Making Smart Homes Fit for Autistic Children: Family Work and Monitored Independence

General-purpose smart-home technologies are increasingly present in family life, yet how they support or disrupt autistic children and families with autistic children remains underexamined. We conducted a multi-source qualitative study drawing on five caregiver interviews, Xiaohongshu (also known internationally as RedNote) posts explicitly situated in autism contexts, and contextual posts from Xiaohongshu and Weibo. We find that families create support for autistic children by adapting environmental outputs, prompts, and interaction channels, while sensory intensity, communicative rules, and opaque operating states can turn the same technologies into barriers. Support also depends on continuing family work, including translation, configuration, modification, maintenance, and boundary-setting. Remote monitoring enables conditional independence while generating tensions among safety, privacy, and control. We contribute three concepts, including relational fit, family work as support infrastructure, and monitored independence, for understanding accessible domestic technology. We derive design implications for adjustable interaction, legible and recoverable failure, lower-burden configuration, and negotiable monitoring.

The Gaussian-Minkowski problem for $C$-pseudo-cones

The Gaussian surface area measures for $C$-pseudo-cones are studied in this paper. Using the variational arguments and the approximation methods of Schneider, we obtain the existence of solutions to the Gaussian-Minkowski problem for $C$-pseudo-cones with small co-volume.

Dual Brunn-Minkowski inequality for C-star bodies

In this paper, we consider the concept of $C$-star body in a fixed pointed closed convex cone $C$ and study the dual mixed volume for $C$-star bodies. For $C$-star bodies, we establish the corresponding dual Brunn-Minkowski inequality, the dual Minkowski inequality and the dual Aleksandrov-Fenchel inequality. Our dual Brunn-Minkowski inequality for $C$-star bodies strengthens Schneider's Brunn-Minkowski inequality for $C$-coconvex sets.

Multiply-and-Fire (MNF): An Event-driven Sparse Neural Network Accelerator

Machine learning, particularly deep neural network inference, has become a vital workload for many computing systems, from data centers and HPC systems to edge-based computing. As advances in sparsity have helped improve the efficiency of AI acceleration, there is a continued need for improved system efficiency for both high-performance and system-level acceleration. This work takes a unique look at sparsity with an event (or activation-driven) approach to ANN acceleration that aims to minimize useless work, improve utilization, and increase performance and energy efficiency. Our analytical and experimental results show that this event-driven solution presents a new direction to enable highly efficient AI inference for both CNN and MLP workloads. This work demonstrates state-of-the-art energy efficiency and performance centring on activation-based sparsity and a highly-parallel dataflow method that improves the overall functional unit utilization (at 30 fps). This work enhances energy efficiency over a state-of-the-art solution by 1.46$\times$. Taken together, this methodology presents a novel, new direction to achieve high-efficiency, high-performance designs for next-generation AI acceleration platforms.
