Improvement of superconducting properties by high mixing entropy at blocking layers in BiS2-based superconductor REO0.5F0.5BiS2

To investigate the interlayer interaction in the recently synthesized high-entropy-alloy-type (HEA-type) REO0.5F0.5BiS2 superconductors (RE: rare earth), we have systematically synthesized samples with close lattice parameters and different mixing entropy (DSmix) for the RE site. The crystal structure was investigated using synchrotron X-ray diffraction and Rietveld refinement. For the examined samples with different DSmix, the increase in DSmix does not largely affect the bond lengths and the bond angle of the BiS2 conducting layer but clearly suppresses the in-plane disorder at the in-plane S1 site, which is the parameter essential for the emergence of bulk superconductivity in the REO0.5F0.5BiS2 system. Bulk nature of superconductivity is enhanced by the increase in DSmix for the present samples. The results of this work clearly show that the increase in mixing entropy at the blocking layer can positively affect the emergence of bulk superconductivity in the conducting layer, which is the evidence of the interaction between the high entropy states of the blocking layers and the physical properties of the conducting layers.

Current status and future prospects of the singlet-doublet dark matter model with $CP$ violation

We discuss the singlet-doublet fermion dark matter model with CP-violation. In this model, the CP-violation generates a pseudo-scalar interaction of dark matter with the SM-Higgs boson. Thanks to the pseudo-scalar interaction, the model can evade the strong constraint from the dark matter direct detection experiments while keeping the success of the thermal relic scenario. The CP-violation also predicts signals in dark matter indirect detection experiments and electric dipole moments (EDM) that can be as large as the current upper bound. We investigate the constraints and prospects of the direct detection experiments, the indirect detection experiment, and the electron EDM. We also investigate the stability of the Higgs potential. Combining these observables, we find that heavy dark matter is disfavored. We also find it is possible to probe the Higgs funnel region by the combination of the direct detection experiments and the measurements of the electron EDM if experiments for the electron EDM reach to $O(10^{ -32})$ e cm in future.

LHC Dark Matter Working Group: Next-generation spin-0 dark matter models

Dark matter (DM) simplified models are by now commonly used by the ATLAS and CMS Collaborations to interpret searches for missing transverse energy ($E_T^\mathrm{miss}$). The coherent use of these models sharpened the LHC DM search program, especially in the presentation of its results and their comparison to DM direct-detection (DD) and indirect-detection (ID) experiments. However, the community has been aware of the limitations of the DM simplified models, in particular the lack of theoretical consistency of some of them and their restricted phenomenology leading to the relevance of only a small subset of $E_T^\mathrm{miss}$ signatures. This document from the LHC Dark Matter Working Group identifies an example of a next-generation DM model, called $\textrm{2HDM+a}$, that provides the simplest theoretically consistent extension of the DM pseudoscalar simplified model. A comprehensive study of the phenomenology of the $\textrm{2HDM+a}$ model is presented, including a discussion of the rich and intricate pattern of mono-$X$ signatures and the relevance of other DM as well as non-DM experiments. Based on our discussions, a set of recommended scans are proposed to explore the parameter space of the $\textrm{2HDM+a}$ model through LHC searches. The exclusion limits obtained from the proposed scans can be consistently compared to the constraints on the $\textrm{2HDM+a}$ model that derive from DD, ID and the DM relic density.

Electric dipole moments and dark matter in a CP violating MSSM

We investigate electric dipole moments (EDMs) in a CP-violating minimal supersymmetric standard model with the Bino-like neutralino dark matter (DM) annihilating through the heavy Higgs funnel. Motivated by the current experimental results, in particular, the measured mass of the standard model-like Higgs boson, we consider a mass spectrum with stop masses of about 10 TeV. For the other sfermions, we consider masses of about 100 TeV. We show that CP-violating phases of the order of ten degrees in gaugino and Higgsino mass parameters are consistent with the current bound by EDMs of the electron, the neutron, and the mercury. They are within the reach of future experiments. We also show that effects of CP-violating phases induce a difference in DM-nucleon scattering cross section by a factor.

