Complete cohomology for extriangulated categories

Let $(\mathcal{C},\mathbb{E},\mathfrak{s})$ be an extriangulated category with a proper class $ξ$ of $\mathbb{E}$-triangles. In this paper, we study complete cohomology of objects in $(\mathcal{C},\mathbb{E},\mathfrak{s})$ by applying $ξ$-projective resolutions and $ξ$-injective coresolutions constructed in $(\mathcal{C},\mathbb{E},\mathfrak{s})$. Vanishing of complete cohomology detects objects with finite $ξ$-projective dimension and finite $ξ$-injective dimension. As a consequence, we obtain some criteria for the validity of the Wakamatsu Tilting Conjecture and give a necessary and sufficient condition for a virtually Gorenstein algebra to be Gorenstein. Moreover, we give a general technique for computing complete cohomology of objects with finite $ξ$-$\mathcal{G}$projective dimension. As an application, the relationships between $ξ$-projective dimensions and $ξ$-$\mathcal{G}$projective dimensions for objects in $(\mathcal{C},\mathbb{E},\mathfrak{s})$ are given.

Remarks on Gorenstein weak injective and weak flat modules

In this paper, we introduce the notions of Gorenstein weak injective and weak flat modules respectively in terms of weak injective and weak flat modules, which is larger than classical classes of Gorenstein injective and flat modules. In this new setting, we characterize rings over which all modules are Gorenstein weak injective. Moreover, we also discuss a relation between weak cosyzygy and Gorenstein weak cosyzygy of a module, and the stability of Gorenstein weak injective modules.

Special Precovered Categories of Gorenstein Categories

Let $\mathscr{A}$ be an abelian category and $\mathscr{P}(\mathscr{A})$ the subcategory of $\mathscr{A}$ consisting of projective objects. Let $\mathscr{C}$ be a full, additive and self-orthogonal subcategory of $\mathscr{A}$ with $\mathscr{P}(\mathscr{A})$ a generator, and let $\mathcal{G}(\mathscr{C})$ be the Gorenstein subcategory of $\mathscr{A}$. Then the right 1-orthogonal category ${\mathcal{G}(\mathscr{C})^{\bot_1}}$ of $\mathcal{G}(\mathscr{C})$ is both projectively resolving and injectively coresolving in $\mathscr{A}$. We also get that the subcategory $\spc(\mathcal{G}(\mathscr{C}))$ of $\mathscr{A}$ consisting of objects admitting special $\mathcal{G}(\mathscr{C})$-precovers is closed under extensions and $\mathscr{C}$-stable direct summands (*). Furthermore, if $\mathscr{C}$ is a generator for $\mathcal{G}(\mathscr{C})^{\perp_1}$, then we have that $\spc(\mathcal{G}(\mathscr{C}))$ is the minimal subcategory of $\mathscr{A}$ containing $\mathcal{G}(\mathscr{C})^{\perp_1}\cup \mathcal{G}(\mathscr{C})$ with respect to the property (*), and that $\spc(\mathcal{G}(\mathscr{C}))$ is $\mathscr{C}$-resolving in $\mathscr{A}$ with a $\mathscr{C}$-proper generator $\mathscr{C}$.

Foxby equivalence relative to $C$-weak injective and $C$-weak flat modules

Let $S$ and $R$ be rings and $_SC_R$ a (faithfully) semidualizing bimodule. We introduce and study $C$-weak flat and $C$-weak injective modules as a generalization of $C$-flat and $C$-injective modules (J. Math. Kyoto Univ. 47(2007), 781-808) respectively, and use them to provide additional information concerning the important Foxby equivalence between the subclasses of the Auslander class $\mathcal{A}_C(R)$ and that of the Bass class $\mathcal{B}_C(S)$. Then we study the stability of Auslander and Bass classes, which enables us to give some alternative characterizations of the modules in $\mathcal{A}_C(R)$ and $\mathcal{B}_C(S)$. Finally we consider an open question which is closely relative to the main results (Proc. Edinb. Math. Soc. 48(2005), 75-90), and discuss the relationship between the Bass class $\mathcal{B}_C(S)$ and the class of Gorenstein injective modules.

Homological properties of modules with finite weak injective and weak flat dimensions

In this paper, we define a class of relative derived functors in terms of left or right weak flat resolutions to compute the weak flat dimension of modules. Moreover, we investigate two classes of modules larger than that of weak injective and weak flat modules, study the existence of covers and preenvelopes, and give some applications.

Relative FP-injective and FP-flat complexes and their model structures

In this paper, we introduce the notions of ${\rm FP}_n$-injective and ${\rm FP}_n$-flat complexes in terms of complexes of type ${\rm FP}_n$. We show that some characterizations analogous to that of injective, FP-injective and flat complexes exist for ${\rm FP}_n$-injective and ${\rm FP}_n$-flat complexes. We also introduce and study ${\rm FP}_n$-injective and ${\rm FP}_n$-flat dimensions of modules and complexes, and give a relation between them in terms of Pontrjagin duality. The existence of pre-envelopes and covers in this setting is discussed, and we prove that any complex has an ${\rm FP}_n$-flat cover and an ${\rm FP}_n$-flat pre-envelope, and in the case $n \geq 2$ that any complex has an ${\rm FP}_n$-injective cover and an ${\rm FP}_n$-injective pre-envelope. Finally, we construct model structures on the category of complexes from the classes of modules with bounded ${\rm FP}_n$-injective and ${\rm FP}_n$-flat dimensions, and analyze several conditions under which it is possible to connect these model structures via Quillen functors and Quillen equivalences.

Phantom ideals and cotorsion pairs in extriangulated categories

In this paper, we introduce and study relative phantom morphisms in extriangulated categories defined by Nakaoka and Palu. Then using their properties, we show that if $(\C,\E,\s)$ is an extriangulated category with enough injective objects and projective objects, then there exists a bijective correspondence between any two of the following classes: (1) special precovering ideals of $\C$; (2) special preenveloping ideals of $\C$; (3) additive subfunctors of $\E$ having enough special injective morphisms; and (4) additive subfunctors of $\E$ having enough special projective morphisms. Moreover, we show that if $(\C,\E,\s)$ is an extriangulated category with enough injective objects and projective morphisms, then there exists a bijective correspondence between the following two classes: (1) all object-special precovering ideals of $\C$; (2) all additive subfunctors of $\E$ having enough special injective objects.
