmetry breaking soft terms for all the viable models in the complete landscape of three-family supersymmetric Pati-Salam models arising from intersecting D6-branes on a $\mathbb{T}^6/(\mathbb{Z}_2\times \mathbb{Z}_2)$ orientifold in type IIA string theory. The calculations are performed in the general scenario of $u$-moduli dominance with the $s$-moduli turned on, where the soft terms remain independent of the Yukawa couplings and the Wilson lines. The results for the trilinear coupling, gaugino-masses, squared-mass parameters of squarks, sleptons and Higgs depend on the brane wrapping numbers and the susy breaking parameters. We find that unlike the Yukawa couplings which remain unchanged for the models dual under the exchange of two SU(2) sectors, the corresponding soft term parameters only match for the trilinear coupling and the mass of the gluino. This can be explained by the internal geometry where the Yukawa interactions depend only on the triangular areas of the worldsheet instantons while the soft terms have an additional dependence on the orientation-angles of D6-branes in the three two-tori. In the special limit of parameter space we find universal masses for the Higgs and the gauginos.

Development of generic no-scale inflation

We develop generalized no-scale supergravity models of inflation, and then study the corresponding cosmological predictions as well as the formation of primordial black holes (PBHs) and scalar-induced gravitational waves (SIGWs). With a new parameter $0<a\leq 1$, the generalized no-scale supergravity provides the continuous connections among the generic no-scale supergravity from string theory compactifications. The resulting prediction of the CMB, spectrum index $n_s$, and tensor-to-scalar ratio $r$ can be highly consistent with the latest Planck/BICEP/Keck Array observations. Notably, the models with $a\neq 1$ give a smaller ratio $r\leq 10^{-3}$, which is flexible even under the anticipated tighter observational constraints at the future experiments. Additionally, these models have the potential to generate a broad-band stochastic gravitational wave background, and thus explain the NANOGrav 15yr signal. Furthermore, they predict the formation of PBHs with various mass scales, which could account for a significant portion of dark matter relic density in the Universe.

Dark photon constraints from a 7.139 GHz cavity haloscope experiment

The dark photon is a promising candidate for the dark matter which comprises most of the matter in our visible Universe. Via kinetic mixing with the Standard Model it can also be resonantly converted to photons in an electromagnetic cavity, offering novel experimental possibilities for the discovery and study of dark matter. We report the results of a pathfinder dark photon dark matter cavity search experiment performed at Hunan Normal University and the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, representing the first stage of the APEX (Axion and dark Photon EXperiment) program. Finding no statistically significant excess, we place an upper limit on the kinetic mixing parameter $|χ|<3.7\times 10^{-13}$ around $m_A\simeq 29.5$ $μ$eV at 90% confidence level. This result exceeds other constraints on dark photon dark matter in this frequency range by roughly an order of magnitude.

The Right-Handed Slepton Bulk Region for Dark Matter in Generalized No-scale $\mathcal{F}$-$SU(5)$ with Effective Super-Natural Supersymmetry

We propose Generalized No-Scale Supergravity, the simplest scenario for Effective Super-Natural Supersymmetry, naturally solving the supersymmetry electroweak fine-tuning problem and including natural dark matter. A light right-handed slepton bulk region is realized in $\mathcal{F}$-$SU(5)$ and the pMSSM. The bulk may be beyond the LHC reach, though can be probed at the 1000-day LUX-ZEPLIN, Future Circular Collider (FCC-ee) at CERN, Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC), and Hyper-Kamiokande.

Revisiting the $\mathcal{N}=1$ supersymmetric trinification models from intersecting D6-branes

We revisit the construction of the $\mathcal{N}=1$ supersymmetric trinification models with gauge group $\mathrm{U}(3)_C\times \mathrm{U}(3)_L \times \mathrm{U}(3)_R$ in Type IIA string theory on $\mathbf{T^6/(\mathbb{Z}_2\times \mathbb{Z}_2)}$ orientifold with intersecting D6-branes. The non-trivial K-theory conditions and tadpole cancellation conditions severely restrict the number of allowed models even for the case of rectangular two-tori. Using a supervised search algorithm, we find a few four-family models where the highest wrapping number is 2. For these models, we present the complete particle spectra and the gauge coupling relations at the string-scale.

Calibration of the Cryogenic Measurement System of a Resonant Haloscope Cavity

Possible light bosonic dark matter interactions with the Standard Model photon have been searched by microwave resonant cavities. In this paper, we demonstrate the cryogenic readout system calibration of a 7.138 GHz copper cavity with a loaded quality factor $Q_l=10^4$, operated at 22 mK temperature based on a dilution refrigerator. Our readout system consists of High Electron Mobility Transistors as cryogenic amplifiers at 4 K, plus room-temperature amplifiers and a spectrum analyzer for signal power detection. We test the system with a superconducting two-level system as a single-photon source in the microwave frequency regime and report an overall 95.6 dB system gain and -71.4 dB attenuation in the cavity's input channel. The effective noise temperature of the measurement system is 7.5 K.