Model independent evaluation of the Wilson coefficient of the Weinberg operator in QCD

We derive a Wilson coefficient of a CP-violating purely gluonic dimension-6 operator called the Weinberg operator ($GG\tilde{G}$) generated by a scalar and two fermions at the two-loop level. We do not specify the representation of SU(3)$_c$ for the scalar and the fermions, and thus our result can be applied to a variety of models beyond the standard model. We estimate the nucleon EDMs induced by the Weinberg operator in some examples and discuss the importance of measuring EDMs. It is found that future measurements of the EDMs can probe physics at higher energy scale beyond the reach of collider experiments.

Synthesis, Crystal Structure, and Physical Properties of New Layered Oxychalcogenide La2O2Bi3AgS6

We have synthesized a new layered oxychalcogenide La2O2Bi3AgS6. From synchrotron X-ray diffraction and Rietveld refinement, the crystal structure of La2O2Bi3AgS6 was refined using a model of the P4/nmm space group with a = 4.0644(1) Å and c = 19.412(1) Å, which is similar to the related compound LaOBiPbS3, while the interlayer bonds (M2-S1 bonds) are apparently shorter in La2O2Bi3AgS6. The tunneling electron microscopy (TEM) image confirmed the lattice constant derived from Rietveld refinement (c ~ 20 Å). The electrical resistivity and Seebeck coefficient suggested that the electronic states of La2O2Bi3AgS6 are more metallic than those of LaOBiS2 and LaOBiPbS3. The insertion of a rock-salt-type chalcogenide into the van der Waals gap of BiS2-based layered compounds, such as LaOBiS2, will be a useful strategy for designing new layered functional materials in the layered chalcogenide family.

Discrimination of dark matter models in future experiments

Phenomenological aspects of simple dark matter models are studied. We discuss ways to discriminate the dark matter models in future experiments. We find that the measurements of the branching fraction of the Higgs boson into two photons and the electric dipole moment of the electron as well as the direct detection experiments are quite useful in discriminating particle models of dark matter. We also discuss the prospects of finding new particles in dark sector at the LHC/ILC.

Effect of CP violation in the singlet-doublet dark matter model

We revisit the singlet-doublet dark matter model with a special emphasis on the effect of CP violation on the dark matter phenomenology. The CP violation in the dark sector induces a pseudoscalar interaction of a fermionic dark matter candidate with the SM Higgs boson. The pseudoscalar interaction helps the dark matter candidate evade the strong constraints from the dark matter direct detection experiments. We show that the model can explain the measured value of the dark matter density even if dark matter direct detection experiments do not observe any signal. We also show that the electron electric dipole moment is an important complement to the direct detection for testing this model. Its value is smaller than the current upper bound but within the reach of future experiments.

Muon specific two-Higgs-doublet model

We investigate a new type of a two-Higgs-doublet model as a solution of the muon $g-2$ anomaly. We impose a softly-broken $Z_4$ symmetry to forbid tree level flavor changing neutral currents in a natural way. This $Z_4$ symmetry restricts the structure of Yukawa couplings. As a result, extra Higgs boson couplings to muons are enhanced by a factor of $\tanβ$, while their couplings to all the other standard model fermions are suppressed by $\cotβ$. Thanks to this coupling property, we can avoid the constraint from leptonic $τ$ decays in contrast to the lepton specific two-Higgs-doublet model, which can explain the muon $g-2$ within the 2$σ$ level but cannot within the $1σ$ level due to this constraint. We find that the model can explain the muon $g-2$ within the 1$σ$ level satisfying constraints from perturbative unitarity, vacuum stability, electroweak precision measurements, and current LHC data.

