BatteryLake: Agentic, Physics-Grounded Curation of Heterogeneous Battery Aging Data and Benchmarking

Public battery aging datasets are a critical asset for advanced health management, but their practical use is often limited by inconsistent formats, unclear schemas, and metadata scattered across repositories and publications. Current curation remains largely manual and hard to reproduce, while general-purpose data integration tools miss the domain-specific semantics of electrochemical time-series data. We present BatteryLake, a governed data lakehouse that turns raw public battery data into benchmark-ready assets through an agentic, physics-grounded curation framework, with three contributions. First, LLM agents extract metadata and synthesize dataset-specific converters, grounding every output in verbatim evidence and abstaining when none supports a value. Second, a human-in-the-loop mechanism frames verification as selective prediction and gates admitted data through 26 schema, statistical, and physical-plausibility rules. Third, we release an open benchmark of 41 datasets from over 25 institutions, with standardized SOH and RUL tasks, three split protocols, and eight baseline model families. The platform, benchmark, and curation protocol are publicly available at https://tianwen1209.github.io/batterylake/.

Towards Intelligent Systems for Battery Management: A Five-Tier Digital Twin Architecture

As digital twin technologies are increasingly incorporated into battery management systems to meet the growing need for transparent and lifecycle-aware operation, existing battery digital twins still suffer from fragmented operational processes and lack an architectural perspective to coordinate modeling, inference, and decision-making throughout the battery lifecycle. To this end, we develop a unified five-tier battery digital twin framework that integrates key functionalities into a coherent pipeline and facilitates a clearer architectural understanding of digital twins. The five-tier comprises geometric modeling, descriptive analytics, physics-informed prediction, prescriptive optimization, and autonomous control. In quantitative evaluation, the resulting architecture achieves high-fidelity multi-physics calibration with 0.92\% voltage and 0.18\% temperature prediction error, and provides state-of-health estimation with 1.09\% MAPE and calibrated uncertainty. As the first battery digital twin system empowered by the NVIDIA ecosystem with physics-AI technologies, our proposed five-tier framework shifts battery management from reactive protection to an interpretable, predictive, and autonomous paradigm, paving the path to develop next-generation battery management and energy management systems.

From Interaction to Attitude: Exploring the Impact of Human-AI Cooperation on Mental Illness Stigma

AI conversational agents have demonstrated efficacy in social contact interventions for stigma reduction at a low cost. However, the underlying mechanisms of how interaction designs contribute to these effects remain unclear. This study investigates how participating in three human-chatbot interactions affects attitudes toward mental illness. We developed three chatbots capable of engaging in either one-way information dissemination from chatbot to a human or two-way cooperation where the chatbot and a human exchange thoughts and work together on a cooperation task. We then conducted a two-week mixed-methods study to investigate variations over time and across different group memberships. The results indicate that human-AI cooperation can effectively reduce stigma toward individuals with mental illness by fostering relationships between humans and AI through social contact. Additionally, compared to a one-way chatbot, interacting with a cooperative chatbot led participants to perceive it as more competent and likable, promoting greater empathy during the conversation. However, despite the success in reducing stigma, inconsistencies between the chatbot's role and the mental health context raised concerns. We discuss the implications of our findings for human-chatbot interaction designs aimed at changing human attitudes.

A Survey of Predictive Maintenance: Systems, Purposes and Approaches

This paper highlights the importance of maintenance techniques in the coming industrial revolution, reviews the evolution of maintenance techniques, and presents a comprehensive literature review on the latest advancement of maintenance techniques, i.e., Predictive Maintenance (PdM), with emphasis on system architectures, optimization objectives, and optimization methods. In industry, any outages and unplanned downtime of machines or systems would degrade or interrupt a company's core business, potentially resulting in significant penalties and immeasurable reputation and economic loss. Existing traditional maintenance approaches, such as Reactive Maintenance (RM) and Preventive Maintenance (PM), suffer from high prevent and repair costs, inadequate or inaccurate mathematical degradation processes, and manual feature extraction. The incoming fourth industrial revolution is also demanding for a new maintenance paradigm to reduce the maintenance cost and downtime, and increase system availability and reliability. Predictive Maintenance (PdM) is envisioned the solution. In this survey, we first provide a high-level view of the PdM system architectures including PdM 4.0, Open System Architecture for Condition Based Monitoring (OSA-CBM), and cloud-enhanced PdM system. Then, we review the specific optimization objectives, which mainly comprise cost minimization, availability/reliability maximization, and multi-objective optimization. Furthermore, we present the optimization methods to achieve the aforementioned objectives, which include traditional Machine Learning (ML) based and Deep Learning (DL) based approaches. Finally, we highlight the future research directions that are critical to promote the application of DL techniques in the context of PdM.
