Motion of a classical object with oscillating mass

We examine the problem of motion of an oscillating mass object provided no external force is applied to it. Calculations directly lead to the conclusion that the body accelerates in each system of reference except for the rest reference frame. Although its motion is periodic, it bears no resemblance to harmonic oscillations.

The Velocity Tensor and the Momentum Tensor

This paper introduces a new object called the momentum tensor. Together with the velocity tensor it forms a basis for establishing the tensorial picture of classical and relativistic mechanics. Some properties of the momentum tensor are derived as well as its relation with the velocity tensor. For the sake of clarity only two-dimensional case is investigated. However, general conclusions are also valid for higher dimensional spacetimes.

On the Velocity Tensors

A new object, called the velocity tensor, is introduced. It allows to formulate a generally covariant mechanics. Some properties of the velocity tensor are derived.

Comparison of Two Stationary Spherical Accretion Models

The general relativistic accretion onto a black hole is investigated in which the motion is steady and spherically symmetrical, the gas being at rest at infinity. Two models with different equations of state are compared. Numerical calculations show that the predictions of the models are similar in most aspects. In the ultrarelativistic regime the allowed band of the asymptotic speed of sound and the mass accretion rate can be markedly different.