Classification of simple heavy vector triplet models

We investigate decay modes of spin-1 heavy vector bosons ($V'$) from the viewpoint of perturbative unitarity in a model-independent manner. Perturbative unitarity requires some relations among couplings. The relations are called unitarity sum rules. We derive the unitarity sum rules from processes that contain two fermions and two gauge bosons. We find the relations between $V'$ couplings to the SM fermions $(f)$ and $V'$ couplings to the SM gauge bosons ($V$). Using the coupling relations, we calculate partial decay widths for $V'$ decays into $VV$ and $ff$. We show that Br($W' \to WZ) \lesssim$ 2$\%$ in the system that contains $V'$ and CP-even scalars as well as the SM particles. This result is independent of the number of the CP-even scalars. We also show that contributions of CP-odd scalars help to make Br($W' \to WZ$) larger than Br($W' \to ff$) as long as the CP-odd scalars couple to both the SM fermions and the SM gauge bosons. The existence of the CP-odd scalar couplings is a useful guideline to construct models that predict Br($W' \to WZ) \gtrsim$ 2$\%$. Our analysis relies only on the perturbative unitarity of $f\bar{f} \to WW'$. Therefore our result can be applied to various models.

Dark matter physics, flavor physics and LHC constraints in the dark matter model with a bottom partner

In the scenario that a dark matter (DM) is a weakly interacting massive particle, there are many possibilities of the interactions with the Standard Model (SM) particles to achieve the relic density of DM. In this paper, we consider one simple DM model where the DM candidate is a complex scalar and interacts with the SM particles via exchange of the Higgs particle and an extra quark, named bottom partner. The extra quark carries the same quantum number as the right-handed down-type quarks and has Yukawa couplings with the DM candidate and the right-handed down-type quarks. The Yukawa interactions are not only relevant to the thermal relic density of the DM, but also contribute to the flavor physics, such as the $ΔF=2$ processes. In addition, the flavor alignment of the Yukawa couplings is related to the decay modes of the extra quark. Then, we can find the explicit correlations among the physical observables in DM physics, flavor physics and the signals at the LHC. Based on the numerical analyses of the thermal relic density, the direct detection of the DM and the current LHC bounds using the latest results, we survey our predictions for the $ΔF=2$ processes. We investigate the perturbative bound on the Yukawa coupling, as well. Study of a fermionic DM model with extra scalar quarks is also given for comparison.

Emergent two-Higgs doublet models

We investigate origin of three features that are often assumed in analysis of two-Higgs doublet models: (i) softly broken Z2 symmetry, (ii) CP invariant Higgs potential, and (iii) degenerated mass spectra. We extend electroweak gauge symmetry, introducing extra gauge symmetry and extra scalars, and we show that our models effectively derive two-Higgs dou- blet models at low energy which naturally hold the three features. We also find that the models can solve the strong CP problem.

Gauge invariant Barr-Zee type contributions to fermionic EDMs in the two-Higgs doublet models

We calculate all gauge invariant Barr-Zee type contributions to fermionic electric dipole moments (EDMs) in the two-Higgs doublet models (2HDM) with softly broken Z2 symmetry. We start by studying the tensor structure of h to VV' part in the Barr-Zee diagrams, and we calculate the effective couplings in a gauge invariant way by using the pinch technique. Then we calculate all Barr-Zee diagrams relevant for electron and neutron EDMs. We make bounds on the parameter space in type-I, type-II, type-X, and type-Y 2HDMs. The electron and neutron EDMs are complementary to each other in discrimination of the 2HDMs. Type-II and type-X 2HDMs are strongly constrained by recent ACME experiment's result, and future experiments of electron and neutron EDMs may search O(10) TeV physics.

