Good ideals and $p_g$-ideals in two-dimensional normal singularities

In this paper, we introduce the notion of $p_g$-ideals and $p_g$-cycles, which inherits nice properties of integrally closed ideals on rational singularities. As an application, we prove an existence of good ideals for two-dimensional Gorenstein normal local rings. Moreover, we classify all Ulrich ideals for two-dimensional simple elliptic singularities with small degree.

The multiplicity of abelian covers of splice quotient singularities

From a resolution graph with certain conditions, Neumann and Wahl constructed an equisingular family of surface singularities called splice quotients. For this class some fundamental analytic invariants have been computed from their resolution graph. In this paper we give a method to compute the multiplicity of an abelian covering of a splice quotient from its resolution graph and the Galois group.

The embedding dimension of weighted homogeneous surface singularities

We analyze the embedding dimension of a normal weighted homogeneous surface singularity, and more generally, the Poincaré series of the minimal set of generators of the graded algebra of regular functions, provided that the link of the germs is a rational homology sphere. In the case of several sub-families we provide explicit formulas in terms of the Seifert invariants (generalizing results of Wagreich and VanDyke), and we also provide key examples showing that, in general, these invariants are not topological. We extend the discussion to the case of splice--quotient singularities with star--shaped graph as well.

The geometric genus of splice-quotient singularities

We prove a formula for the geometric genus of splice-quotient singularities (in the sense of Neumann and Wahl). This formula enables us to compute the invariant from the resolution graph; in fact, it reduces the computation to that for splice-quotient singularities with smaller resolution graphs. We also discuss the dimension of the first cohomology groups of certain invertible sheaves on a resolution of a splice-quotient singularity.

On the Casson Invariant Conjecture of Neumann--Wahl

In the article we prove the Casson Invariant Conjecture of Neumann--Wahl for splice type surface singularities. Namely, for such an isolated complete intersection, whose link is an integral homology sphere, we show that the Casson invariant of the link is one-eighth the signature of the Milnor fiber.

Universal abelian covers of certain surface singularities

Every normal complex surface singularity with $\mathbb Q$-homology sphere link has a universal abelian cover. It has been conjectured by Neumann and Wahl that the universal abelian cover of a rational or minimally elliptic singularity is a complete intersection singularity defined by a system of ``splice diagram equations''. In this paper we introduce a Neumann-Wahl system, which is an analogue of the system of splice diagram equations, and prove the following. If $(X,o)$ is a rational or minimally elliptic singularity, then its universal abelian cover $(Y,o)$ is an equisingular deformation of an isolated complete intersection singularity $(Y_0,o)$ defined by a Neumann-Wahl system. Furthermore, if $G$ denotes the Galois group of the covering $Y \to X$, then $G$ also acts on $Y_0$ and $X$ is an equisingular deformation of the quotient $Y_0/G$.
