Baryons with holography

We perform the first study of baryons in holographic QCD with $D4/D8/\bar{D8}$ multi-$D$ brane system in type IIA superstring theory. The baryon is described as a chiral soliton solution in the four-dimensional meson effective action derived from holographic QCD. We also present a brief review of the holographic model from the viewpoints of recent hadron physics and QCD phenomenologies.

Baryonic matter in holographic QCD

We study baryons and baryonic matter in holographic QCD with $D4/D8/\bar{D8}$ multi-$D$ brane system. In large-$N_c$ holographic QCD, the baryon appears as a topologically non-trivial chiral soliton, which is called ``brane-induced Skyrmion''. We also analyze the features of the baryonic matter in holographic QCD by investigating the system of single brane-induced Skyrmion on a three-dimensional closed manifold $S^3$. We propose a new interesting picture of ``pion dominance'' near the critical density.

Scalar Nonets in Pole-Dominated QCD Sum Rules

The light scalar nonets are studied using the QCD sum rules for the tetraquark operators. The operator product expansion for the correlators is calculated up to dimension 12 and this enables us to perform analyses retaining sufficient pole-dominance. To classify the light scalar nonets, we investigate the dependence on current quark mass and flavor dynamics. Especially, to examine the latter, we study separately SU(3) singlet and octet states, and show that the number of annihilation diagrams is largely responsible for their differences, which is also the case even after the inclusion of the finite quark mass. Our results support the tetraquark picture for isosinglets, while that for octets is not conclusive yet.

Sigma meson in pole-dominated QCD sum rules

The properties of $σ$(600) meson are studied using the QCD sum rules (QSR) for the tetraquark operators. In the SU(3) chiral limit, we investigate separately SU(3) singlet and octet tetraquark states as constituents of the $σ$ meson, and discuss their roles for the classification of the light scalar nonets, $σ, f_0, a_0$, and $κ$, as candidates of tetraquark states. All our analyses are performed in the the suitable Borel window which is indispensable to avoid the {\it pseudo peak} artifacts outside of the Borel window. The acceptably wide Borel window originates after preparing the favorable set up of a linear combination of operators and the inclusion of the dimension 12 terms in the OPE. Taking into account for the possible large width, we estimate masses for singlet and octet states as $700\sim 850$ MeV, $600\sim 750$ MeV, respectively, although octet states have smaller overlap with the pole than singlet state and may be strongly affected by low energy scattering states. This splitting of singlet and octet states emerges from the number of the $\bar{q}q$ annihilation diagrams, which include both color singlet annihilation processes, $qq\bar{q}\bar{q}\to (q\bar{q})_1$ and color octet annihilation processes, $qq\bar{q}\bar{q}\to G (q\bar{q})_8$. The mass evaluation for the $σ$ meson gives the value around $600\sim800$ MeV which is much smaller than the mass obtained by 2-quark correlators, $1.0\sim1.2$ GeV. This indicates $σ$ state has the large overlap with the tetraquark states.

Peristaltic modes of single vortex in the Abelian Higgs model

Using the Abelian Higgs model, we study the radial excitations of single vortex and their propagation modes along the vortex line. We call such beyond-stringy modes {\it peristaltic} modes of single vortex. With the profile of the static vortex, we derive the vortex-induced potential, i.e., single-particle potential for the Higgs and the photon field fluctuations around the static vortex, and investigate the coherently propagating fluctuations which corresponds to the vibration of the vortex. We derive, analyze and numerically solve the field equations of the Higgs and the photon field fluctuations around the static vortex with various Ginzburg-Landau parameter $κ$ and topological charge $n$. Around the BPS value or critical coupling $κ^2$=1/2, there appears a significant correlation between the Higgs and the photon field fluctuations mediated by the static vortex. As a result, for $κ^2$=1/2, we find the characteristic {\it new} discrete pole of the peristaltic mode corresponding to the quasi-bound-state of coherently fluctuating fields and the static vortex. We investigate its excitation energy, correlation energy of coherent fluctuations, spatial distributions, and the resulting magnetic flux behavior in detail. Our investigation covers not only usual Type-II vortices with $|n|$=1 but also Type-I and Type-II vortices with $n\in Z$ for the application to various general systems where the vortex-like objects behave as the essential degrees of freedom.

Baryons in Holographic QCD

We study the baryon in holographic QCD with $D4/D8/\bar{D8}$ multi-$D$ brane system. In holographic QCD, the baryon appears as a topologically non-trivial chiral soliton in a four-dimensional effective theory of mesons. We call this topological soliton as Brane-induced Skyrmion. Some review of $D4/D8/\bar{D8}$ holographic QCD is presented from the viewpoints of recent hadron physics and phenomenologies. Four-dimensional effective theory with pions and $ρ$ mesons is uniquely derived from the non-abelian Dirac-Born-Infeld (DBI) action of $D8$ brane with $D4$ supergravity background, without small amplitude expansion of meson fields to discuss chiral solitons. For the hedgehog configuration of pion and $ρ$-meson fields, we derive the energy functional and the Euler-Lagrange equation of Brane-induced Skyrmion from the meson effective action induced by holographic QCD. Performing the numerical calculation, we obtain the pion profile $F(r)$ and the $ρ$-meson profile $G(r)$ of the Brane-induced Skyrmion, and estimate its total energy, energy density distribution, and root-mean-square radius. These results are compared with the experimental quantities of baryons and also with the profiles of standard Skyrmion without $ρ$ mesons. We analyze interaction terms of pions and $ρ$ mesons in Brane-induced Skyrmion, and consider the role of $ρ$-meson component appearing in baryons.

Brane-induced Skyrmions: Baryons in Holographic QCD

Exotic Hadron in Pole-dominated QCD Sum Rules

We study pentaquark $Θ^{+} (I=0,J=1/2)$ in the QCD sum rules emphasizing that we can not extract any properties of the pentaquark outside of the Borel window. To find the appropriate Borel window, we prepare a favorable set up of the correlators and carry out the operator product expansion up to dimension 15 within factorization hypothesis. Our procedures reduce the unwanted high energy contaminations and enhance the low energy correlation. In the Borel window, independent analyses for the chiral-even and odd sum rules give the consistent values of the $Θ^+$ mass, $1.68\pm0.22$ GeV, and the residue. The parity is found to be {\it positive}.

Pentaquark state in pole-dominated QCD sum rules

We propose a new approach in QCD sum rules applied for exotic hadrons with a number of quarks, exemplifying the pentaquark Theta^{+} (I=0,J=1/2) in the Borel sum rule. Our approach enables reliable extraction of the pentaquark properties from the sum rule with good stability in a remarkably wide Borel window. The appearance of its valid window originates from a favorable setup of the correlation functions with the aid of it chirality of the interpolating fields on the analogy of the Weinberg sum rule for the vector currents. Our setup leads to large suppression of the continuum contributions which have spoiled the Borel stability in the previous analyses, and consequently enhances importance of the higher-dimensional contributions of the OPE, which are indispensable for investigating the pentaquark properties. Implementing the OPE analysis up to dimension 15, we find that the sum rules for the chiral-even and odd parts independently give the Theta^{+} mass of 1.68 pm 0.22 GeV with uncertainties of the condensate values. Our sum rule indeed gives rather flat Borel curves almost independent of the continuum thresholds both for the mass and pole residue. Finally, we also discuss possible isolation of the observed states from the KN scattering state on view of chiral symmetry.