Clockwork axion footprint on nano-hertz stochastic gravitational wave background

The recent Pulsar Timing Arrays (PTAs) nano-Hz gravitational wave (GW) background signal can be naturally induced by the annihilation of domain walls (DWs) formed at a symmetry-breaking scale $f\simeq 200$~TeV in the clockwork axion framework. Based on our first successful and precise prediction, we for the first time suggest that the recent PTA observations strongly support the novel mechanism of the QCD instanton-induced DW annihilation in the clockwork axion framework. We also for the first time discover a novel correlation between dark matter (DM) relic abundance and nano-Hz GW background, which in turn indicates a natural connection between the axion decay constant and the symmetry-breaking scale in the clockwork framework. We find that the GW signal has a peak $h^2Ω_{\rm GW}\simeq 10^{-6.6}-10^{-6.1}$ at about 50~nHz, which is definite and testable for future PTA data at frequencies $\gtrsim 25$~nHz and CMB-S4 experiment. We also propose various phenomena that may appear in PTAs and future GW interferometers.

Three-family supersymmetric Pati-Salam models with symplectic groups from intersecting D6-branes

We construct new three-family ${\cal N}=1$ supersymmetric Pati-Salam models from intersecting D6-branes with original gauge group ${\rm U}(4)_C \times {\rm USp}(2)_L \times {\rm U}(2)_R$ on a Type IIA $\mathbb{T}^6/(\mathbb{Z}_2\times \mathbb{Z}_2)$ orientifold. We find that replacing a ${\rm U}(2)$ with a ${\rm USp}(2)$ group severely restricts the number of three-generation supersymmetric models such that there are only five inequivalent models. Exchanging the left and right sectors, we obtain five dual models with gauge group ${\rm U}(4)_C \times {\rm U}(2)_L \times {\rm USp}(2)_R$. These ten models have different gauge coupling relations at string scale. The highest wrapping number is 4, and one of the models contains no filler O6-planes. Moreover, we discuss in detail the particle spectra, the composite particles through strong coupling dynamics, and the exotic particle decouplings. Also, we study how to realize the string-scale gauge coupling relations in some models.

Non-standard neutrino interactions mediated by a light scalar at DUNE

We investigate the effect on neutrino oscillations generated by beyond-the-standard-model interactions between neutrinos and matter. Specifically, we focus on scalar-mediated non-standard interactions (NSI) whose impact fundamentally differs from that of vector-mediated NSI. Scalar NSI contribute as corrections to the neutrino mass matrix rather than the matter potential and thereby predict distinct phenomenology from the vector-mediated ones. Similar to vector-type NSI, the presence of scalar-mediated neutrino NSI can influence measurements of oscillation parameters in long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiments, with a notable impact on CP measurement in the case of DUNE. Our study focuses on the effect of scalar NSI on neutrino oscillations, using DUNE as an example. We introduce a model-independent parameterization procedure that enables the examination of the impact of all non-zero scalar NSI parameters simultaneously. Subsequently, we convert DUNE's sensitivity to the NSI parameters into projected sensitivity concerning the parameters of a light scalar model. We compare these results with existing non-oscillation probes. Our findings reveal that the region of the light scalar parameter space sensitive to DUNE is predominantly excluded by non-oscillation probes, except for scenarios with very light mediator mass.

The Right-Handed Slepton Bulk Regions for Dark Matter in the Generalized Minimal Supergravity (GmSUGRA)

We study the light right-handed slepton bulk regions for dark matter from the Generalized Minimal Supergravity (GmSUGRA) in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). In our comprehensive numerical studies, we show that $\mathcal{R_{\tildeϕ}}\gtrsim10\%$ is a conservative criteria to formulate bulk region, where $\mathcal{R_{\tildeϕ}}\equiv({m_{\tildeϕ}-m_{\tildeχ_1^0}})/{m_{\tildeχ_1^0}}$. For right-handed stau as the Next to the Lightest Supersymmetric Partcile (NLSP), we find a large viable parameter space, consistent with the current LHC constraints, Planck2018 dark matter relic density bounds, and direct bounds on neutralino-nucleons scattering cross-section that naturally supports the right-handed stau bulk regions for dark matter. In particular, the upper bounds on the masses of the Lightest Supersymmetric Particle (LSP) neutralino and right-handed stau are about 120.4 GeV and 138 GeV, respectively. This bulk region may be beyond the current LHC reach and could be probed at LUX-ZEPLIN, a next-generation dark matter direct detection experiment, the Future Circular Collider (FCC-ee) at CERN, and the Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC). However, the scenario with the right-handed selectron as the NLSP is excluded by the LHC supersymmetry searches.

Nuclear decay anomalies as a signature of axion dark matter

A number of nuclear decay anomalies have been reported in the literature, which purport to show periodic variations in the decay rates of certain radioisotopes. If these reports reflect reality, they would necessitate a seismic shift in our understanding of fundamental physics. We provide the first mechanism to explain these findings, via the misalignment mechanism of QCD axion dark matter, wherein oscillations of the effective $θ$ angle induce periodic variation in nuclear binding energies and hence decay rates. As we expect this effect to be most pronounced in low-$Q$ systems, we analyse 12 years of tritium decay data ($Q\simeq$ 18.6 keV) taken at the European Commission's Joint Research Centre. Finding no statistically significant excess, we exclude axion decay constants below $9.4\times10^{12} - 1.8\times10^{10}$ GeV (95% confidence level) for masses in the $1.7\times{10}^{-23} - 8.7\times 10^{-21}$ eV range.
