Radio and X-ray flux rebrightening six years after outburst in a partially-obscured extreme changing-look AGN

SDSS J1548+2208 is a unique partially-obscured nuclear transient that exhibits multiwavelength outbursts in mid-infrared, X-ray and radio. We present the results from multiwavelength photometric and spectroscopic follow-up observations with a time span of ~2500 days since its discovery. We find that the mid-infrared and X-ray emission (with a hard X-ray spectrum) are still in a high flux level relative to the pre-flare state, suggesting a sudden increased, and possibly long-sustained accreting activity from central black hole. This is supported by the slowly-evolving high-ionization coronal lines. The mid-infrared color turns blue slowly in the rising phase, which is distinct from stellar tidal disruption events (TDEs). All these properties point to the origin of outbursts from an extreme changing-look AGN and the scenario with a normal TDE seems disfavored. The radio spectral energy distribution (SED) in ~0.65-15 GHz is unusual, displaying a double-peak feature with distinct variability characteristics. In addition, we find evidence for the late-time radio rebrightening more than six years since the initial outburst, as well as a possibly new X-ray flare, though the significance for the latter is not high. The peculiar radio flux and SED evolution could be explained by a nascent outflow expanding into and shocking circumnuclear diffuse medium filled by denser clouds. In this case, SDSS J1548+2208 represents a rare changing-look AGN which can launch radio outflows. Continued multiwavelength observations are required to map the dust and gas distribution on pc-scales, providing new insights into the environmental properties that could regulate AGN changing-look phenomenon.

LatencyPrism: Online Non-intrusive Latency Sculpting for SLO-Guaranteed LLM Inference

LLM inference latency critically determines user experience and operational costs, directly impacting throughput under SLO constraints. Even brief latency spikes degrade service quality despite acceptable average performance. However, distributed inference environments featuring diverse software frameworks and XPU architectures combined with dynamic workloads make latency analysis challenging. Constrained by intrusive designs that necessitate service restarts or even suspension, and by hardware-bound implementations that fail to adapt to heterogeneous inference environments, existing AI profiling methods are often inadequate for real-time production analysis. We present LatencyPrism, the first zero-intrusion multi-platform latency sculpting system. It aims to break down the inference latency across pipeline, proactively alert on inference latency anomalies, and guarantee adherence to SLOs, all without requiring code modifications or service restarts. LatencyPrism has been deployed across thousands of XPUs for over six months. It enables low-overhead real-time monitoring at batch level with alerts triggered in milliseconds. This approach distinguishes between workload-driven latency variations and anomalies indicating underlying issues with an F1-score of 0.98. We also conduct extensive experiments and investigations into root cause analysis to demonstrate LatencyPrism's capability. Furthermore, we introduce the first LLM anomaly simulation toolkit to facilitate future research in robust and predictable inference systems.

Dust-obscured radio-emitting tidal disruption event coincident with a high-energy neutrino event

Despite the growing number of high-energy neutrinos (TeV-PeV) detected by IceCube, their astrophysical origins remain largely unidentified. Recent observations have linked a few tidal disruption events (TDEs) to the production of high-energy neutrino emission, all of which display dust-reprocessed infrared flares, indicating a dust- and gas-rich environment. By cross-matching the neutrino events and a sample of mid-infrared outbursts in nearby galaxies with transient radio flares, we uncover an optically obscured TDE candidate, SDSS J151345.75 $+$ 311125.2, which shows both spatial and temporal coincidence with the sub-PeV neutrino event IC170514B. Using a standard equipartition analysis of the synchrotron spectral evolution spanning 605 days post mid-infrared discovery, we find a little evolution in the radio-emitting region, with a kinetic energy up to $10^{51}$ erg, depending on the outflow geometry and shock acceleration efficiency assumed. High-resolution European VLBI Network imaging reveals a compact radio emission that is unresolved at a scale of $<$ 2.1 pc, with a brightness temperature of $T_b>5\times10^6$ K, suggesting that the observed late-time radio emission might originate from the interaction between a decelerating outflow and a dense circumnuclear medium. If the association is genuine, the neutrino production is possibly related to the acceleration of protons through pp collisions during the outflow expanding process, implying that the outflow-cloud interaction could provide a physical site with a high-density environment for producing the sub-PeV neutrinos. Such a scenario can be tested with future identifications of radio transients coincident with high-energy neutrinos.