Prospects for Spin-1 Resonance Search at 13 TeV LHC and the ATLAS Diboson Excess

Motivated by ATLAS diboson excess around 2 TeV, we investigate a phenomenology of spin-1 resonances in a model where electroweak sector in the SM is weakly coupled to strong dynamics. The spin-1 resonances, W' and Z', are introduced as effective degrees of freedom of the dynamical sector. We explore several theoretical constraints by investigating the scalar potential of the model as well as the current bounds from the LHC and precision measurements. It is found that the main decay modes are V' -> VV and V' -> Vh, and the V' width is narrow enough so that the ATLAS diboson excess can be explained. In order to investigate future prospects, we also perform collider simulations at the 13 TeV LHC, and obtain a model independent expected exclusion limit for the process pp -> W' -> WZ -> JJ. We find a parameter space where the diboson excess can be explained, and are within a reach of the LHC at the integrated luminosity of 10 fb-1 and 13 TeV.

Lepton-Specific Two Higgs Doublet Model as a Solution of Muon $g-2$ Anomaly

We discuss the Type-X (lepton-specific) two Higgs doublet model as a solution of the anomaly of the muon $g-2$. We consider various experimental constraints on the parameter space such as direct searches for extra Higgs bosons at the LEP II and the LHC Run-I, electroweak precision observables, the decay of $B_s \to μ^+μ^-$, and the leptonic decay of the tau lepton. We find that the measurement of the tau decay provides the most important constraint, which excludes the parameter region that can explain the muon $g-2$ anomaly at the 1$σ$ level. We then discuss the phenomenology of extra Higgs bosons and the standard model-like Higgs boson ($h$) to probe the scenario favored by the $g-2$ data at the collider experiments. We find that the $4τ$, $3τ$ and $4τ+ W/Z$ signatures are expected as the main signal of the extra Higgs bosons at the LHC. In addition, we clarify that the value of the $hττ$ coupling is predicted to be the standard model value times about $-1.6$ to $-1.0$, and the branching fraction of the $h\to γγ$ mode deviates from the standard model prediction by $-30\%$ to $-15\%$. Furthermore, we find that the exotic decay mode, $h$ decaying into the $Z$ boson and a light CP-odd scalar boson, is allowed, and its branching fraction can be a few percent. These deviations in the property of $h$ will be tested by the precision measurements at future collider experiments.

Unitarity sum rules, three site moose model, and the ATLAS 2 TeV diboson anomalies

We investigate $W'$ interpretations for the ATLAS 2 TeV diboson anomalies. The roles of the unitarity sum rules, which ensure the perturbativity of the longitudinal vector boson scattering amplitudes, are emphasized. We find the unitarity sum rules and the custodial symmetry are powerful enough to predict various nontrivial relations among $WWZ'$, $WZW'$, $WWh$, $WW'h$ and $ZZ'h$ coupling strengths in a model independent manner. We also perform surveys in the general parameter space of $W'$ models and find the ATLAS 2 TeV diboson anomalies may be interpreted as a $W'$ particle of the three site moose model, i.e., a Kaluza-Klein like particle in a deconstructed extra dimension model. It is also shown that the non standard-model-like Higgs boson is favored by the present data to interpret the ATLAS diboson anomalies as the consequences of the $W'$ and $Z'$ bosons.

Quantum corrections to the spin-independent cross section in the inert Higgs doublet model

The inert Higgs doublet model is an extension of the standard model with an extra scalar doublet. The extra doublet is $Z_2$ odd while all the other particles are $Z_2$ even, thus the model contains a dark matter candidate. It is known that the spin-independent cross section of the dark matter and the nucleon is highly suppressed for $m_{\text DM} \sim m_h/2$ at the tree level. In this talk, we show the loop corrections give the significant effects in this regime.

Quantum corrections to the spin-independent cross section of the inert doublet dark matter

The inert Higgs doublet model contains a stable neutral boson as a candidate of dark matter. We calculate cross section for spin-independent scattering of the dark matter on nucleon. We take into account electroweak and scalar quartic interactions, and evaluate effects of scattering with quarks at one-loop level and with gluon at two-loop level. These contributions give an important effect for the dark matter mass to be around m_h/2, because a coupling with the standard model Higgs boson which gives the leading order contribution should be suppressed to reproduce the correct amount of the thermal relic abundance in this mass region. In particular, we show that the dark matter self coupling changes the value of the spin-independent cross section significantly.