Discovery of a years-delayed radio flare from an unusually slow-evolved tidal disruption event

SDSS J1115+0544 is a unique low-ionization nuclear emission-line region (LINER) galaxy with energetic ultraviolet (UV), optical and mid-infrared outbursts occurring in its nucleus. We present the results from an analysis of multi-wavelength photometric and radio follow-up observations covering a period of ~9 years since its discovery. We find that following a luminosity plateau of ~500 days, the UV/optical emission has decayed back to the pre-outburst level, suggesting that the nuclear outburst might be caused by a stellar tidal disruption event (TDE). In this case, SDSS J1115+0544 could be an unusually slow-evolved optical TDE with longest rise and decline time-scales ever found. Three years later than the optical peak, a delayed radio brightening was found with a 5.5 GHz luminosity as high as ~1.9x10^39 erg/s. Using a standard equipartition analysis, we find the outflow powering the radio emission was launched at t~1260 days with a velocity of beta<~0.1 and kinetic energy of E_K~>10^50 erg. The delayed radio brightening coupled with the disappearing plateau in the UV/optical light curves is consistent with the scenario involving delayed ejection of an outflow from a state transition in the disk. SDSS J1115+0544 is the first TDE displaying both a short-lived UV/optical plateau emission and a late-time radio brightening. Future radio observations of these TDEs in the post-plateau decay phase will help to establish the connection between outflow launching and changes in accretion rate.

Large Language Model-Enhanced Interactive Agent for Public Education on Newborn Auricular Deformities

Auricular deformities are quite common in newborns with potential long-term negative effects of mental and even hearing problems.Early diagnosis and subsequent treatment are critical for the illness; yet they are missing most of the time due to lack of knowledge among parents. With the help of large language model of Ernie of Baidu Inc., we derive a realization of interactive agent. Firstly, it is intelligent enough to detect which type of auricular deformity corresponding to uploaded images, which is accomplished by PaddleDetection, with precision rate 75\%. Secondly, in terms of popularizing the knowledge of auricular deformities, the agent can give professional suggestions of the illness to parents. The above two effects are evaluated via tests on volunteers with control groups in the paper. The agent can reach parents with newborns as well as their pediatrician remotely via Internet in vast, rural areas with quality medical diagnosis capabilities and professional query-answering functions, which is good news for newborn auricular deformity and other illness that requires early intervention for better treatment.

Delayed and fast rising radio flares from an optical and X-ray detected tidal disruption event in the center of a dwarf galaxy

AT2018cqh is a unique tidal disruption event (TDE) candidate discovered in a dwarf galaxy. Both the light curve fitting and galaxy scaling relationships suggest a central black hole mass in the range of 5.9 175 days, a flattening lasting about 544 days, and a phase with another steep rise. The rapid rise in radio flux coupled with the slow decay in the X-ray emission points to a delayed launching of outflow, perhaps due to a transition in the accretion state. However, known accretion models can hardly explain the origins of the secondary radio flare that is rising even more rapidly in comparison with the initial one. If confirmed, AT2018cqh would be a rare TDE in a dwarf galaxy exhibiting optical, X-ray and radio flares. We call for continued multi-frequency radio observations to monitor its spectral and temporal evolution, which may help to reveal new physical processes that are not included in standard TDE models.

Joint Constraints on the Hubble Constant, Spatial Curvature, and Sound Horizon from the Late-time Universe with Cosmography

In this paper, using the latest Pantheon+ sample of Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia), Baryon Acoustic Oscillation (BAO) measurements, and observational Hubble data (OHD), we carry out a joint constraint on the Hubble constant $H_0$, the spatial curvature $Ω_{\rm K}$, and the sound horizon at the end of drag epoch $r_{\rm d}$. To be model-independent, four cosmography models, i.e., the Taylor series in terms of redshift $y_1=z/(1+z)$, $y_2=\arctan(z)$, $y_3=\ln(1+z)$, and the Padé approximants, are used without the assumption of flat Universe. The results show that the $H_0$ is anti-correlated with $Ω_{\rm K}$ and $r_{\rm d}$, indicating smaller $Ω_{\rm K}$ or $r_{\rm d}$ would be helpful in alleviating the Hubble tension. And the values of $H_0$ and $r_{\rm d}$ are consistent with the estimate derived from the Planck Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) data based on the flat $Λ$CDM model, but $H_0$ is in 2.3$\sim$3.0$σ$ tension with that obtained by \cite{Riess2022} in all these cosmographic approaches. Meanwhile, a flat Universe is preferred by the present observations under all approximations except the third order of $y_1$ and $y_2$ of the Taylor series. Furthermore, according to the values of the Bayesian evidence, we found that the flat $Λ$CDM remains to be the most favored model by the joint datasets, and the Padé approximant of order (2,2), the third order of $y_3$ and $y_1$ are the top three cosmographic expansions that fit the datasets best, while the Taylor series in terms of $y_2$ are essentially ruled out.
